126. Jessie's fear

As Caiden exited the main building and made his way home, he couldn't get Kamara's comments out of his thoughts. Caiden could see Nate was keen to say something as he trailed closely behind.

"Nate, what's going on?" He came to a stop in front of the vehicle and met Nate's eyes.

He took a big breath and said, "I know how much you need me to help you in the pack, Alpha. Please pardon me, but I would like to request permission to undertake another mission."

Caiden studied him closely. He was aware of Nate's devotion, and he wouldn't press the issue until it was very important.

"Please tell me about this mission."

"I must look into the killing of Kamara's parents."

Caiden sighed with displeasure at Nate's statement. He rubbed his temples, unable to understand why Nate would continue to pursue a case that, in Caiden's opinion, had already been settled.

He said, regretfully, "We already know who killed Kamara's parents. We just need to give me a fair trial."
