KING TYRON's POV"It's been three days now. No sight of Hunter yet?" I questioned Cassius who was sorting through the stack of papers in the former Alpha's office."None yet my lord""Do you have any plans to find him or are we going to be here forever?"He dropped the papers he had in his hands."No, my lord. We are doing our best. The guards are also doing what they can but there's not a single trace of him anywhere. "You'll have to try harder than that. I don't plan to stay here longer than I have. Find Hunter""Yes my lord""And his loyalists?""They've been taken care of. The pack is slowly returning to normal and they are building up all they lost in that period""That's good. Send the old beta to the office. We need to have a talk""Yes my lord" I watched as Cassius stacked the papers on the closest desk and then he was walking out of the office. I rounded the table, going to the large window overseeing the pack. From here, he got a good view of what happens in the pack, being
"What? Why?" I asked with wide eyes.“I have no idea. She requests that you see her as soon as possible”It couldn’t be for anything good. Not when she had noticed the king's eyes on me. And the way she looked at me. I groaned. Why did the king have to stare so long?“I’ll go with you. So you don’t have to be alone with her” Martha said.“Will that change anything?” I asked.“Not really. But I won’t let her get physical with you. I can’t stop her verbal assaults though. I’m surprised that she returned. Last I heard, we wouldn’t be seeing her anymore”“She’s your friend right?”“I’ve known Hannah for a long time. We greet each other when we see but we don’t keep in touch otherwise and I’m no supporter of the things she does”“Martha?” A voice called and she grabbed my arm.“Let’s get going. Her mood will worsen if she waits for you”“What about Amaris?”“There’s nothing I can do for her” she answered immediately.“She’ll just have to endure until whenever Hannah returns to her father's
"What?" Hannah spluttered at the same time I cursed the king in my head. What the fuck is wrong with him? Why did he want to see me? Why did he have to send for me now?"You'll have to ask the king that question. Nevaeh" Hermes called and I instantly gathered my things, following him out of the room. I could feel Hannah's stare on me and I could almost guess what was going on in her head. The little I had done to convince her that the king had no interest in me had gone to waste. She was probably thinking of ways to deal with me."Drop this here. Someone will pick it up" Hermes gestured to the supplies I was carrying. I listened to him and set them on the ground. We continued wordlessly until we got to the king's office."Go on in" he nodded to the door and I listened, twisting the knob and pushing it open. I stood at the doorway, looking around in the dark room."Come here" his commanding voice broke the silence. Shivers ran down my spine at the tone of his voice and my wolf was alr
Helios was the last person I expected to see as I stepped downstairs. He seemed to be waiting patiently for something. Maybe for me. I groaned internally as I stood there. He had not seen me yet but if I made any movement he would see me. But I couldn't stand there forever. I shut my eyes, breathing deeply and making a decision. I continued walking farther, keeping my eyes on Helios. He saw me and that creepy smile he always had appeared. "You're really a hard person to see" he stalked towards me, his arms aching out but I avoided it. "Is something wrong?" He cocked his head to the side, studying me. I shook my head. A"Nothing. I just don't want to be touched" by you but I decided not to include that part. His eyes widened a fraction, probably surprised by my confident response. I saw annoyance flicker in his eyes but it disappeared as soon as it came. "I won't touch you then" An awkward silence settled between us and I was waiting for a minute before excusing myself."You seem to
I know I've heard it a lot of times in the past few days that I needed to be careful. I knew that already but sometimes I forgot. After what happened the last time and my last conversation with Amaris, it was at the forefront of my mind. Because if I didn't take the advice and threat with caution, I was going to be in serious trouble. I went about my normal duties, doing my best not to be seen and going out of the way of everyone. Hannah, the king, Martha, and that damned Helios. I often debated if I should say anything about Helios even though I was confused about whom to tell and scared they wouldn't believe me. I spoke to Amaris about it since she already had an idea that Helios had an insane obsession with me. She advised me not to say a word just yet. Aside from stalking me, he hadn't done any harm to me so nothing could be done to him. So, in my best interest, I just had to do my best to avoid him. But that was becoming increasingly difficult. Helios was everywhere. Hanging in
I stared hard at Amaris. Did she really come up with that thought and think it'll be a good idea? I could leave? To where? The guards had clear instructions. I couldn't leave unless I was given permission by the king the last time, Martha had to sneak me out of the castle under a disguise. Whether the king was present in the castle or not, if he didn't give his permission, there was no going out for me. "You don't look excited that he's going to be absent. Will you miss him that much?""Don't be ridiculous Amaris. Why would I be upset that he's leaving? I wished he could stay away from the castle forever if it was possible. "Then why is your face like that? I expect you to be screaming for joy, excited that he would be absent so you can leave the castle without his permission""That cannot work Amaris. What about the guards? What do I say to them when I get to the gate" Her mouth widened into an 'o'."I didn't think about that" There was a long drag of silence. "But how did you go
KING TYRON’s POV Hermes rushed in, Cassius coming after him. "What's the situation like? Has he been found?" I asked and they shook their head. "No. But there was a trail of bodies. He must have killed everyone who stood in his line to get away" I tapped my finger against my chin in thought. According to the first report, the stand-in alpha had sent the best guards after Hunter which was a good idea because they would need an army of their best fighters to hold him down. Hunter was trained...and skilled in the act of fighting. Even though he had gone senile, he would still be able to take down a few warriors sent to take him down but not for the trained army. He shouldn't have been able to kill them all. Something didn't seem right with this whole situation. From the onset...the first report, I had an inkling that there was something off. "Where are the bodies?" I asked the both of them. Seeing the bodies will answer a few of the questions I had about this 'massacre' caused by H
My body was having a difficult time responding. It felt like all my muscles had turned to steel as I watched the scene unfold in front of me. It all happened so fast. The minute I was cooking, looking forward to enjoying the time off and the next minute, my worst nightmare appeared in front of me. I tried to get away. I really did but I was no match for the deranged psychopath. I was still confused about how he had found me. Who could have told him? Martha? I didn't get to dwell on my thoughts when he attacked me. It felt like Kaden all over. I could never defend myself and he always ended up getting what he wanted. I wanted to fight. I really wanted to but my body closed off. And when it felt like my fate had already been decided, the king came. I've never felt so much relief seeing him before. He tore that bastard male off me and tore his head off his shoulder, blood splattering over my face, and my chest heaved heavily. There my assaulter was, lying dead and dismembered. He could
