Chapter Fifty-two

CATHERINE POV

Suddenly, we heard a thud from outside. We looked out the window, and we saw a figure lying on the ground. It was the figure we had seen earlier. But now, it was lying still, and it didn't move.

"I think it's dead," the man said.

"What should we do?" I asked.

"We need to get out of here," he said. "We need to find help."

But we were trapped. The only way out was through the front door, and it was blocked. And we didn't know what was waiting for us outside.

We heard a noise, and we turned around. The figure we had seen earlier was standing there, right in front of us. But this time, its face was visible. It was a pale, expressionless face, and its eyes were completely black.

I felt a chill run down my spine.

"What do you want?" the man asked.

The figure didn't answer. It just stood there, staring at us.

"Get away from us!" the man yelled.

But the figure didn't move. It just kept staring at us.

"We're warning you," the man said.
