Chapter Forty-two

PHILPS POV

I held my breath as the healer worked, my heart pounding in my chest. I had never seen them work before, but I could tell that they were skilled and experienced. Still, I couldn't help but worry. What if they couldn't save her? What if they were too late?

As the minutes ticked by, I felt myself growing more and more anxious. I had to do something to distract myself, so I began to pace around the room. It didn't help much, and I found myself checking my watch every few minutes.

Just then, the healer stood up and turned to face me. I felt my heart skip a beat as I waited for them to speak. "She's stable for now," they said. "But she's lost a lot of blood. We need to get her to the pack's healer, and fast."

A wave of relief washed over me, but it was quickly followed by fear. "Can you heal her?" I asked, my voice shaking.

The healer looked at me, their expression grave. "I can try," they said.
