CHAPTER 22

Biting her lips, Luna watched Evelyn sit up in the lake. A smirk was plastered on Luna's face as she watched the woman get out of the lake. She clutched tightly to Ashford; she could feel the woman glaring at her, but she felt safe with Ashford by her side.

"Oh, it's you, Mother.” Luna muttered with theatrical flair, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “What have I done to you? Why did you try to push me into the lake? You ended up falling in instead.”

Evelyn's teeth gritted in frustration after getting a complaint from Diana. She was here to teach Luna a lesson.

“You tripped me.” Evelyn muttered.

“You pushed me, but I got out of the way. Do you want me to apologize to you for your lack of great stamina?”

Evelyn glared at Luna while she smiled at her.

“Mother, since you are here.” Ashford muttered, ignoring the fact that his mother was dripping wet. “Let me introduce you to the future queen, Luna, my soulmate.”
