Chapter seven

“Good morning Naomi”, Sophie said with a smile that definitely looks so fake, like she forced it out

“Morning Sophie and why are you here this early?” I asked looking at her with suspicious eyes

“I just wanted to greet you and I hope you enjoyed yourself last night?”, Sophie asked with a sinister look on her face

“Thanks a lot Sophie, yes I did, it was fun”, I replied giving her a fake smile in return knowing fully well why she was here

“I’ll see you later then,have fun while it last”she murmured the last part as she walked out slowly

“Ok. Bye”, she’s obviously here because I was talking with the boss all night,it looks like what she has for our boss is more than a crush.

Rrng rrng , the office phone rang……

“Naomi come to my office now, don’t waste any minute”, he said with so much authority and the line was cut off immediately without even waiting for my reply

“Good morning sir , sir you called for me?”, I said immediately i entered his office and stood in front of his desk.

“Daniel won’t be coming in today due to a personal issue and you will take over his duties from today for two weeks”, he said after taking a quick glance at me.

“But sir…. Can we not hire someone to be your personal assistant for the two weeks?”, I said innocently because I wasn’t sure I could do that much of a task.I’m well aware of how Daniel moves up and down the company and he works till very late

“I didn’t ask for suggestions Naomi, I just told you what’s going to take place. You will obviously get extra bonus so why are you suggesting I hire someone else or are you expressing your sadness to me by declining to fill in for him because Daniel isn’t going to be around you for the next two weeks?”, he asked with no expressions on his face.

“Oh no sir, I was just asking. It will be a lot of work for me to be your personal assistant and I’m definitely not sad but maybe just a little worried for Daniel”, I replied not understanding why i should be sad about Daniel not being around me. We haven’t known each other for too long anyways and we don’t know anything about each other.

“You don’t need to explain, I really don’t want to hear it. Just get yourself familiar with these documents in front of you, you need to learn and memorize them. You can also take the documents home and go through my schedule for the next two weeks. Next week is going be very hectic and busy so prepare ahead, we will both be going on a business trip”, he said and told me all I needed to know and he goes back operating his laptop to what he was doing before I came in.

“Ok sir, I’ll take my leave now”,I added as i walked out of his office and I began to think and worry how busy next week was gonna be.

“Did you notice how long Naomi and the boss were talking last night?”, Sophie asked Nora

“Don’t think too much about it Sophie, they were obviously talking about work. I know you do have a crush on our boss but don’t go creating scenarios in your head” Nora adviced.

“But they also left together, I was waiting patiently to get a chance to talk to him but Naomi just had to stay there all evening not sparing me a chance to talk to him”, she lamented bitterly to Nora

“They were obviously talking about work and have you forgotten that she’s his secretary and I just even found out that Daniel, our boss personal assistant won’t be coming in for some days or maybe weeks and she’s gonna fill in for him”, Nora added as she stoop up and walked over to the fax machine.

“What the hell!, how can you just be telling me this now and how come I didn’t know of this? She shouldn’t be too close to him infact I don’t want any girl near him anymore”, she said as she stomped her feets on the ground.

“Be gentle Sophie , don’t hurt yourself. This is no ordinary crush right? It’s looking more of an obsession than just a crush”,Nora said as she immediately puts a stop to what she was doing to take a good look at Sophie to be sure she’s ok and isn’t suffering from any hangovers

“It’s no obsession it’s love Nora..true love, Damon’s the only reason I came to work here. I’ve loved him since our high school days but he never noticed me”, Sophie finally cried out

“Jeez. For real? I noticed that you looked too well to do to be given a job in this department”,Nora said as all her doubts and questions were finally answered.

“Please don’t tell anyone what I just disclosed to you. It’s true love Nora and I need you to believe me. I want him to one day notice me and I don’t want to share that attention with anyone not even Naomi”, Sophie said as she confessed all to Nora.

“All I know for sure is that Naomi is a nice person and I don’t think she’s trying to take anyone’s attention from you and so you should definitely not fight or quarrel with her over nothing”, Nora said as she decided to keep her friends secret
