CHAPTER 27

Ashford continued moving, ignoring his mother as he walked into his room. After laying Luna on his king-size bed, he turned around and walked out. His mother was still there, where he had left her, wearing a serious expression.

“Go on,” he urged. “Tell me what you want to say.”

Evelyn's teeth gritted at his tone. “I made it clear that you have to get married to Diana, not Luna. You shouldn't have gotten engaged to her in the first place.”

“I also told you that I was mated to Luna,” he replied. “I'm not 12 anymore, and you can't control me. Give it up, Mother.”

He studied his mother's face; she looked like she was about to snap but controlled her anger well.

“You are my son.”

“So she is my bride.”

“Diana is your bride.”

“Remember what I said, Mother. If you keep this going, I wouldn't mind sending Diana out of the kingdom.”

Evelyn's face twitched in anger. “You have to let her go; you should get engaged to Diana. She has loved you since you were kids.”
