Chapter 5: Fake Relationship

Emelia's Pov

We reached his house, and he alighted first while I had no choice but to follow suit. Leo unlocked the door, and we both walked in, giving me the chance to finally admire how beautiful the house was.

"This is beautiful," I said to no one in particular, admiring the different antiques used in decorating the house.

"This will be your home for now on, at least till the contract is over," he stated coldly. "The housekeeper will be back tomorrow; in the meantime, you have the house to yourself; feel free to do whatever you want."

"Won't you be living here with me?" I asked.

"That'll be once in a while."

"So, you plan on leaving me all alone here?"

"Yes, and I'm sure you'll get used to it."

"But..."

"Leo will bring you the contract later. And right now, I need to be at a meeting," he uttered firmly. "So, take good care of yourself, Emelia." With that, he turned around and walked out, leaving me all alone in the empty house.

I stood in the middle of the house, gazing around with no idea of what to do. I was starting to regret suggesting a contract just so I could get back at Jeffrey, but then... That was the only way I could think of to getting back at him.

That was the only thing I could think of to make the man I spent seven years of my life pay for ruining me.

The ringtone of my phone rang in the quiet house. I brought out my phone from my pocket, staring blankly at the name on the screen. I let out a frustrated breath before accepting the call.

"How are you doing, mom?" I asked, already knowing the answer to my question. There's no way she could be fine after I called off the wedding she had planned for years now. She was happy when I told her Jeffrey and I would finally be getting married, but it seems I ruined that.

"Where are you?" She asked instead.

"Somewhere, mom," I responded. This definitely wasn't the right time for me to tell her that I was in a relationship with someone else already.

"What happened between you and Jeffrey for you to call off the wedding, Emelia? I've been trying to reach you since he informed me of your decision to call off the wedding when both of you should be saying your vows at the moment. So tell me, Emelia. Tell your mother, What made you call off the wedding with the man you are so much in love with?" She inquired, and I bit my lips as tears fell from my eyes. I told myself I wouldn't be crying for anything related to him, but it seems that won't be happening anytime soon.

"He cheated on me, mom," I answered, recalling how my groom was having sex with another woman. I felt a sharp pain in my chest, and once again, I was starting to feel suffocated.

"Eme..."

"He cheated on me and went ahead to tell me it was normal. He didn't bother to apologize, but he expected me to be okay with it. And that, that was from a man I've spent seven years of my life loving."

A long deafening silence took over. I know she was finding it hard to believe, just like how I had thought it was all a nightmare. A nightmare that I was going to wake up from but that never happened.

"You gave him a well-deserved beating, right?" She mused, causing me to smile.

"Does slapping him count?"

"Depends on the number of slaps you gave that bastard. I can't believe he cheated on my daughter. He must be really blind!" She snapped.

"How is Dad taking the news?" My dad has never fully accepted Jeffrey. He never liked him, and he has always shown it, and the only reason he agreed for me to get married to him was because I told him how much I loved Jeffrey and how much I wanted to be with him.

"Well... The old guy was happy that you finally decided to get rid of Jeffrey. But he was still angry because he knows how much you loved me and told me he must have done something for you to call off the wedding."

"He didn't blame me?"

"You know your father loves you too much to do that."

"Yeah,"

"I'm going to leave you alone to rest, Emelia. Take good care of yourself, okay? And your father and I will come and check up on you soon."

"Okay, mom." With that, she ended the call, leaving me all alone in the silence once again.

I let out a huge sigh, having no idea what and what not to do. Isaiah, being eager to leave, forgot to show me exactly where my room is.I decided to lay on the couch, staring at the ceiling, hoping to fall asleep.

The sound of the door being pushed open jerked me out of my thoughts. I stood up, facing the red-haired lady that was standing in front of me. A lady whose face I found familiar, but I'm damn sure I have never laid eyes on her.

"Who are you?" She hissed, dropping her bag on the chair and taking her seat in front of the couch facing me.

Her blue eyes glowed, and her red hair was tied to a bun. She was a beauty, and I'm damn sure she knows that.

"Do I have to answer that?" I responded, finding her attitude rude.

"I'm guessing you would when the police arrive here then," she grimaced, glaring at me. I had seen her picture somewhere, but I just couldn't pin the point.

"You have to be kidding me, I said, rolling my eyes.

"No. I'm not! Now, tell me what the hell you are doing in my fiance's house?!"

"Fiance??"

"Yes, Isaiah Lynn is my fiance.”
