“You?” I asked in shock.

I pulled back even more. “I mean, Alpha Eros, how are you here?” I asked instead, mentally hitting my head for the mess that I had indirectly stepped in. It was not fair that any of these was happening, but it was what it was.

He easily leaned closer to me, and I blinked in shock. “You slept off on duty,” he said softly.

I wrung my hands together, trying my best not to give away the anxiety that I felt deep inside my soul. “I didn’t mean to,” I said quietly.

He touched my thigh lightly. “Then, how do you mean to?” I asked slowly.
