TWO CAN PLAY THE GAME

Freya's POV

Immediately he sets his foot in, I coil myself on the bed, like I am scared. 

"She might be a little delirious and unstable. I guess she hit her head hard on the surface." The doctor whispered to him. 

"Thank you, doctor." He patted the doctor and escorted him out. Immediately he's back inside, I coil myself more. 

"Hey, hey, I'm not going to hurt you, just calm down." He said, coming close. 

Immediately he placed his hands on the bed, I flinched, almost falling off the floor. 

"Careful." He said, pulling me towards the center of the bed. 

"Don't hurt me, please." I pleaded. 

"I'm not going to hurt you." He reassured me and I stared up at him. His eyes always seem to enchant me whenever I stare at it. 

"I don't believe you." I muttered, flinching again when he tried to touch me. 

"Have I done anything to make you think I would hurt you since you woke up?" He asked and I shook my head. 

"What made you think I would now?" He asked. 

"That other white man called you 'Alpha'" I whispered, shaking in fright. 

"Alphas are ruthless to their subjects. I'm just a nobody, your treatment towards me might be harsher. " I said, still shaking.

He held my shoulder, stilling me. 

"I guess your former Alpha did that, but am not him. I would never bully my subjects, especially someone as beautiful as you." He said, stroking my cheek.

I bring myself to stop shaking and I stare at him "really?" I whispered and he nodded. Immediately I jumped into his arms, hugging him. I smiled victoriously, now he would never ask me about Alpha Kneed and my past. From this day on, it's a fresh start.

"You never told me your name." I asked. 

"Ronald, Alpha Ronald Grew of the-"

"Blucy pack." I said before him and he nodded, smiling. 

"I see you've heard about it." He said and I nodded. 

"A lot, you should be a role model to the other Alphas " I praised, even though I was lying through my teeth. 

Alpha Ronald was famous alright, famous for being cunning. Everyone who encountered him in the past had stories to tell about his cruelty. 

Of all the packs I should have entered, it had to be this one.

"Very soon." He replied, smiling at me. I don't know, but immediately I knew who he was, his smile and everything seemed ugly to me. Except for his green eyes though, that part of him was still beautiful and kept calling me. 

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, I jumped in fear. 

"Calm down,it's just a knock, I'll go see who it is." He said and got off the bed. 

Ronald opened the door, had a few conversations with whoever it was and he was back. 

From his expression, he had some matters to attend to. 

"Are you alright?" I asked in concern. 

"Yeah, I just have pack matters to attend to." He said and I nodded, bowing my head in sadness. 

"Hey, I'll be back here immediately am done." Ronald reassured me and my face lit up in excitement. 

"Meanwhile, what do you want to have for dinner and I'll have the maids bring it up." He asked. 

"Whatever they prepare is fine by me." I shrugged and he nodded, leaving the room. 

Few minutes later, the maids walked in with a plate of food. There was something unusual about her, when she stared at me I could hear what she was thinking. 

"Did you say something?" I asked, my tone sharp and my previous pretense gone. 

"Nope, and if you heard something, it should be your demons whispering to you." She retorted and I chuckled, getting out of bed. 

"One piece of advice, be nice to me, if you don't want the wrath of your Alpha." 

"You think you can just come here and enchant him to like you, you're kidding. He's for one person alone." She spat in hatred. 

"Excuse me? When did I give the insinuation that I wanted him?" I asked. Hell no, someone as cunning as Ronald? Nah, I'll take my chances elsewhere. 

For all I know, he could be deceiving me, well I guess two can play the game. He's not what he pretends to be and so am I. 

"It's useless talking to you." She snorted and began to leave. 

I dragged her back "serve the food." I commanded and she glared at me in hatred. 

She ended up doing my bidding, because she would be stupid to get on her Alpha's bad side. 

After she served the food, she left in anger, slamming the door behind her. 

I got back in bed, rumpled my hair, and forced a few years out of my eyes. 

"What's the difference between you and lilian now? " A voice asked, and I turned around to look for who it was, then I realized it's Elsa, my wolf. 

"I'm doing this to survive, Lilian did what she did for selfish reasons. Big difference."

"In the end, both of you have one thing I'm coming. Still for the same selfish reasons." She said and I groaned. 

"You are deceiving the man, Laura."

"An Alpha like Ronald? Who's to know if he isn't deceiving me also. No one." I replied. 

"You don't have to play the same game with them, what happened to being different." Elsa asked. 

"What has being different gotten me? Lost my mate, had a face off with a witch, almost lost my life. Where were you, Elsa? " I snapped, getting angry by the minute. 

"I'll do anything, as long as I get to keep my life. If me wanting to live is being selfish, so be it." I said and cut off the link. 

Elsa and I have never really been close even though she's my wolf. No one knows I have a wolf, the main reason why I was bullied in Alpha Kneed's pack, they claimed I was weak. I intend to keep the facade on. Be selfish, if it means you get to keep your life.
