124 Hiding

Hurrying to catch up with Caiden, Jessie walked faster. She needed to be relentless and persuade him to reconsider, even though she knew it was a grave error to put pressure on him to kick Kamara out of the pack. Her heart nearly stopped as she heard the children's voices. Her legs froze instantly, and she rushed to hide in the bathroom before anyone spotted her, also the males sprinting down the hallway toward Caiden.

Jessie's entire body shook, her breath coming in labored gasps. Jessie could easily solve the problem if Kamara was the only one, but if even one pup saw her, Jessie would undoubtedly meet her demise.

She spent a few minutes in the restroom prior to Caiden and the children leaving. Sweat beaded her face as she stepped out of the restroom. With a dubious look on her face, she observed Kamara standing by the door to the main room.

She added, without trying to hide her suspicion, "You look like you've seen a ghost, Jessie. It nearly feels like you're hiding from someone."
