Yes I was untamed.
It was going to be nice, defeating the well known strongest male wolf after years.
Torren laughed, a deep, mocking sound that echoed through the pit. "Brave words for someone about to be crushed. Let's see if your bite is as sharp as your bark, rogue."
The crowd roared louder, feeding off his confidence, but I kept my gaze steady. My body thrummed with adrenaline, my wolf stirring just beneath the surface.
The rules of the pit were unspoken yet well understood: survival by any means necessary. Torren would come at me with everything he had, and I'd have to match him, claw for claw, fang for fang.
Torren lunged without warning, his massive frame moving with surprising speed. I darted to the side, narrowly avoiding the swipe of his claws. He recovered quickly, spinning to face me, his eyes gleaming with a predator's hunger.
"You can't run forever," he taunted, advancing again.
"Who said I was running?" I countered, feinting to the left before slashing at his side with my claws. They tore through fabric and grazed flesh, drawing blood.
Torren growled, the sound primal and furious. "You'll regret that."
He charged, his fists swinging in brutal arcs. I dodged and countered, my movements more agile, more deliberate. But he was relentless, each strike testing my defenses, wearing me down.
The crowd’s cheers blurred into a chaotic hum as I focused solely on the fight. My wolf clawed at the edges of my control, begging to be unleashed.
Not yet, I told her. We need to be smart. Wait for the right moment.
Torren caught me with a glancing blow, sending me stumbling back. Pain radiated through my ribs, but I gritted my teeth and stood my ground.
"Is that all you've got?" I snarled, wiping blood from my lip.
Torren smirked, circling me like a predator sizing up its prey. "You're feisty. I'll give you that. But you're out of your league, rogue."
I let him think that. Let him believe I was tiring, that the fight was tipping in his favor.
But my pulse spiked in alarm as he appeared in front of me to rip out my throat. His leg whipped around the air and almost touched my head but I moved away just in time. It was about defending rather than trying to get myself killed. There was a thin moment where Torren was vulnerable, preparing for his next strike but before he could even touch me, I thrust my wicked, filthy claws into his stomach, and drew blood out of him, forcing an instinctual growl of pain out of him.
I used my other hand to grab his neck and then shoved my claws into his fragile skin at the back of his head. A muffled groan escaped his mouth with the pain I put him into.
Coming closer, I whispered, "You're going to lose, dont bother fighting me , end this before you get yourself killed." It was a simple warning that I hoped he'd get.
From the corner of my eyes, I looked over at Kade who surveyed us silently, he didn't look thrilled as he was before this all got started.
Torren's rasping breath made it's way to my ears and I looked down at him, he was bowing to me with pain. "Get your filthy claws off me and then I will tell you who's going to get killed,"
He wrapped his hand around my wrist and slowly pushed me away. I tried to fight against his strength but he seemed to me more stronger now and it confused me.
"What are you doing?" I asked, my eyes quirking with curiosity.
"I'm shifting, bitch. Let's see what you'll do," He threw me on the ground and then shifted into a werewolf.
My heartbeat increased as I watched him shift into a monster. The bone-cracking and the splitting of the skin terrified me. I wasn't ready to fight against a wolf. His fur appeared and his face morphed into a monstrous wolf. He lunged on the air and landed above me, I was still on the ground, trying to swallow the surprise of him shifting into a wolf.
That wasn't a part of the agreement. I didn't want to shift.
The problem was, it took hell a lot of time to heal from anything that a werewolf did. Any injury that Torren would give me would take a week to properly heal, with or without medicine-it would hurt like a bitch.
And just as I expected, he slashed his savage, six-inch claws into my chest, almost ripping my heart out.
Sharp pain laced through me and I let out a loud, terrifying scream. Blur spots appeared in front of my eyes, it felt like my whole body was on fire and needles were being punctured into me in an endless rhythm. I grabbed whatever was beside me. Grass. Mud. I lifted and turned around, pressing my stomach against the ground and moving my hands away from my chest.
I bought my palm towards my face and I saw it covered with blood-a lot of it-my own fucking blood. I tasted it in my mouth as well, getting ready to spurt out.
Motherfucker.
The metallic tang of blood filled my mouth as I spat it out, struggling to push myself off the ground. My wolf howled inside me, enraged and begging for release. The searing pain in my chest threatened to consume me, but I couldn't let it. Not now. Not when survival was the only option.
Torren circled me, his massive wolf form towering and menacing, his glowing eyes full of savage triumph.
I forced myself to my knees ready to fight him again but my vision so hazy.
Without a warning, I felt a sharp pain rip through my back as Torren shoved his claws inside me again. The pain amplified and I coughed out blood. Every muscle in my body quivered and tears swirled at the edges of my eyes. Before he could kill me, I found a little strength to run away from him and his filthy wolf. The ache didn't stop and it wasn't going to anytime soon.I raised my head to look at the males standing, hoping any of them would come for my rescue-hoping Kade could come for my rescue but he didn't. He totally didn't want me as his mate and he didn’t care if I was killed. He just stood there and watched me without any remorse in his eyes, it caused me more pain that what was crippling inside me.I let out a soft blow as a tear escaped my eyes. This wasn't going to be the end of me. I wasn't going to get defeated. I was a woman of my own, I fought for myself, made my own rules, and survived.I survived. For three fucking years as a rogue. There was no way I was going to le
With trembling fingers, I reached for the cabin door and knocked softly. My breath clouded in the icy air, and for a moment, there was no response. I thought of leaving, running back into the darkness to find another way, but the creak of the door interrupted my thoughts.A woman stood in the doorway, her piercing green eyes locking onto mine. She was older, her silver hair braided over one shoulder, and though her face was lined with age, there was a sharpness to her gaze that warned me she wasn’t to be underestimated. She sniffed the air and narrowed her eyes. “A rogue,” she said, her voice calm but laced with suspicion. “You’re injured.”I didn’t deny it. “Please,” I whispered, my voice cracking. “I need shelter, just for tonight.”Her gaze swept over me, taking in the blood, the bruises, and the desperation in my eyes. She let out a slow breath before stepping aside. “Come in, then. But don’t think I won’t throw you out if you bring trouble.”I stepped inside, the warmth of the ca
I sat frozen, my mind racing as his words echoed in my ears. Was he serious? Would he actually kill someone just to prove a point—or worse, to feed me? A part of me wanted to laugh at the absurdity of it all, but the cold reality was that Alpha Kade wasn’t one to make empty threats.I pulled the blanket tighter around me, my body trembling from more than just hunger. His dominance, his sheer cruelty, clung to me like a suffocating shadow. Yet, beneath it all, there was a fire—a part of me that refused to break no matter how hard he tried to bend me.I forced myself to stand, leaning against the wall for support as I moved to the window. The moon hung high in the sky, casting a silvery glow over the packhouse grounds. My wolf stirred within me, restless and angry, urging me to fight back, to run, to do something other than sit and wait for him to come back. But how? The room was locked, and I was weak. Their Alpha.I walked slowly due to hunger until my eyes landed on one of the workers."Where is Kade?", I asked and when her eyes fall on me, fear showed in her eyes. I was scaring with blood of the rotten meat all over my body. She hesitated for a second but when she saw me open my mouth, she gave in i'mmediately. "He's in the meeting room."My brows furrowed. Meeting room?"Where is that and what meeting?""The meeting with the council. It's downstairs, near the cellar." The servant replied, staring at me with wide eyes. The second the compulsion wore off, she walked away without a single thought of what happened.I remained calm, used the energy I had in me and went downstairs, the underground level of the estate, one I had never
As I walked back to my room, my mind raced with confusion and anger. Kade's sudden shift in tone had left me reeling. He had spent so much time treating me like an inconvenience—his enemy even. But for a moment, just a fleeting moment, there was something softer in his voice. It wasn’t enough to convince me he wasn’t a monster, but it was enough to keep me awake tonight, questioning everything.I shook my head, scoffing under my breath. "What the hell is wrong with me? Since when does 'clean yourself up' count as sweet?"Yet, I couldn’t deny the flicker of something I’d seen in his eyes. It wasn’t just anger or frustration. There was hesitation, maybe even a hint of… concern? That thought made me stop in my tracks. Concern wasn’t something I associated with Kade. He was a brute, a dictator, someone who seemed to view me as an inconvenience at best and a burden at worst. But then, why hadn’t he punished me for eavesdropping? Why hadn’t he locked me up, as he so often did before? Why ha
The room felt colder after Kade left, his presence lingering like a shadow I couldn’t shake. His words swirled in my head, heavy with implications I couldn’t unravel. You’re asking questions you don’t want the answers to. The truth. That’s what I wanted, but was it what I needed? What could possibly be so dangerous about knowing the truth?I leaned back against the bedpost, staring at the ceiling, my thoughts refusing to settle. Kade is well known as brute, a man who ruled through fear and dominance, yet through out this day, something about him felt... different. The rest of the day blurred into a haze of exhaustion. Training with the pack wasn’t just physical; it was mental, a constant test of endurance and focus. The morning came too soon. A soft beam of sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a golden glow across the room. The bed was empty, the sheets on his side rumpled but cold. I let out a shaky breath, a mixture of relief and confusion washing over me.Had he left? Why hadn’t I woken up when he did? The thought that I’d slept so soundly in his presence both unnerved and irritated me.I pushed myself upright, clutching the blanket to my chest as I scanned the room. The bathroom door was closed, but I didn’t hear the sound of running water. The next few days passed in a strange quietness, a calmness that I hadn’t expected after everything that had happened. During the day, I trained alongside the pack, pushing myself further than before. Kade’s presence, though still looming in the background, wasn’t as oppressive as it had been. There was a quiet understanding now—a shift in the way he looked at me. He wasn’t constantly hovering, scrutinizing my every move, but I knew that he was watching from the sidelines, waiting to see if I would keep my word.Training felt different. It wasn’t just about proving myself to the pack anymore. It was about proving it to myself. I focused more than ever, growing stronger each day, each sparring match, and feeling my body begin to adapt to the intensity of the training. There were no more whispers of doubt in my mind, no more insecurities about my place here. I was earning my place, step by step.At night, things remained just as peaceful. Kade didn’t come to my room again, and for that,
The training dragged on, but I refused to let exhaustion slow me down. Kade's gaze seemed to follow me with every movement, sharp and calculating, as though he were cataloging my every flaw. He didn’t pair with me again after the initial spar, but his presence loomed over me, pushing me harder than I thought possible.By the time the session ended, my muscles felt like they were made of lead. The pack dispersed slowly, some offering me lingering looks, others ignoring me entirely. I stayed behind, leaning against a wooden post to catch my breath.“You held your own today.”The voice startled me. I turned to see Torren standing a few feet away, arms crossed, his smirk less mocking this time.“Barely,” I muttered, wiping the sweat from my brow.“Barely’s better than nothing,” he said with a shrug. “Most don’t land a hit on Kade their first time sparring. You’ve got potential.”His words, while backhanded, felt oddly like praise. I narrowed my eyes at him. “Why does it sound like there’s
