Chapter Five

...

Here you are,

To fit in the missing puzzle,

I've been missing all along.

...

In a beautiful and dimly lit room, a man stood straight with his back to the light. The dim light provided by a table lamp carelessly placed on the bedside table cast a strange and distorted shadow of him on the floor. The assistant behind him squinted at the shadow, tracing it all the way to the man's shoes before looking up. Because of how dark the room was, she couldn't see his face clearly. But she could clearly see his face outline. It was sharp, straight and cold. Perhaps the dim lighting further enhanced her imagination, but she suddenly felt cold all over. The weather was warm these days and the A.C. is clearly not on but the temperature in the room continued to drop several degrees with each passing minute until the frequency of the silence was disturbed by a deep, distant voice.

"Anything new?" The voice was deep, yet light. It sounded like he didn't even open his mouth and had just commanded the wind to carry his voice waves. It drifted carelessly past the assistant's ear and she could hardly keep a straight face with the amount of power it carried. It carried an authority that belongs solely to Alphas and it is only normal that inferior werewolves like her who are omegas can't help but want to go down on their knees and surrender to the alpha at the sound of his voice. But her training for several years as someone suitable to stay around the alpha held her back. She straightened her back and replied in a completely flat and distant voice.

"Yes. The target has been located. With your order, we will move immediately."

The man slowly turned and faced her. Half of his face was still shrouded in the darkness, as if the darkness couldn't let him go and reluctantly kept half of him. The other exposed half of his face had his lips lifted up in an arc. Although the assistant couldn't see the complete smile, she instinctively knew, via virtue of experience, that that smile didn't mean anything good. It can only denote danger. "Why are you in so much of a hurry? We waited this long already. Why not wait a little longer? Besides, we also get a free ticket to watch a very interesting drama. To me, It's a win" the voice sounded as careless and distant as always. But the increasing pressure in the air told the assistant that the situation was anything but pleasant. Anyway, Westrock seems to have been peaceful for too long. It is only normal for waves to visit them very soon.

Aria felt like something was shining at her eyes and she felt increasingly uncomfortable. She turned and turned and tried blocking with her hands and that thing was so stubborn it kept disturbing her. She was almost angered into waking up until she felt like something covered the stinging thing up. She was no longer disturbed and slowly sank deeper into the bed and enjoyed her sleep. She didn't wake up until several hours later. She felt refreshed. She couldn't remember when she last slept so well. It seemed like even her body agreed with her as all her guard was let down and her joints sinked into complete ecstasy and relaxed. Her originally lifeless look regained a hint of colour and she no longer looked so much like a robot. Then she suddenly heard a deep laugh very close to her. It sounded like the owner of the voice was laughing right next to her ear.

She was suddenly startled into opening her eyes. The first thing she saw was a hand. It was a very beautiful hand. It was long and- okay, that wasn't the point. The point is what is a hand doing so close to her face? In all her twenty six years of living, she had never been so close to any other human, whether male or female. She immediately flinged the hand off, but the next second, the ray of the sun hit her eyes. It was so bright that she instinctively hid away. The same hand appeared in front of her again, blocking the sunlight.

"Be good. Don't push my hand away. You don't want the sun hurting this delicate face of yours right?"

And if Aria wasn't so busy flipping off on the sound of a voice suddenly appearing so close to her ear, she would have valiantly cursed him,

'Your mother! Your whole family is delicate! This wolf you're looking at is someone who leads a whole gang and has seen more corpses than those in your ancestral graveyard together so how dare you say this chief is delicate?'

But that is a curse for another day. Presently, Aria was so enranged by his act that she held his hand and tackled him down on the bed. After seeing his face, she finally remembered that this was the so-called mate that had fell from the sky. But even so, how dare he come so close to her. He had talked so close to her ear that she had shivered out of disgust. Yes, disgust. Aria was sure it was purely disgust and nothing else that made her suddenly shiver out of nowhere. After all, having a nice voice doesn't mean he could invade her personal privacy. Besides, he dared to come close to her after handcuffing her, he was not afraid of being hacked to death.

Aria looked down on him disdainfully and decisively maneuvered the handcuff to cuff both of their hands together in a fury. She regretted it the next moment when she noticed their very awkward position. Relaz was lying on the bed with his hands above his heads where she had cuffed both of their hands and she lay on top of him, pressed very close to him. Her embarrassment intensified when she heard the low rumble of his laugh below her. His chest vibrated with his laugh and directly vibrated into her heart. She suddenly had an itch to beat someone up with all the way her body started reacting to just his laugh. "Shut up"

"How about you shut me up?" Aria gave him a 'what the fuck' look and he started laughing again.  She tried standing up from him but he secured her firmly with his legs so that she had no way to stand up.

"Okay, I will stop teasing you. You're so cute you know. Do you know how cute you were while sleeping? You were like a cat. Barring your teeth at a stranger and purring when satisfied."

"How long were you watching me for?" Aria asked a very unnatural question with a very unnatural look in her eyes. Even Relaz was first caught off guard. He expected her to blow up at him for calling her a cat but unexpectedly, her attention was elsewhere,

"Don't know" he shrugged, "One, two, three hours. It's easy to get lost in you once in. I lost control of time." Aria looked like she couldn't decide whether to kill him with a gun or completely tear him apart in her wolf form. He still pretended like he didn't know death was knocking at his door and kept testing his luck, "Why? Wanna know if I kissed you secretly? Well, I'm not like you. See, you're so impatient you've already wanted to move to the next step when we literally just found out we are mates two days ago. Besides, looking at your cold face, one wouldn't know you're so active that you would directly press me down so early in the morning. No need to be so aggressive, I'm here right?" There was a triumphant smile on his face as he watched Aria's carefully dignified face collapse in an instant. Her face changed from white to green to yellow and finally to blazing red as she spoke through gritted teeth,

"Relaz!"

"Yes baby, I'm here." Aria directly knocked her head on his, in the absence of her hands and a bump grew in both of their foreheads.

"Ouch! I said it. You're quite aggressive in bed"

"I swear,I will directly murder you with my own two hands after I get out of here"

"Like I said before, I'm all yours baby"

Aria: "..."

Aria stared at the bump on his head that could be distinguished at a glance. His complexion is too white, so white that such a small bump actually became exaggerated on his body. She almost felt guilty. His eyelashes were thick and long almost like that of a girl. At such a distance, she could count every strand of it. His eyes were a very deep black as if he was shrouded in mystery and it gave him a very mysterious aura. But when he was laughing, his eyes curved and his eyelashes cast a shadow on his eyes, the original ink black eye lighting up as if a firework was blooming in his eyes. His mysterious aura gave way to a very inducing happiness that could spread to all those around him. It made one fascinated and she couldn't help but get lost in the beauty of those fireworks. His hair was the same ink black, very deep, silky and long. It was a contrast to her own fiery golden, but at this proximity, both hair interweave and blended perfectly together like they were made to be interwoven, not separate.

Suddenly, he broke the silence and whispered, "I wonder what your wolf looks like. You're so beautiful I'm actually curious about her" The spell that seemed to have been cast on her broke with his interruption and she rolled her eyes.

All of a sudden, she picked up a scent and her wolf which had been excited with his earlier words couldn't calm down. It was the scent of her mate, so of course she couldn't calm down. The scent was intoxicating and she couldn't help pressing down on him. He gave out a low grunt and she didn't even realize how the light blue in her eyes suddenly turned a very deep blue and Relaz was stunned in place. But she was still distracted. She stared at those lips that seemed to be calling out to her and gradually inched closer. Relaz was spellbound and stunned into place as her image in his eyes were gradually magnified in his eyes the closer she got.

'Closer'

'just one more centimetre'

'You're almost there Aria'

And just when either of them couldn't bear the teasing anymore, the door opened and a clear voice rang out tentatively,

"Master?"
