CHAPTER 78

Michael’s POV

“Dear Michael, by the time you see this letter, I will be miles and miles away. I had to leave. I needed to know the truth. I wanted to see it for myself. Don’t come looking for me. Take care of our son and make sure he’s happy.”

“What does it say?” Hercules asked. I crunched up the paper and marched to the car. Then I turned to the guards.

“Torture them till they bleed from every opening in their body, Hercules, Mia, and Zen; come on, there’s no time." I growled and continued walking. I got into the car and slammed the door shut. If I were to be honest, I think I saw Mia jump.

The scrunched paper lay on the kitchen table; it looked ugly, just like its content.

I eyed it warily, recognizing her handwriting peeping out. The letter inside bore news that had reshaped the contours of my life. I thought she was happy. As I unfolded the paper again, the words leapt at me like venomous snakes.
