CHAPTER 18

He walked into the dark hallway, his jacket flowing in rhythm as he moved. His footsteps echoed in the empty hallway as he moved.

A female maid passed by him and slightly bowed. “Your highness.”

Ignoring her, he brushed his hair off his face with a hard look on his face and pushed open the throne room door.

The elders were already seated in the room; all eyes fell on him as he made his way to the throne. His mother was also sitting on the right side of the throne.

“Your highness.” The elders rose to their feet and bowed. “Welcome back.”

Dismissing them with a snap of his fingers, they took their seats.

“You were late.” His mother, Evelyn, muttered.

Taking his seat, he crossed his legs and peered at the elders in front of him.

“I was late, and I am not sorry.” Ashford said. “Now, let's get to it. Why are you all here?”
