Chapter ten

“Sophie hey, how long have you been standing there? Do you need anything? Or you want to see the boss?”, I asked not really bothered if she saw or heard anything, I just didn’t want trouble

“Oh not really, I heard you were back from the business trip with the boss so I wanted to stop and say hi but it seems you guys are busy”, she said putting on a sheepish smile.

“Sophie I know you have a crush on the boss but I hope you don’t misunderstand whatever just happened now”, I tried explaining

“I didn’t hear much, I just heard when you yelled you don’t agree with him. Is there anything you would like to share? " she asked, staring at me with eager eyes.

“Would you like to get closer with the boss?”, i asked as I happily thought of ways to torture damon without doing it myself.

“Would you really do that for me?”, she asked looking really excited

“Of course I would. What are friends for? If you want to get closer then I can help with that”, I muttered and smiled because Damon will not suspect a thing….

“Ok Naomi. That’s really nice of you. So What should I do?”, she asked eagerly and fully ready to do anything to get close to that jerk.

“Not much. Just be here and assist me”, I said

“Okay. That’s easy, I could do that but won’t the boss be angry or suspicious as to why I’m here?”, she asked

“Oh no. I’m sure the boss would be delighted that you are here, just trust me and do as I say”, I muttered with so much joy in my heart.

“Ok. So I’ll just let him know that I’m here to help you out incase he asks?”, she asked to be sure it’s ok staying here

“Oh yes, you can tell him that. Daniel’s not around, so you decided to help me out and maybe just maybe, you can never know he might be glad that such a nice girl works in his company ”, I said trying my very best to convince her. I needed her to annoy Damon, he’s definitely someone that doesn’t like having clingy girls around and she’s definitely one.

“Thanks for doing this Naomi. I’m really grateful”, she said, giving me her best smile…

“Oh dear you don’t want to say that just yet, I just hope nothing bad happens between us. I don’t want a fight but I’ll need you to disturb this jerk a little. And if you are lucky, you might get a kiss, since he’s in search of lips”, I whispered to myself giving a heartfelt smile

“Ok. So I’ll just sit here and go back to my department when I’m needed”, she said pointing to Daniel’s desk

“Anywhere you want darling, I’m glad you're such a great help”, I said mockingly.

I definitely did not have anything against Sophie. I just needed her to annoy this jerk.

Rrng rrng …..

“ it’s the boss let’s see what he wants”, i said giving Sophie an innocent smile

“Yes sir..”, i answered professionally

“Come in now with those documents for voguey industries”, he said and cut the line.

“That was the boss and he will be needing very important documents, do you mind bringing it to him?”, I asked even when I knew she would definitely oblige…

“I wouldn’t mind at all, where are the documents?”’ She jumped up from her seat ready to go in

“Calm down pretty, you need to act professional when in there and he loves to talk so just try your best to engage him in as many conversations as you can. You could even decide to go over the documents together, I think that should give you enough time to capture him with your beauty and intelligence, right?”, i asked as I handed over the documents to her giving her a thumbs up

“Thanks a lot Naomi, I won’t forget your kind gesture”, she muttered while adjusting her clothes and she knocked lightly on his door and walked in.

“Good morning sir, how was your business trip?”, she asked immediately as she stepped in without giving Damon a second to notice who stepped in…

“And you are?”, he immediately asked as he sets his eyes on her

“I’m Sophie sir, I started working with you last month, I’m from the sales and finance accounting department? I was here with my coworker Nora when you assigned Naomi her first task? Did you now see me at the evening gathering for Naomi?”, she asked, trying to refresh his memory but he had none of her and he didn’t know there was a Sophie in his company.

“I’m sorry uhm … what’s your name again”, he asked

“I’m Sophie sir, Sophie Brooke”,she said hoping he would at least remember her last name but it doesn’t seem like that worked either

“Okay Sophie Brooke, what are you doing here? And why do you have the documents I asked Naomi to bring in?”,he asked with confusion written all over his face.

“And I heard you address my secretary by her first name, that shouldn’t repeat itself again. Everyone should address her by her last name”, he clearly stated more of an order, making Sophie feel jealous and humiliated

“Ok sir. Miss Steve asked me to bring them to you, that you needed them”, she answered as she didn’t know what else to say. How could her long-time crush not remember her last name even when she wrote several love letters to him in high school.

“I decided to lend a hand knowing how tedious the work might be for only Miss Steve as I learnt that Daniel would not be around for a while”, she said hoping he would appreciate her kind thoughts

“You can drop the documents on my table and call in Miss Steve for me on your way out”, he said without thinking twice as he was so pissed off.

“Naomi seems to be very bold”, he whispered to himself as Sophie walked out feeling entirely humiliated….
