Jaselyn's POV 

Mari’s voice trailed off as she finished recounting the harrowing tale. I sat there, stunned, trying to process everything I had just heard. The thought of someone enduring such pain, especially someone who seemed as strong and composed as Larose, was unimaginable. And poor little Carol, carrying such a heavy burden of trauma at such a young age.

It's so easy to judge sometimes, especially when we know nothing about a person's life or their experience.

I never could have guessed that Larose had suffered abuse from her mate. The dude almost tried to kill her! Imagining something like that feels scary on so many levels but it's so sad that it's her reality.

It's no wonder she's seemed so cold and distant, it must be very hard for her to trust with all she's been through. I understand her protectiveness towards Carol perfectly. I hate that I couldn't protect Celio more, I wish for a do over more than anything……
