Chapter Fifty

CATHERINE POV

"I want you to imagine yourself as a little girl," the voice said. "Can you do that?"

I closed my eyes and I focused. I imagined myself as a little girl, about five years old. I was in my room, with my dolls and my stuffed animals. I was sitting on the floor, playing.

"Good," the voice said. "Now, I want you to imagine that you are playing with your dolls and your stuffed animals. What are you playing?"

I thought for a moment, and then the scene became clear. "I'm having a tea party," I said.

"You are having a tea party," the voice said. "Your dolls and stuffed animals are all sitting around the table. They are chatting and laughing. The sun is streaming in through the window. It's a warm, sunny day. Can you feel the sunlight on your skin?"

I nodded. I could feel the sun on my skin, and I felt the happiness of the little girl. "Yes," I said.

"Good," the voice said. "Now, I want you to imagine that someone is at the door."

"You hear a knock at the door," the voice said. "
