132. At the old house

Nate seemed to be keeping something from Caiden. He was worried and did not want to look into his eyes. Still, he held back from inquiring as to what was happening. Undoubtedly, Nate had good cause to be wary; in addition to being a skilled investigator, he was a friend, and Caiden felt he could rely on him.

He saw Kamara sprinting towards him and halting breathlessly by his side just as he was about to get back into the car and drive away. Caiden could even begin to imagine what Kamara intended.

She needed a long moment to collect her breath before responding, "Wait, Caiden. What are you going to do about Louis?"

The alpha became enraged again at the inquiry. He gave her a fierce glance and then answered.

"Kamara, what interest do you have in this?" He spoke in a chilly, dry tone. "Are you planning to save him?"

She felt insulted and said, "I don't want to save him, Caiden," but she also saw how angry he was over the whole thing. "All I want to do is make sure he stays away from me."
