CHAPTER 19

It was almost time for the banquet, but Ashford was nowhere to be found. Adrian and Phoebe were already long gone. She had a long chat with Phoebe, although Phoebe had been stopped by her mother from visiting Luna.

Luna was grateful for her; after the boys, she had no females to talk to. Now, she was seated next to his father, and he was immersed in a book.

Luna's fingers tapped nervously on the edge of the table. Her gaze wandered, and a subtle frown crept onto her face. Is it right to choose Adrian over Ashford? It was like she was ignoring his feelings for her own benefit.

“Father, do you really think I should get engaged to Adrian and ignore Ashford's proposal?” She asked her father as she leaned against the chair. “He was always there for me.”

Bartram let out a deep sigh. “I like it better when you are asking for advice than when you are negotiating with me.”

“I'm not joking," Luna asserted, her brows knitting together. She leaned forward, eyes fixed on her father.
