Raven
Hours pass, the drive to this new house and her new fiancé has blown too much of the money I had saved down the exhaust. My fingers tap against the wheel, first thing I need to do when I get there, is find a job. I can already tell I am close, with each new house I pass, they become bigger, more expensive, and honestly a waste of space. I feel more out of place and awkward as I see the houses grow before me.
She did her work on this guy, this is probably one of the richest if not the richest guy she has found and dated. I want to say maybe it will last, but it won’t. A shiver runs up my spine, the moving seems to help keep him at bay, no doubt when he finally finds me we have moved. I look at the house as the gates open for me to drive in. The house alone says this man has more money than anyone she dated.
Which means it won’t last. She will get greedy and no doubt he will cut her off. She does that, gets overjoyed and foolish with money, and it shows her true intent. Climbing from the car I grab my things, I watch the large double doors open, and prepare for my mother’s orders, but stop when a man steps out. He looks at me disappointed.
“I have the right place, right? I’m Raven, Heather’s daughter.” I wonder if she wrote it down wrong, or if the guy lied and doesn’t live here. It wouldn’t be the first time my mother tried milking a guy for everything and he was fake, with just as little as her.
“Raven, this is the right place.” He calls out as I walk up the marble steps towards him. I get closer and he shakes his head at my clothing. Okay, I’m wearing shorts and a T-shirt tied up. In this neighbourhood, I look like trash. Even if he offers me money, I won’t take it and be my mother, not that I could, the intentions of her men are forever tainted.
“I’m your dad.”
My eyes widen hearing him. “Erm...what the fucking crap shit is going on? I thought you were dead?” Clearly not, and he’s clearly rich. “So she’s coming back to you then?” After over eighteen years, she comes back to him?
“Your mother is not coming here Raven, I am living with another woman and her sons.”
I just stand and stare at him. I’m thrown, lost and confused as shit.
“Look, this is the house I live in with Emilia. Follow me.” I follow him past the doors he came out of and around the outside of the house. He stops at another set of large double doors. “The two houses are connected, the boys live on this side. They use this entry.” He walks in and I follow.
“Living room, kitchen, games room, pool, these three rooms are the boy’s room, this is yours.” He opens the door, and I look inside. It’s small. Not that I care, I will sleep and get changed here, and that is about it.
“Get settled in, the boys are away for the week. Stay out of the other side of the house Raven.” His words are stern, I search his face for any resemblance to mine, but there’s nothing.
“Fine with me, but why am I here?” Why didn’t mum just drag me with her again?
“Raven, your mother found me and told me you’re sleeping around, dancing on laps, whoring yourself out and even sleeping with one of her fiancé.” His disgusted look trails my body.
“Okay, one. I don’t dance on laps. I dance around people, no touching. Two, when I slept with the guy, I didn’t know who he was, and why am I to blame? He told me was single, then when mum’s friend came back from his work trip, I realised it was him.” It’s not my fault, he was at the club, I danced and he pulled me aside. He was single, or so he said.
“Raven, if you act like this and cause trouble with me and Emilia, you’re out on the street as I won’t do what your mum did and carry you from place to place. If I have to leave here, you’re on the streets.” His face grows red as his anger rises.
“It’s your house.” Why would he end up on the streets?
“Raven, I have been dating Emilia for three months. Don’t fuck things up for me.”
I laugh, he’s just like my mum.
“You’re with her for the cash, you and mum are the exact same, makes no wonder why you divorced so quickly. You’re both gold diggers.” His hand hits me, and my head throws sideways. I place my hand against my cheek in shock. I kind of deserved it.
“You can stop that, I mean it, Raven. What me and your mother do with our lives is our choice!”
“Just like my life is my choice. Don’t worry, I won’t tell Emilia you’re here for the money. As soon as I save enough, I’m gone then both you and mum are free of me.”
“By using guys?” He looks at me disgusted.
“Isn’t that what mom does, isn’t that what you’re doing with Emilia? At least the guys I get money from know that I’m there dancing for money, not love.” I walk into my room and slam the door shut. Hell, my dad isn’t dead! I was ready to face a new stepfather, but instead, she sent me to my real dad. She must really hate me. I can’t help but laugh.
Grabbing the laptop I begin looking for jobs, once again they are all dancing or club work. At least I know my dad’s partner won’t be one of the people watching me dance.
After applying for some jobs, I walk to the kitchen and cook. Sitting I eat, my phone beeping. Hitting answer I hold it to my ear.
“Hello?”
“Hello, is this Raven?”
“It is.” I don’t know why anyone would call me.
“Hello, cutie! Are you free in an hour, your application got through just in time. We are holding auditions for the new dancer at Skinsteel. Six women, one spot, are you up for it?”
“Yes! Thank you, I will make my way now.” I will, I need the job, petrol to get here wasn’t cheap and I had to use it out of the money I was saving to find my own place. Taking down the address I say goodbye and walk to the small bathroom. I get showered and shaved, before throwing on some clothes and leaving.
After the audition, I will find somewhere to sit and drink. Just like the last few places I lived in, I won’t make friends. They will only end in a month when things go downhill, which they always do. Arriving at the club, I walk in and see the other women standing on the stage.
“Raven?” A woman looks towards me and I nod.
“I’m Alexa, this is Ella and Sasha, I’m the manager. Join the other ladies on stage and let’s get the auditions started then decide who earned their place with the ladies here.”
I nod in response and jump up on the stage, hoping I get this job.
RavenAlexa stands in front of us. I stretch slightly and get ready. “Right ladies, the audition is split into three dances. The first one is burlesque, if you don’t have experience in it, don’t worry, just do what you know. If you can dance we can teach it. The second one is dancing using the pole, and the third is dancing together. I need to see how you do when your space is limited. During the final dance, you can leave the stage, dance around tables and such.”That is all fine, I’ve done burlesque and pole dancing, I’ve also danced with ladies before so I should be fine.“We want to see how you react to an audience, hence there are some guys here. If you struggle to audition with a few men watching, you won’t succeed when the place is full. Any question?” She looks at us waiting.“Yes, the first and last dance. Is the pole off-limits?” I need to know, if not, I can incorporate it.“No, if you are dancing and can fit the pole into your routine even for one move, use it. The dances
RavenI stop outside the large house. Great, rich people. The garden is flooded with people, and all the lights are on in the house. The music is loud as I drive in and park up. Walking through the garden I look around. While it’s a rich person’s house and party the guests are far from that. The guests help ease my worries, I know I won’t stand out here.I smile seeing three women wrestling in the mud pool, people lounging around the pool. Someone is even jumping off the roof into the pool. I can’t help but laugh as I walk through. I go unnoticed, just how I like it I see a couple in the corner clearly having sex. While the location and the host are rich, their expectations are clearly not. Stepping into the house I hear the roar of laughter from people and the chanting. I walk through the rooms, grabbing a drink from the box along the way. Most would hate this. Hate that there is no one here they know, but the fact is I don’t even think the host would know everyone here. I see the me
RavenThe sound of someone screaming my name seeps into my dreamless sleep state and awakens me. Stumbling from the bed, I walk out and see him standing there looking at me annoyed. I guess I am going to see him more than once in a blue moon, so I need a name.“I never got your name.” I don’t fancy calling him Dad, he isn’t.“Dave. Look, I need you to clean up through at the other house.” He holds out keys and I laugh. My eyes clash with his. Wait, he’s serious?“Raven, do as you’re told for once. The kitchen, bathroom and bedroom need cleaning. I need to go, behave and have it done and you out without an hour.” Turning he walks off. So I have a choice, I can not do it and get shit from him, or do it and give in? I have just got here, so I at least want to get settled before any major arguments.I walk through to the other house and begin to clean his mess. It’s clear from the contents of the rooms, that he had another woman here, which means this all ends soon again. I’m doing this p
I have been here for a week, and other than my dearest father I haven’t seen anyone. I’m seriously beginning to wonder if my dad lied. Where is his partner and her sons? Something doesn’t add up. I sit and watch Ava serving the drinks. I met Big Bear, he’s far from big. He’s small and thin. He’s nice though, like an old grandpa. It’s clear that he cares for Ava as well. In a way a father should.Dancing on my stool to the music, Ava begins to swing her hips slightly as she walks behind the bar. It’s new, somehow I am having an effect on her, she’s more relaxed and hell she’s dancing, even if it is just swaying her hips.Today it’s busy though, some of the punters are clearly bikers, and some aren’t. It’s clear the club doesn’t lock its doors to those outside the biker community, then again, customers are money, even those who don’t have bikes. I glance at the table close to us hearing a laugh. They are clearly on a stag night and are morons, but I promised Ava I would behave and keep
GraysonStopping the bike I climb off, and walk into the club. Ashton and Emmet follow me. I watch as Big Bear looks up at us, and waves us through. Walking around the bar we go into the office and sit.“All good. No major issues, and nothing to point out.” He states and hands us the sheets, I pass them to Ashton and he flicks through the numbers.“We might have a new barmaid for you, one who actually uses bikes.” I look at him and his head shakes. He won’t like it, but it needs to be done.“No, I get it is your place and shit, but no. We don’t need to replace the barmaid, she is fine.”I laugh at his words. “Fine? Last time we were in here she couldn’t handle the customers, a woman with more balls would be better.” I have seen this Ava a few times and the last time she struggled to control the guys. She needs more control, dominance, dare I say it fucking confidence“Well, it isn’t an issue anymore. I’m here more to help out, and her friend isn’t afraid to kick asses either.” I look
RavenLast night was a good night, in the sense I had no nightmares. I need to get some new clothes, as much as I hate spending money as it delays me moving out, I need new clothes. After stepping from the shower I grab my clothes. Putting on the bralet and thong I walk out of my bathroom to my bedroom. As I turn to put music on I scream, jumping back and throwing everything in my reach at the fucking spider.Hell if there is one thing I fear, it’s fucking spiders. They are my kryptonite, after the devil himself laughed in my face, I fear these fuckers more. The door slams open, and I turn expecting Dave but instead, it’s the Caddel brothers. My calm only lasts a second as I see the spider move out of the corner of my eye and I scream running behind them for protection, my arms gripped onto Grayson.“Erm, what the fuck?” He looks at me confused.“It’s a fucking spider! A big one.” I point towards it and hear one of them laugh, I watch who I believe is Emmett walk into the room and cap
EmmettWe watch Raven leave, and we walk through to our mother. She looks happy, stupidly fucking happy.“Mother.” Grayson walks in and sits at the table.“Grayson, look after her please.” Our mother looks at him and he stares shocked.“She’s not a child, she can babysit herself.” He looks at her annoyed.“That may be, however, something tells me there is more beneath the surface and she hides it well. There is only so long that booze and sex can hide those things though. I can see it in her eyes.”Those things? We all look at her confused and she smiles.“It isn’t my place, and to be fair I only know because her father left out some things about her. You boys be nice to her, I mean it.” Her words are stern. Shit, she does like Raven, I want to laugh, as in reality, Raven is someone who doesn’t belong near us.“Sure, for a month then they will be gone,” Grayson states and I groan, here we go again. Why can’t he keep it shut around our mother?“Don’t Grayson! Dave is a nice man.”“Nice
RavenI wait until I hear all three doors close then walk out and grab a bottle of vodka, going back to my room I drink until I pass out, hoping that it blocks the nightmares. It seems to, as when I wake the sun is up and my body hurts. So I slept for a while then.Stripping off my clothes I walk to the bathroom and shower. My mind on last night, the brothers now know my secrets, or at least know I have some. That needs to be the end of it, I can’t have anyone else finding out the truth.I made mistakes, I know I did, and I will forever carry around the guilt and darkness that those mistakes caused. The death will cling to my back and never release its grip. Getting dressed my mind is still replaying everything and I feel sick, I can almost see and smell the blood. I can’t drink yet, not enough to drown it out anyway. So, dancing will have to do. The music fills the room, ‘Foreplay’ by Shensea the soundtrack I opt to dance to.I learnt quickly, that dancing is great, but often the lyr
RavenI face Aileen, my fingers tapping on the arm of the chair."I assumed it would be the brothers coming." She doesn't falter but I can see the worry in her eyes."Things changed. Just because they do not like hurting women, and look at creative ways to ensure rules are followed does not mean they are weak and can be ignored." I stop for a moment. "Me however, I have no issues with hurting women, and considering you ignored them, and mocked their attempts to solve the issue I figured I would help."I don't like her. Not just because she uses the fact they won't hurt her as a way to get away with shit, but she in general isn't a nice woman."So you plan to hurt me and get me to agree?" She laughs and sits back."I plan to see if you will listen, then go from there. They have tried Aileen, but your attitude has become worse. This is the fourth month of no payment."She sits quietly and I watch her, not moving. I know she expected me to come in with people, but I didn't. If I did she
RavenI wake up hearing a bang and shouting. My eyes adjust to the darkness."All of them! Every fucking one is dead tonight." I stand hearing Grayson. Walking out, I see him going through his cupboard and grabbing guns."Grayson?""Go to bed Doll."My head shakes, why is he covered in blood?"I will burn it down with them in, I swear." He has the phone to his ear. Something happened."Go to bed." He shouts looking at me, and I glance around, looking towards the living room I see Emmett pacing. His eyes meet mine and I walk to him, his hands stopping me."What happened?""Nothing to concern yourself with tonight, go to bed." He kisses my cheek."No!" I glance down seeing the blood. "Emmett!""Now! If you get in my way, you’re starting the war." I turn hearing Grayson shout and walk out of his room, Emmett chasing after him."Grayson, think.""Fuck thinking, stay with him, Emmett." I watch him walk out and Emmett chasing him while telling him to stop. Turning I walk into the living and
RavenI can't believe I am eight months pregnant. For a while, I worked at the club, and it felt amazing. Slowly, I noticed Grayson talking to some of the guys there. He did what I did, ran and hid, so me opening the club and hiring those dancers that Ruth used meant Grayson couldn't hide anymore. I sat and watched him talk to them, something he admitted he didn't do after he left. Many are grateful for the escape from Ruth. Over the months working I learnt a lot from the men. Ruth didn't just use them and lure them in as children. She continued it in their adulthood as well. They had told her their deepest darkest secrets and she held it over them. So it was nice to see them finally free of that, I expected most to refuse the job, but many of them do enjoy it and are grateful to have a safe place to dance. It's been crazy, Grayson struggled to give me space, more through fear, but the city has learnt women are not weaknesses. Hawk and Doc I guess helped there, everyone knows that it
RavenI fall back onto Ashton hearing him laugh.“Don’t be a dick.” My words are quiet.“I can give you one if you wish?” Groaning my head shakes. “We warned you, Grayson hates being woken up.” He laughs and sits up carrying me to shower he holds me against him.“You’re all mean.” He laughs and looks at me.“Why Cutie pie? If I agree, I will make it up to you.” He looks at me waiting.“Well, I didn’t do anything wrong.” He looks at me amused. “Okay, I wanted to taunt and play and none of you saved me from the other.”“Why would I save you from them when you taunted me as well?” He looks at me amused.“Fine, Grayson cheated, I knew he had limited time and couldn’t go to the room. I never expected that though.” My head rests against him.“Don’t you like squirting?” I nod my head and he laughs. “Then why are you complaining as of yet there hasn’t been a complaint Cutie Pie.”“I feel like I lost, I don’t know what, but I feel like I lost.” He nods and pulls me closer.“You won, we fucked
RavenWaking, I am still in Ashton’s arms, my eyes notice the box next to the bed and I smile.“Morning Cutie pie.” His hand grips my ass.“Happy birthday.” He freezes. “You failed at hiding it, they told me.” I smile at him.“Wasn’t trying to hide it.” I laugh at his words. Moving, I roll over so I’m straddling him. “Although, I’m already loving this birthday.” His eyes go to my chest, and he grips my hips. Leaning over I pick up the box and feel his teeth biting my nipple.“Stop!” Laughing I pull back.“Well don’t shove them in my face then!” He laughs.“I’m getting something, tell your mouth to behave.” Leaning over I grab the box his hands grasping my breasts.“You said nothing about hands behaving.”Laughing I nod and kiss him. His hands slide across my back before grabbing my ass.“You’re an ass kind of guy, right?” He seems obsessed with it. He nods laughing. “Well, happy birthday.” I hold out the box and he looks at it suspiciously.“I’m weird, and don’t do normal. So I though
RavenI watch Grayson walk away, Emmett kisses me and leaves. I stand and look at Ashton, I can see it, that look is back. I didn't even think, I should have thought. Walking to him I wrap my arms around his neck. "I'm sorry.""It's fine, cutie pie. Did you eat at all today?" He looks at me and I shake my head."Just breakfast." He pulls me into the kitchen and together we cook. I feel awful, I didn't even think. I just wanted to do it alone, and I knew Grayson wouldn't let me. Not that I can blame him, with how crazy I have been lately. After eating I pull Ashton to my room.Stripping, I walk to the bed and he stops me."Shower, you smell of smoke." Kissing me he turns me to the bathroom."Join me?" He stands debating it. "I've been alone all day Ashton." I watch him stand and walk to me, before pulling me into the shower. My head rests against his chest as the water flows over us."I won't ever leave Ashton." I peer up at him. "I promise, I will never leave you." His arms tighten ar
GraysonI disagreed with her going alone. This isn't like she is going to see Ava, it's her mother's funeral. Yet the tone of Ashton's voice reminded me that I asked them to warn me.So I took it and left, even if I didn't think it was right for her to go alone. Part of me wants to leave and go there, but the thought of our mother beating me stops me. I know she is right, I ignored her warnings and made things worse. I honestly thought unpacking would be a good thing. Clearly, I was wrong."Hey." Turning I look at Emmett. "Big bear is here." I forgot about that."Deal with Emmett.""No, we deal with it. Don't go back to the person who gives orders Grayson or I will walk out and ignore everything you say." He stands looking annoyed."Fine." Standing I walk out, stopping I sit down and look at him."You said you wanted me to bring things here Grayson." He looks at me worried."It's fine, just not a good day that's all. Hand it here." I watch as he holds out the papers, glancing through
RavenI wake alone, but don't get out of bed. Staying laid down I consider everything. I don't know what was wrong with me yesterday. I want to put it down to being pregnant, but I know that's wrong. I shouldn't have felt alone but I did, despite them being right there."Good morning beautiful." I smile hearing Emmett and watch as he climbs on the bed, kissing me he places the tray down. His mouth presses a gentle kiss on my stomach. "Morning little one." I stare at him and laugh."Food, talk, then you get ready for today." He grins and sits back and I watch Grayson and Ashton walk in and sit down."Fine with me.""Okay, first you have the doctor today. Just to check on you." Grayson states and I nod."That's good as I need the implant removing." He nods and glances around."Raven, today is your mothers funeral." Ashton looks at me. "It is your choice what you do, it's at eleven," Ashton explains."We will be with you regardless Raven. If you want to go we will be there for you." Gray
AshtonI hear the door open. Sitting we don't talk, I want to go check on her though, which defies the whole point of her having space."Grayson Blake Caddel!" I smirk hearing our mum."It wasn't me!" He jumps up and I laugh."What did I say less than twenty-four hours ago?" She stands looking at him. Hell, she is more pissed off with him than she was me.He stands trying to look confused and shrugs his shoulders."I'm not blind, you know, so come on what did I say?""You told me not to force her to unpack the case." His words are quiet. Wait, I look at him, I thought Mum knew. He said she agreed."Grayson!" I stand up shocked."I thought it would fucking help! I'm sorry, I thought her unpacking would make her accept this is her home and relax.""You messaged and said Mum agreed it would help!""No, I told him it would be worse. That was her final safety net. Why ask for advice Grayson if you do the damn opposite?" She looks at him annoyed.I'm just glad it isn't me today. It's rare
