The guards nodded without hesitation, gripping my arms again to lead me out of the room. My stomach twisted, not just at the punishment, but at the cold finality in Kade’s tone. His words were like a slap, and yet, there was a flicker of something in his eyes—a crack in his mask, a fleeting trace of conflict.

As they dragged me through the corridors, Harriet’s laughter echoed faintly behind me. I gritted my teeth, vowing to myself that I wouldn’t let her or Kade see me crumble. They might break my body, but my spirit was another matter.

They threw me into my room with Jane and the heavy door slammed shut behind me.

As soon as they left, I slipped down on the floor with unexplained anger.

I clenched my fists, my nails biting into my palms as I tried to calm the storm within me. The room was dimly lit, the faint glow of the moon seeping through the small, barred window. The silence pressed against me, but it wasn't the absence of noise that set my blood boiling—it was the helplessness.

Kade’s face flashed in my mind, his words ringing in my ears. Cold. Unyielding. But that flicker of something, was it doubt? Regret? I hated that I noticed it, hated that it planted a seed of uncertainty in my resolve. He was no ally, no savior. Yet, why couldn’t I shake the feeling that there was more beneath his mask?

I took a shaky breath and forced myself to stand, leaning against the wall for support. Harriet’s laughter replayed in my mind, mocking and cruel. She’d won this round, but it wasn’t over.

I glanced around the room, searching for anything that might help me channel the rage threatening to consume me. If they thought they could break me, they were wrong. I wasn’t just a pawn in their games. Not anymore.

Night time came but Jane didn't come back. I tied my hair into a knot  and dreaded into the very uncomfortable rock hard mattress. I laid there while lost in my thoughts for a couple of minutes till when sleep lastly claimed me. However in the dead of the night , a flashlight shone in my face.

Before l could open my eyes, I got jerked out of the bed by my hair. I was then quickly slammed against the nearest , coldest wall before I managed to open up my eyes and awaken. I was so incredibly drowsy and confused. The flashlight blinded my already sleep swollen eyes.

I could tell it that it was a bunch of girls. They were the slave girls and the one who dragged me out of the bathroom last time was in front. "Thanks so much", She pushed me so hard against the metal rails of the bed. I winced in pain. "You pissed those bitches off and we now paying the price", She growled.

"Guess who is going to wash all the pack's clothes", She continued and it was hard understanding. I was already far away in my own world, already Feeling sleepy. "Do you think we gonna clean up your shit for you", Another girl spat out. "You think this is your father's court house or something, a breeder whatever , you now a slave", She grabbed my neck and tugged me hard.

"Wake the fuck up! This is a wolf pack and rogue or what you still a wolf",She hissed out in my ear. "You fucking watch your behavior or soon that bitch will come back for your ass",Another one added. At those words, l gritted my teeth. They really didn't know me. They really didn't know what the hell l have so far gone through. Whatever they were threatening me was nothing to me.

"Do you think you better than us?",

Suddenly a knock sounded on the door in a specific pattern as if someone on the other side was trying to alert them. They all started scurrying out of the room. But before they left one shoved me into the metal rails again. "This isn't over bitch ",She pushed me more. I fell on the ground as she quickly dashed out of the room.

I didn't know whom they were afraid of but I was thankful for that one who was patrolling the hallways. I pulled myself up , pulling unto the bed's headboard and sat up on the bed to gather myself together and see who was going to enter inside.

The sound of the lock clicking made my stomach twist, but I forced myself to stay still. The door creaked open, and for a brief moment, the hallway light spilled into the room, silhouetting the figure standing there.

It was Jane.

Her face was unreadable in the dim light. She didn't say anything but her gaze swept over me, lingering on the bruises forming on my arms and neck.

“Do you ever learn?” She finally asked, her voice low and biting. “Or do you enjoy making enemies everywhere in thid pack?”

I glared at her, the fire in my chest reigniting. “If you’re here to lecture me, save it. I don’t need your pity or your condescension.”

“Pity? No. Condescension? Maybe.” She spoke heading to her closet.

“But you’re walking a dangerous line. Harriet isn’t the only one watching you, and next time they will beat you more than today",

The words stung, but I refused to let her see it. I pushed myself up from the bed, meeting her gaze head-on. “I don’t need you to save me, Jane. I’ve been through worse, and I’ll survive this too.”

“You’d better,” She said finally, her tone almost a warning. Then, without another word, she turned and left, the door clicking shut behind her.

I stared at the door, my fists trembling at my sides. Her words lingered in the room, a mix of threat and something I couldn’t quite place.

One thing was clear now, Kade was far more dangerous than I’d realized. I was going to be tortured until I fell down on my feet before him.

The kitchen staff scattered like leaves in a storm, leaving me alone in the Alpha's suffocating presence.I didn't need to look at Kade to feel the weight of his fury; it radiated off him like heat from a wildfire. Slowly, I let go of Henry, who slumped to the ground, clutching his bleeding neck and coughing violently. My claws retracted as I turned to face the Alpha, my mind racing for an explanation that wouldn't land me in the grave."Well?" Kade's voice was calm—too calm. That dangerous edge made my stomach churn. "Didn't I tell you Henry to monitor this lady with my strongest warriors?." Kade had his eyes on his Beta."Your warriors monitored me but he attacked me first," It was my turn to reply but I said immediately, my voice steady despite the fear curling in my gut. "I defended myself."Kade's dark eyes narrowed, his lips curling into a smirk that sent shivers down my spine.

The next few days passed in a strange quietness, a calmness that I hadn’t expected after everything that had happened. During the day, I trained alongside the pack, pushing myself further than before. Kade’s presence, though still looming in the background, wasn’t as oppressive as it had been. There was a quiet understanding now—a shift in the way he looked at me. He wasn’t constantly hovering, scrutinizing my every move, but I knew that he was watching from the sidelines, waiting to see if I would keep my word.Training felt different. It wasn’t just about proving myself to the pack anymore. It was about proving it to myself. I focused more than ever, growing stronger each day, each sparring match, and feeling my body begin to adapt to the intensity of the training. There were no more whispers of doubt in my mind, no more insecurities about my place here. I was earning my place, step by step.At night, things remained just as peaceful. Kade didn’t come to my room again, and for that,

The training dragged on, but I refused to let exhaustion slow me down. Kade's gaze seemed to follow me with every movement, sharp and calculating, as though he were cataloging my every flaw. He didn’t pair with me again after the initial spar, but his presence loomed over me, pushing me harder than I thought possible.By the time the session ended, my muscles felt like they were made of lead. The pack dispersed slowly, some offering me lingering looks, others ignoring me entirely. I stayed behind, leaning against a wooden post to catch my breath.“You held your own today.”The voice startled me. I turned to see Torren standing a few feet away, arms crossed, his smirk less mocking this time.“Barely,” I muttered, wiping the sweat from my brow.“Barely’s better than nothing,” he said with a shrug. “Most don’t land a hit on Kade their first time sparring. You’ve got potential.”His words, while backhanded, felt oddly like praise. I narrowed my eyes at him. “Why does it sound like there’s

The morning came too soon. A soft beam of sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a golden glow across the room. My body felt heavy, as though the exhaustion of the previous day had embedded itself deep into my bones. I blinked groggily, disoriented by the unfamiliar warmth cocooning me.And then it hit me.Kade.My heart lurched, and I instinctively jerked back, only to find that the source of warmth was no longer lying beside me. The bed was empty, the sheets on his side rumpled but cold. I let out a shaky breath, a mixture of relief and confusion washing over me.Had he left? Why hadn’t I woken up when he did? The thought that I’d slept so soundly in his presence both unnerved and irritated me.I pushed myself upright, clutching the blanket to my chest as I scanned the room. The bathroom door was closed, but I didn’t hear the sound of running water. My gaze darted to the small desk near the window, where a folded piece of paper caught my eye.Curiosity tugged at me, and I s

The rest of the day blurred into a haze of exhaustion. Training with the pack wasn’t just physical; it was mental, a constant test of endurance and focus. The wolves pushed me relentlessly, their disdain obvious in their sneers and muttered comments. I didn’t care. Every blow I blocked, every hit I landed, was another small victory, another step closer to proving I didn’t belong at the bottom of their hierarchy.By the time the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in streaks of red and gold, my body felt like it had been put through a meat grinder. I limped back to my room, muscles screaming in protest with every step. The clean, sterile space greeted me with an emptiness that felt heavier than before.I made my way to the bathroom.I started the shower, and peacefully washed my body.
