chapter seven

I was already done making breakfast by the time Kayden woke up. He came out of his bedroom in his pyjamas while rubbing his eyes with his hands.

"Good morning mummy" he said while giving me a kiss

"Good morning baby" I replied.

"Are those pink pancakes" he said excitedly

I smiled a knowing smile and wiggled my eyebrows, he squealed and ran to take one off the plate.

"Kayden!" I scolded "did you brush your teeth"

He gave me the cutest smile ever and I felt my heart melt. Nope! Nope not gonna work this time.

"No pancakes until you brush your teeth okay Mr." I said with my hands on my hips.

After breakfast, we decided to binge watch one of Kayden's favorite shows. By the time it was midday, Kayden was becoming restless, he wanted to go outside.

"Mommy it will only be for five minutes I promise" he said with large doe eyes

"Baby I said no. Please listen to mummy" I said

"But I'm not gonna go too far" he whined

I could understand how hard being cooped up in a house was for Kayden. Wolves are outdoor creatures, they crave nature.

"Baby we've already been through this okay" I knelt down to his level and held his tiny hands in mine. "I promise that after this I'll take you wherever you want okay"

"But mommy I wa...."

"No buts" I interrupted with a stern expression "you're staying here....with me"

He looked so sad that it broke my heart.

"Do you......... want to play hide and seek?" I asked mischievously

He seemed to light up at the request and proceeded to nod his head exaggeratedly in response.

"Okay you go hide and then I'll seek" I said

Before I could start counting he ran towards my room while laughing.

We played hide and seek for an extremely long time, Kayden just couldn't get enough. I got so exhausted that I decided it was time to take a nap. When I woke up, the house was awfully quiet, it was never this quiet with Kayden around.

"Kayden?" I called but no reply

I went to check his room but the bed was empty. I went to the kitchen and then the living room but it was all empty. I began to panic at this point.

"Kayden!" I called but this time louder.

I checked everywhere but he wasn't any where in the house. My heart was beating so fast I thought it would rip out of my chest.

"Kayden!" I yelled as I ran out of the house in full panic mode.

I went to the pack house because most of the pack kids were there. When I got to the entrance, I saw a fleet of cars parked outside. Both outside the pack house and inside was filled with The packs unmated females. They were all dressed up as if there was a party going on, most of them were just casually hanging around as if this was what they normally did everyday.

"Did you see Kayden" I asked the first girl I saw

"I haven't seen him today" she replied

"Oh my God" I said with tears in my eyes

"Is Kayden missing" another purple haired female that I recognized as Abigail asked me with worry

"Yes" I said at the brink of tears. My voice was already shaking at this point " we took a nap and when I woke up he was gone"

"Relax he must be in the woods touching grass or something " said the first girl. My eyes widened.

"It's a wolf thing, no biggie" said Abigail nonchalantly. Was that supposed to make me feel better?

"We were supposed to stay indoors today" I said

"Why would you stay indoors......oh" Abigail said  when she finally realized why

My eyes brightened when an idea came to mind " could you girls help me sniff him out" I pleaded

"I would love to help but...." The first girl seemed reluctant " I mean I don't want to loose this opportunity" she added

What opportunity was she talking about?

"Hailey her son is missing!" Abigail exclaimed in disbelief

"I know, I know but I could never get a chance like this. I mean EVER" said Hailey with a drop dead serious face

Abigail let out a loud breath as if to say she understood completely, but I did not understand at all. On a normal day I would have asked more questions but today was not that day, I need to find my son.

"It's okay if you can't do it, I'll just find someone else" I said, turning around to leave

"Claire wait! I'll find him for you" Abigail said

I beamed with happiness "thank you so much Abigail"

"Just wait here so I don't have to find you too when I see him " she said

I nodded my head in understanding.

The pack house common room was crowded with so many people that it was hard to move around freely. I went to seat at the back because whatever was going on was none of my business.

"I heard he took down an army of wolves with nothing but his claws" a girl said beside me

"Really?" The other said in excitement

"I can't believe he's really here in our pack, I mean who would've thought" said the first girl

"Imagine if one of us gets picked to be his mate, do you know what that would do to our status, our families" another said dreamily

Who were they all waiting for and what was so amazing about this person that all the unmated wolves in the pack wanted a piece of him. Heck! Who was I to care anyways. This is a wolf thing and it is none of my business, I need to find my son and go back to my house where he will be safe.

"He is so hot" the first girl squealed and the others joined in excitement

Suddenly the common room that was overly noisy became suddenly quiet. All heads turned in one direction, waiting for someone. They must have perceived the scent of whoever they were waiting for.

Whoever they were waiting for must be one heck of a powerful wolf. I couldn't see who he was because I was seated at the back, all I could see was the colour of his hair. I felt a feeling of deja Vu but I brushed it off.
