Sleeping with him

The rest of the day blurred into a haze of exhaustion. Training with the pack wasn’t just physical; it was mental, a constant test of endurance and focus. The wolves pushed me relentlessly, their disdain obvious in their sneers and muttered comments. I didn’t care. Every blow I blocked, every hit I landed, was another small victory, another step closer to proving I didn’t belong at the bottom of their hierarchy.

By the time the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in streaks of red and gold, my body felt like it had been put through a meat grinder. I limped back to my room, muscles screaming in protest with every step. The clean, sterile space greeted me with an emptiness that felt heavier than before.

I made my way to the bathroom.

I started the shower, and peacefully washed my body. Everything was well and I took my time while showering but everything changed i'mmediately when I opened the bathroom door to get out.

My eyes instantly fall on the bastard who was seated on the bed with his back to me.

Kade

With the towel still wrapped around my body, I stood dumb founded.

Of course these were his rooms and he had access to them but I wasn’t expecting him to come this early.

"I want some privacy", I spoke kindly. I was tired and I couldn't even bring myself to glare at him.

I had a feeling that he would leave but the bastard didn't. He didn't reply and he remained unmoving as he watched me. His hands were in fists next to him, an anger or maybe frustration over his features. Something in the way his head was turned, just slightly to the right, made me feel his anger wasn't actually directed at me.

What the hell was wrong with him?!

"I want my priva.....",

"Bring your ass to the bed and we sleep", He finally stopped me short in mid sentence sharply and turned his glare from me. I shook my head in disbelief , immediate discomfort flooding me.

Did I even hear him right?

"When you say 'we're', you mean... both of us or?", I ended up stammering.

"I do sleep, too. Alphas also sleep." He spoke and before I could reply, he shifted the clean white sheets on the surface of the bed, preparing it to rest on.

"You mean on the same bed, in my room?" My tone was becoming most obviously anxious.

"Do you see another bed?" He responded sarcastically before rolling onto the bed lithely, stretching out in a way that made him seem suddenly more intimidating than he had ever been before. My mouth went dry and my heart stopped momentarily. I took a step back to the bathroom.

"You probably insane, I can't share a bed with you.... I cant.....-" I took another step back to the bathroom door when his eyes found my form dangerously. He crawled across the bed, approaching me slowly. I stared at him with both wonder and reluctance. Only when I realized that he probably was going to grab me did I snap out of it and turned to run.

His hand caught mine and he roughly pulled me to him, causing me to stumble and fall onto the bed. I yelped in surprise, pulling away and struggling to get free. Kade laughed suddenly and I froze, that sound thrilling throughout me despite my reluctance.

"I have never had a female fight so hard to get out of my bed," He abruptly teased before shifting against me, using my moment of surprise to better pull me further into his grasp. I breathed harshly as I found myself face to face with him, my arms tucked between us with his around me powerfully; an entirely different cuff.

To make matters worse, I only had a towel wrapped around my bed.

"I am not them" I retorted sharply, as I tried to remove myself from his grip. When he noticed what I was doing, he suddenly tightened his grip on me and I held my breath.

The moment the towel unwraps, am done.

"If I were you, I would be asleep by now", He warned as his grip tightened more..

"Not with my ene....."

"Shut up and sleep", He cut me off in mid sentence.

The silence that followed his command was suffocating. His gaze bore into mine, unyielding and unrelenting. The audacity of his actions set every nerve in my body ablaze with indignation, but I was trapped—physically and mentally. Every attempt to shift away only seemed to draw me closer to his imposing presence.

His body heat was overwhelming, his closeness disorienting. My thoughts scrambled for an escape plan, but his grip was unyielding, his strength absolute. I could feel the controlled power in his arms, and it wasn’t just physical—it was the weight of his presence, his authority, pressing down on me.

I turned my head to glare at him, my lips parting to fire off another protest, but his sharp, commanding gaze silenced me before I could even utter a word. His eyes, dark as the night sky, bore into mine with an intensity that made my breath hitch.

“Let me go,” I hissed, my voice trembling with a mix of fury and unease.

“No,” Kade said bluntly, his tone calm but unmovable. “You’re exhausted. You’re vulnerable. And whether you like it or not, you’re under my protection. That means you rest.”

“Protection?” I spat the word like it was poison. “You don’t get to hold me hostage and call it protection.”

His jaw clenched, his dark eyes narrowing. “You think I enjoy this? Babysitting you? I’ve got an entire pack to manage, threats at every corner, and yet here I am, making sure you don’t collapse from sheer stupidity.”

I bristled, glaring at him. “I don’t need your pity or your concern.”

“It’s not pity,” he growled, leaning in just enough to make the air between us feel electric.

“Stop fighting me,” he added, his voice softer now but no less firm. “If I wanted to hurt you, I would have done it already. You need to rest.”

The calmness in his tone threw me off balance. It wasn’t a plea; it was a statement of fact, as if he were pointing out something so obvious I’d be a fool to argue. But that only made me angrier.

“Rest?” I hissed, my voice low but venomous. “With you here, looming over me like a damn predator? Not a chance.”

His jaw tightened, and for a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of something behind his eyes—regret, maybe, or hesitation. But it was gone just as quickly, replaced by his usual stoicism.

“I’m not your enemy,” he said, his voice so low I almost didn’t hear it. “You don’t trust me, I get that. But I need you alive. And right now, you’re running yourself into the ground.”

His words stung, mostly because they were true. My body ached, my mind was frayed, and I had no energy left to fight. I wanted to argue, to push him away and reclaim the small shred of dignity I still had, but my exhaustion betrayed me. My shoulders sagged, and I let out a shaky breath.

“This doesn’t mean I trust you,” I muttered, my voice barely audible.

Kade’s lips twitched into the faintest hint of a smirk. “Noted.”

With a resigned sigh, I shifted uncomfortably in his grip. He loosened his hold just enough for me to turn onto my side, putting some space between us, but not enough to let me completely escape. The proximity was maddening, but I couldn’t muster the strength to argue anymore.

The silence stretched between us, broken only by the sound of our breathing. Despite my initial discomfort, my body began to relax against my will, the warmth radiating from him strangely comforting. My eyelids grew heavier, and before I knew it, the pull of sleep became too strong to resist.

As I drifted off, I could have sworn I heard Kade murmur something under his breath, but the words were lost to the haze of exhaustion.

For now, sleep claimed me, though I knew the battle between us was far from over.

The room felt colder after Kade left, his presence lingering like a shadow I couldn’t shake. His words swirled in my head, heavy with implications I couldn’t unravel. You’re asking questions you don’t want the answers to. The truth. That’s what I wanted, but was it what I needed? What could possibly be so dangerous about knowing the truth?I leaned back against the bedpost, staring at the ceiling, my thoughts refusing to settle. Kade is well known as brute, a man who ruled through fear and dominance, yet through out this day, something about him felt... different. Like he wasn’t entirely the monster I’d painted him to be.That thought made me angrier than it should have.I stood abruptly, needing to move, to do something. My room, though bigger than the one I’d been thrown into when I first arrived, still felt like a prison. The clean walls, the soft bed, the untouched clothes—it was all a farce. It wasn’t enough to convince me he wasn’t a monster, but it was enough to keep me awake tonight, questioning everything.I shook my head, scoffing under my breath. "What the hell is wrong with me? Since when does 'clean yourself up' count as sweet?"Yet, I couldn’t deny the flicker of something I’d seen in his eyes. It wasn’t just anger or frustration. There was hesitation, maybe even a hint of… concern? That thought made me stop in my tracks. Concern wasn’t something I associated with Kade. He was a brute, a dictator, someone who seemed to view me as an inconvenience at best and a burden at worst. But then, why hadn’t he punished me for eavesdropping?
