HAYLE's POV.

“This is bad, really bad.” I muttered beneath my breath, my eyes scanning through the files in my hands, and my palms became sweaty while I was struck by a sudden migraine.

I ran my hands to my hair right after slamming the documents into the table.

“What have you been up to? What exactly have you been doing?” I asked, yet their silence infuriated me more; it seemed almost as if they were pleased to see me in such distress.

“I have a deadline to hold in less than a day, and you all bring this missing file and find missing reports for me. What have you been up to all week? Even a day before, how am I to present to the board new product ideas when the entire fund for the project has been looted from scratch?” I asked again.

I wasn't pleased with their stares, and I fidgested, air narrowing down my lungs, I loosened the top button on my shirt.

“Should we tell Mr. alex ?” The head of finance is required,

My stone-cold glare passed across to him and probably rang a bell in hi

ALEX's POV.“What happened next?” I asked, my phone glued to my ears while I pranced back and forth down the halls. I swallowed hard, reeling in every thought of how the entire scenario could have played out.“Mr Alex ?” She called out my name. I could imagine her seated against her balcony, the laptop on her table, her feet crossed while she leaned into the armchair, her phone strapped to her ears."Yes, Hayle, you did a good job, and I'll be sure to commend you for it. I'm happy about the progress. I knew you were the perfect one for the job. Imagine if I never had you in charge of what would have happened.” I asked meekly, a faint smile on my face, before I punched myself on the couch.“Nothing else? That's all?” She asked out of sheer curiosity. I missed her. With each word she said, I pictured it in my head. My eyes were pressed firm, and her soothing voice rang like music to my ears. “What else is it that I should know about? Any other problems!?” I asked him, half-mindedly, on

This was not only their habit, but also mine. I made sure to give them a slight tip whenever there's a very huge amount involved in any contract signed.“Be sure to share the money with your juniors, okay?” I asked again, tilting my head slowly and cracking up my eyebrows, knowing well that it was always one thing or another with them. Each of them was a department head, a director of a team, and I didn't want the younger lines to leave our “Also, it did come to my understanding they'd have a lot if you had a thing or two to say in my absence about Miss Hayle and me, and I can see your lo

HAYLE'S POV.“Did I by chance do something wrong? Off the radar, perhaps? Piss you off by coming here.” Alex asked all at once.I tilted my head sideways before passing him a warm smile. I knew he was curious, and he seemed to have been bothered judging by how Dustin had acted.“No, nothing; that's your fault. We are good to go. Pardon my friend for acting in such a manner; I should be the one asking for your forgiveness. You didn't offend me in any way; it's just that there had been a couple of rough patches and this... I wouldn't want to bother you, but know it's not your fault; he acts like that every once in a while, and I'll sort it out.” I responded to Alex 's questions.Of course I had a whole lot cooped into my head at the moment; I wasn't certain of which I was meant to fathom; it gave me the irks a little and made me sick, thinking of how Dustin had acted out.I had been so startled and confused at the same time that some random stranger would have thought more had probably

HAYLE'S POV.My fingers remain curled up into my hair, my lips moving in sync to the slow jazz played through the stereo of the driver, my eyes against the window while a light drizzle of rain fell through the glass.“We are there, mam.” The cab driver called out to my attention, and I nodded with a faint smile before standing to my feet.“Thanks sir.” Before passing a bill to him, I responded.“Keep the change,” I responded to him keenly with my words. Not holding the entire thing back, perhaps if I was a little more nice, something good could probably come my way.I shrugged slowly, dragging my feet towards the entrance. I could see Emily seated comfortably on the chair placed on the porch.“Wow. That's kind of early; what happened? Did anyone get into an accident? She asked about lighting up the end of her cigarette. I rolled my eyes, trying to hold in my pain.“Nope, nothing of that sort; maybe worse, you know what? It doesn't even matter; I'll end up walking away on my own terms.

ALEX POV.“Non Lies I promise, but can we set off or perhaps talk in my absence? It's freezing out here, and it wouldn't hurt to stay in a closed space.” I asked slowly, batting my eyelash in her direction, knowing so well that the only thing I wanted was to be in close proximity with her. I wanted her to see me close up while I poured out my heart's content to her. I wanted to hold her palms against my chest while I spoke, just so she could feel my heartbeat and the sincerity in my words.“Closed spaces? Do you have anything to say, or are you simply searching for an excuse telling me all these because if that is what the case may be, then perhaps I'll have to leave now. You do as you deem fit, okay?” She asked, turning towards the door once again."Okay, wait, please!” I called to her, swallowing hard. I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted, and I knew I didn't like the stone-cold gaze passed down to me, but I needed to make do with it until everything was all sorted out.“I like yo

ALEX'S POV.“You've been gone for a long time." Her cold voice called out to me as soon as I stepped inside the house. I switched on the light, and a chill ran down my spine while I gulped hard. She was there, seated in the darkness.“flora ?” I called out to her, wanting to be certain it wasn't her ghost or anything lingering around but herself. She had said nothing else to me but smiled brightly, biting against the apple she had, slicing through, a knife packed to the end of each. She tilted her head a bit before standing to her feet and approaching me. I staggered away! Her key is back against the door."Oh, please don't be such a kid now. I was hungry, that's all. I couldn't find you anymore at the party, so I figured you left. You know, to go to something that's better and more important than I was, which brings me down to the question, "Where have you been?” She finally inquired, and I could see the murderous glint in her eyes as she leaned closer to me, her eyes darting from si

"No, no,, not again.” Hayle ! uttered beneath her breath on the sudden realization that she forgot the file she had to work on tonight. Anger reeled into her seeing she had asked Vincent, the staff in charge, to watch for her, but both were half-hearted and forgot it. She left it sitting carelessly against the shelf where Stone could get access, just as easily. “Mommy?" he said to his mother while he climbed into the back seat. It was twenty-nine minutes past five, and Hayle knew she had better hurry, and the office would be locked in a matter of mere minutes.“Good evening. How was school today?” Hayle asked, hating on her mistake the most. She planned out the entire thing in her mind before leaving; it was a one-way thing. She decided to pick Andrew up from school sewing; she had a few hours to save for herself. She hoped that they had a little bit of chat before she got submerged in work once again, but she had been wrong. It was always one thing or another.“I'll have to drive

HAYLE’s POV.“Goodnight honey.” I greeted him and placed a light peck into his hair. I had been worried all day. After the accident, Dustin explained that all Andrew needed was a few days of rest and that it was already safe to go home; it was a little shock and a few tears that had been stitched up.Although some painkillers were administered to him, that had not changed the little part where I ought to have experienced a little bit of fear and panic as a parent. The only hope I had was that he would bring it all by himself.Although it had done Mr. a major favor by saying that he finally fell asleep without much trouble, hopefully he would not feel any pain till the day breaks, and although it was painful and healing, I just wanted it done as quickly as possible.Herald and all set in place, I stared long and hard at him. He had begun snoring, parting his lips, and ! tumbling gibberish. He looked lovely, like an angel he was, but only half of the time he was meddling in my affairs

It felt like much was done or could be done; all she needed was her mind set free. She slipped out of the room, slowly heading towards the balcony, but then remembered that she had previously passed out there and slept in the cold till the next day. Goosebumps. swarmed into her, she freed herself up to the conclusion that was not by any means the route for her.She stood in her tracks, her head tilted a bit while she pondered hard about what to do. None of Alex's words made any sense to Hayle; how could her womb vanish into thin air? Why was he looking so serious? Was that meant to be a prank for her? Womb don't just get off one's body."Is this the part where I laugh?” Hayle asked curiously, flashing her bright set of teeth towards Alex, who was taken aback by her attitude. Sure as hell, she had her way, but he had his as well, and he was way more determined than anything else to handle the situation as best as he could, but she was not going to help anyone at all.“I'm sorry,” she whispered under low tones and tried standing on her feet. The first thing she felt was a throbbing headache and an insane urge to retch.“This isn't funny anymore, Alex. What's going on?” She asked again, seemingly confused as her vision was a little blurry.“Here, I'll help.'' Alex added in as he made his way towards her swiftly, running his fingers across her eyes and slowly pushing up in place before helping her back in bed."Hayle, this is a jo

HayleHayle parted her slowly and glanced through her environment. Things seemed different for a moment, and the first thing that stuck with her was the vague emptiness that she felt, followed by quite a migraine that took place in her mind. What exactly was wrong? Why had she felt like something important was missing from her?.She glanced around, and the surroundings seemed familiar; it wasn't her room. But it looked oddly close. The first memory that shook her mind was collapsing by the balcony, cold and lonely, scared for her life, worried that no one would find her as people hardly entered or passed through there. She heard the creaking of a door, and the first thing she had done was close her eyes shut, firmly and tight, yet she found it really strange; she could not have picked up the footsteps approaching until she shut her eyes closed.“What's wrong with me?” She questioned herself yet said nothing. “I can tell you are awake; why bother pretending?” Alex asked as he leaned c

Hayle. The cold wind blew harshly against my skin. I circled up my toes and tilted my head a bit.It was odd; why did it look so familiar? Emerging from the room, the scent that filled my nostrils, I stretched my legs slowly and raised my head with a louder yawn.My eyes moved over to the balcony, and it made me really bothered. Why was I in a situation like this? It made me sick to my stomach as I realized I was no longer taken.“awake?” his voice covered around me, I tilted my head, In the direction the words came, as I shook slowly yet carefully, panic shocking at my sides,“Why am I here?” I asked, the words easing off my throat bitterly. I felt an uneasiness within me, and I pushed myself slowly towards the end of the bed.“Stop; you need to remain in bed; you aren't fully healed yet.” He complained even when I barely felt anything different within me.“some joke?” I asked, my gaze on his while he rolled his eyes in response.“What exactly is your deal? Hayle’s POV.A knock settled on my door, sending jolts down my spine as I glanced up. I dragged my feet in the direction it came from; it seemed more like what could be done by Sandra. I dragged my feet reluctantly towards the don't and pushed it open, but to my surprise, it was Ethan.“Good morning, still asleep?” he asked. I shook my head, a faint smile against my lips. I could not really tell him much. It was probably not the best thing expected of me, especially given the fact that I had spent all my night thinking about Alex.“No, you didn't wake me; I had been a little tired from the journey; sleep didn't come easily.” I responded to his questions, although he seemed a little tense and worried.“May I come in then?” he asked, and I nodded, pushing the door wider apart for him to walk in.“I'm sorry, my manners are a little terrible. What's wrong? You don't look so good.” I asked on the spot, fighting hard to have my senses all intact.“Do you like it here, Hayle? Do you like be

It reminded me of Alex, but I couldn't be sure.I felt a mix of emotions - confusion, and a bit of fear. Was it really him? I tried to sit up to get a better look, but it was hard. Every movement felt heavy and slow.I strained my eyes, hoping to see more clearly, eager to know if it was really him or just my imagination playing tricks on me when suddenly he drew closer and spoke up.“I really need to know why you chose to have yourself killed today,” Alex spoke, his words coming off more like an exclamation than a statement. He had intervened and disrupted Adams' plan to take me out while fighting me in the training field. I was so dumb to recognize that that had been his plan all along. How stupid of me. I cussed inwardly. I thought about what happened, and a heavy feeling settled in my chest. I r
