chapter ten

My fingers trembled a little as I began to pack Kayden's clothes into his bag. What alpha Duncan had said about Jacobi had made me a little bit terrified of him.

"Mommy where are we going?" Kayden asked

I knelt down in front of him and touched the ends of his black hair, thesame as Jacobi's.

"We're moving honey" I said

"Are we leaving the pack?" He asked with tears in his eyes

"Yes baby, but you can come visit whenever you want okay." I said and he nodded in response

"Okay mommy " he said with a smile "but I'm still gonna miss everyone"

"Don't feel sad baby. Everything is okay" I said while wrapping him in my arms. I didn't want my son to feel so sad about leaving but we had to, this was the right thing to do I guess. Every child needs his father as much as he needs his mother.

"Kayden I need to tell you something really important" I said cautiously

"What is it" he asked curiously

I took a deep breath to brace myself for what I was about to tell him. Kayden had met Jacobi but he didn't know who he was, he needed to know, he deserved to know.

"Remember that man we met earlier" I asked trying to start off light

"Yeah. You mean the one that hugged me" he said

"Yes the man that hugged you" I said

"I like him, he smells just like me" he said happily

"Really? I didn't notice" I said

"That's because you're human silly" he said, laughing heartily

"Oh right I forgot" I said playing along to his joke

Kayden laughed harder and I couldn't help but laugh too.

"Mommy I have something to say too" Kayden suddenly whispered to In my ear

"What is it sweetie?" I asked

"I know the man from earlier is my daddy" he said with a grin.

I was beyond shocked at this point. How the fuck did my five years old son figure that out?

"How did you know that?" I asked in surprise

"I already told you, he smells exactly like me" he said happily

I stared at my five years old son in awe and wonder.

We went to the pack house immediately after we had finished packing and I was surprised to see the crowd that had gathered to say goodbye to us. My eyes became teary and I had to blink a couple times to hold them back.

"We're really gonna miss you Claire, and you too little wolf" Tracy said

"I'm gonna miss you too, all of you" I said. I began to hug them one by one and I had never felt so much love from people that were not blood related to me yet treated me like I was family.

A few minutes later and a car pulled up in front of the pack house, Jacobi came out from the back seat and all the wolves bowed their heads. I followed suit because I didn't want to mess up again like I did earlier but I noticed that Kayden didn't bow.

Kayden walked towards Jacobi and gave him a hug,  I was a little bit surprised at how fast he was warming up to him but maybe it's a wolf thing. Jacobi picked him up and carried him on his shoulders which made Kayden to squeal happily.

Jacobi walked towards me with Kayden on his shoulders.

"Claire look at me" he commanded

I raised my head to stare at him, the moment I made eye contact for some reason I couldn't look away. I felt like he could see right through my soul, like I had been stripped bare in front of him and there was nothing to hide.

Jacobi just stared at me before picking up my bags like it weighed nothing and walked into the car.

I waved goodbye to everyone one last time before going into the car.

I was seated in beside Jacobi who had Kayden perched on his lap. We were seated so close to each other that our shoulders touched.

When we got to our destination, Kayden was already asleep in his arms. I walked out of the car and I was baffled at how enormous his house, I mean mansion was. I had seen a lot of beautiful houses but this was just .... magnificent.

"Whoever built this house deserves an award" I said in awe

He chuckled "it was built more than a hundred years ago" he said nonchalantly. I turned back and gaped at him

"Are you serious" I asked

"Come on I'll take you to your room" he said without answering me.

The inside of the house was more beautiful than the outside.

"This is insane" I whispered underneath my breath

We went up the stairs and then he opened the door to a room that was brightly painted.

"This will be Kayden's room, tomorrow I'll get it decorated" he said

"That's great" I said

He layed Kayden on the bed and then took me to another room that was bigger than the entire cottage I was living in.

"And this is our room" he said

"Our room?" I asked with my eyes wide open

"Yes" he said
