Chapter 3(Damon)

'I would really love to be alone today,' Damon soliloquizes while pondering, on how he had completely forgotten about his mom’s memorial yesterday, feeling very upset and beating him self up about his actions.

'And I also blame the lady that bumped into me at the lobby…,I think she did that on purpose,' Damon's intrusive thoughts randomly wandered, in an attempt to make up excuses for his actions, or lack there of…

'I still think she did that on purpose' he mumbled as he shook his head, as if trying to shake off his errors from the previous day.

Besides forgetting his mom's memorial and bumping into the obnoxiously oblivious lady at the elevator, he also completely forgot about dinner with his Dad and stepbrother, which has been their family ritual for as long as he could remember, and that right there, was the icing on the cake that made up his dishevelled Sunday.

He lets out an exhausting sigh

'I really don't understand why he still makes us have dinner at his house every sunday,' Damon ponders as he strolls over from the full length glass walls giving him an overview of the city as the sun slowly rises, '….He knows I hate Jothan, I hate seeing the son of that whore who sent my mom to her early grave,' he huffs as his hands slightly curves into a fist, but releases it as he caught sight of it '...I know for a fact that he wants what's mine, and there's no way I’m gonna give that to him,' he pulls out his sit from under his desk as he drowns deeper in his thoughts

'his step mother on the other hand has been oddly quiet for months and that's outright suspicious,God knows what tricks she'll pull off her sleeves this time….I know she's been trying so hard to sabotage my position as CEO but there’s no way I’ll ever let that happen, not on my watch,' he drops into his seat and leans in on his desk

'Today better be productive, I should focus on work and forget about yesterday.' Finally shoving his chaotic thoughts aside.

Ohh thank God I got up early today,' I thought to myself while rummaging through disastrous ways my morning could have started, while feeling grateful to the higher ups.

Everywhere was bustling, so full and busy…and it was just 7:05am.' I shook my head in amazement while fixing my shirt

'I have to make a good impression today,' I thought to myself convincingly ...apparently this was literally my dream job, so i feel confident that I’ll do great.

I power walked my way down to the front desk that was occupied by a beautiful blond lady in her early thirties. “Hi, good morning ma’am, I’m supposed to resume working here today as Mr Robert’s secretary. Would you be so kind as to help me with directions to his office?” she asked with a bright smile on her face.

“Ohh ok you must be Naomi Steve,the boss made mention of your arrival… just take the elevator and head up to the last floor” the lady answered back with a warm smile.

“Ok ma’am, thank you” I said heading towards the elevator.

She's so nice,' I thought to myself as an involuntary smile crept on my lips

This building is extremely huge,..Mrs Stone really got herself gold by giving birth for the owner of Zino's cooperation,a multibillion dollar company.

As I got out of the elevator I saw a tall and handsome looking young man dressed in a work suit standing just outside an office door with the sign CEO dented on a golden plate just above the door.

Could that be Mr Damon?' I thought

and before i could even bring myself to say anything

“Good morning, you must be Naomi Steve, We heard you will be joining us today as the boss' secretary, I’m Daniel his personal assistant and it’s nice to meet you Naomi”, Daniel said stretching out his hands to shake me

So he's not the CEO after all, “Good morning mr Daniel, it’s nice to meet you too” i replied while scanning out the whole area

''So where will i be working from for the time being?”

I asked,giving Mr Daniel my sweetest smile.

''This way'' Mr Daniel gestured to a door just adjacent from the ceo's office''...follow me'' he prompted me with a smile on his face as he walt's down the hallway,leading me to the door.

He opens the door wide for me to step in and gets in right behind me

I gasped audibly at the sight before me, the workspace was so huge and everything looked so exquisite and expensive, the deco was beautiful, absolutely breathtaking… Wait, two desks?

“Yes,we will both be sharing this work space right outside boss' office” he replied as he noticed the questioning look of confusion written on her face after i saw two working desks in the room

''Oh, okay'' I smiled softly as I nodded my head .

Daniel gazed softly at my face admiring my tenderness and taking in my beauty and feminine essence

“Uuhh, that’s fine by me, please do well to guide and take care of me during my time here”,I beamed at Daniel sweetly

“Definitely,... a piece of advice, just be obedient and do whatever the boss asks of you. The others before you were fired because they weren’t loyal and obedient”

“Ok. I’ll do my best '' I replied a bit shaky, knowing exactly what I came here for.

“You can set up your things on that table over there, this one's mine,'' he noted playfully ''...and I'll be at the fax room to prepare some documents for the boss” he said, going over to his work space to organise said files for the boss.

“Ohh! is he in already? It’s not even 8am yet, I thought CEO’s could come in anytime but not this early” taken aback, I thought out loudly

“Don’t be too surprised, you will get used to it. Boss is usually the first person to resume work around here, ...uuh, and another piece advice, take your work here very seriously”

“Ok Mr Daniel, Thanks a lot” I answered Mr Daniel while settling down.

'So Mr Damon will be behind those doors, ...the innocent man I will be seducing' i sigh as i thinks to myself

'I think this job is going to be a lot harder than I thought it to be,...well, I actually like the work as a secretary to a multibillion dollar business company but the job of trying to seduce Mrs Stone's step son is going to be a lot harder than I imagined.' deep in thoughts,i let out another harsh sigh

'and it seems like Mrs stone stepson is a nice and easy going person,...hard working too, for the love of God!! he’s at work before anybody else, that’s a sign of a competent boss,' I thought to herself.

Mr Daniel noticed her sighing up and down all over the place

“Do you want to take a look round the building?” he opted out while getting the papers he just printed out and puts them on his table

“I’d love that, but it seems like you're kinda busy and I don’t wanna disturb nothing”, i replied swiftly

“Oh no. I’m done now, I’ll be submitting these later in the day, so please let me show you around” he insisted

“Ok. That's so nice of you mr Daniel” she said getting up to follow him

''Please call me Daniel or Dan for short'' he retorted

''Okaayy, …Dan''she obliged hesitantly

'' that wasn't so hard, was it?'' he smirked playfully as he led her out of the office towards the elevator.

“It’s a twenty storey building complex and this last floor is for the boss, his personal assistant and his secretary as you can see” Daniel said while stepping into the elevator and I followed

“Each floor is built specifically for different departments headed by different HOD's as the boss can't be everywhere at the same time, and the ground floor is the reception. We have the HR department, the tech department, the branding and marketing department, the sales and finance accounting department, the operation management department and the list goes on” Daniel explained to me

“That’s a lot, I hope I get along with people here. But what exactly are my duties as the secretary?”I asked, eager to know since this was my first time working in an office space.

“You will be assigned duties directly from the boss, but don’t worry everyone is nice and you’ll be fine” Daniel reassured me with a smile.

“Thanks for showing me around, even if we couldn't exactly go everywhere” i giggled endearingly ''...I look forward to learning a lot from you” i finished with an innocent smile.

“you'll be fine. I better head back now, I need to submit those documents I worked on to the boss” he stated

“Ohh ok. I'll see you around, lemme just walk around a lil' bit then I'll come back up” i replied

''Okay, don't take too long'' he cautioned

''I won't'' she muttered silently as she turned away to continue exploring this absolutely magnificent structure she now works in.

“Naomi! the boss would like to see you now, his hands have been tied all day but he seems to now have some spare time” Daniel said stepping into their shared office.

“Thank you Daniel.'' I responded while getting up and dusting off invisible specs from my dress

'' I was wondering why he hasn’t called for me yet” but wait .. how did Mrs stone get me this job as a secretary and I didn’t get interviewed? Daniel said the boss appreciates loyalty, so why didn’t he check who was going to be his secretary before I was assigned to be one”, i thought to myself

‘He should be really careful, Having a stepmom like Mrs stone could really put him in a lot of trouble’, I thought to myself feeling bad for what she’s about to do Mr Damon.

“Good morning sir, I’m Naomi Steve and I was assigned to be your new secretary”, I said entering his office.

Ohh it’s that arrogant dude I saw yesterday evening while I was rushing to use the elevator, It’s definitely him. Maybe he was just in a bad mood ,he doesn’t look bad at all. He’s really good looking and damn those eyes were sexy and he looks so good on cooperate.

I don’t think I should be saying this but wow he’s very good looking.

“You can stop staring now and this is why I never wanted females to work as my secretary and personal secretary, are you the lady with no sense of direction that ran into me yesterday?” Damon asked looking at my face with a scorn on his face

“Sir, I didn’t see you coming and I wasn’t staring”, I stammered trying to explain myself

“It’s ok. I don’t really want to hear it. I’m only working with you because my dad assigned you here, and please work with a sense of direction and don’t run into people in my company. You can go, tell Daniel to show you what to do, I’ll be leaving for a meeting and make sure you report to my office first thing tomorrow morning by 7am”, Damon said and went back to what he was doing like no one was ever there.

“Was that really who I felt pity for and wanted to really save his ass? Well he just made it easier for me, how could he be so handsome and also be so cold and mean?” I said leaving his office

I’m going to really do this and I don’t even care what he’s going to lose. He’s at the losing end and I don’t stand to lose anything so why not just do Mrs stone bidding’s and teach that arrogant cutie a lesson. He doesn’t get to look down on me because I don’t have money and have to work under him, I’m really pissed off.
