Chapter Sixty-Three: The Betrayal

Tamara's POV

I woke up that morning feeling more relieved. I rolled over, expecting to find Jesse beside me. But he wasn’t there.

A wave of worry crashed over me. Did he leave for work without saying goodbye? My heart raced at the thought, or did something happen again I questioned myself the unease getting at my gut. I couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t right. I sat up and glanced at my phone, hoping to see a message or a missed call from him. But Nothing. Just silence.

I tried calling him, my heart pounding with each ring, but it went straight to voicemail. Panic began to bubble in my chest. What if something had happened to him? The thought sent a chill down my spine, and I quickly shook my head, trying to dismiss the panic.
