CHAPTER SIXTY

LANDON:

As the shifting process continued for her, my own battle raged within. It was a torturous struggle, a clash between my human consciousness and the primal instincts of the wolf I shared a body. I couldn't escape the cacophony of pain and fear, both hers and mine. The internal upheaval was enough to make me sweat, despite the coolness of the air-conditioned jet.

"Why are you blaming me? I didn't cause this. It was Jason. Go fight him and not me," I scolded, my words a feeble attempt to reason with the beast within me. I could feel my wolf's anger and frustration and it was a dangerous cocktail that threatened to engulf me.

"You triggered it," he howled back at me, his voice a relentless echo of my own inner fight.
