“Help! Help!’’ I screamed to remind them of my imminent condition.
The one in the middle among the three men ran towards me with a super human strength. He unbundled me within seconds much to the dismay of the mob and their leader. How he managed to untie in a short limited amount of time remains baffling. He carried me in his strong arms away from the flame.“Don’t be scared. You will be fine. This is my home and nobody dares to mess around with me here,’’ he told me.
Only then did I saw his huge biceps and his sexy- hairy chest. So tempting to touch.“His head is mine!’’ Shouted the mob’s leader. “How dare you intrude in my business? I will teach a lesson that you will never forget! Get his head!’’
At once the mob charged with rage towards our direction at the command of their leader to kills us.“You are making a mistake you will regret.’’ He quickly dodged successfully, the first set of persons that advanced to attack, whilst carrying me in his arms.
As I watched the other two men transformed into two giant wolf-like creatures and stepped in to fight. It dawned at me, they could be werewolves. They engaged the angry mob in a fierce battle. They men from the mob where flung up or thrown out as if they were weightless and useless. While the fight raged on, the one who saved me began walking out of the premise with my body on his shoulders.
“Wait a minute! What about your friends? Are we leaving them to their own death?’’ I asked.
“Hahahaha! Those two can take of them all so, worry not my lady.”
Indeed, it was no surprise he gave such an answer. I could see how they handled the attackers like ants. I could hear the men they fought scream in pains. Slowly, we walked out of the scene. However, the tumult in the background could still be heard.
When I became sure that I was safe enough, did I remembered to ask him who he is?“Thank you so much for saving my poor life. You said earlier on, the forest of Dengek is your home and nobody dares to mess with you here. May I please know who you are?”
“I guess you don’t need to ask that question because, you already know who I am ’’he stares hard at me this time with unkind eyes. “You know who I am, don’t you? Just say the name witch!”
He dropped me so hard on my feet to the floor. “Now you can walk on your legs.’’At once, I became troubled at his sudden rude behavior. Just few minutes ago I thought I was in a very safe arms but no, it wasn’t. Instead, I had fallen into yet another predicament. My mind was messed up at that moment, as I tried to come up with a possible reason why he had intervened with his accomplices to save me.
“Walk!’’ He commanded. His eyes brightened with a flash of yellow light. He dragged my arms in a bid to make me walk faster. He seemed to be in a hurry but, why?I mellows my voice, “who are you please?’’
“You know who I am. Just say it out!” He affirmed.
“You are an alpha wolf,’’ I told him.
“Stop! Say no more witch. You are coming with me.”“Why? Why should I come with you? What have I done to you? Did you save me so you could kill me by your own hands or do you intend to make me your prisoner?’’ My sobs and tears made it through. He watched me cry helplessly.
“If you think your tears will make me change my mind then, you are mistaken witch. I saved you for one purpose. And you fulfil that which I seek.”
“And what do you seek wolf?” I asked, having known my new value to him. My fears also lessened. But then, I thought, ‘what if, what he seeks is not something I’m able to fulfil? No! I must agree to anything he says so I could buy enough time to escape.’
“Something which I have long yearned for. Something I have craved to lay my hands on so I could make a difference and take back that which rightly belongs to me,’’ he let go of my arm but, not without pushing me forward for one last time as if I am his slave.
“Ouch!” I exclaimed in pains. “You can’t keep treating me like your slave if you want me to help you with whatever you are seeking for and by the way, why are you not being explicit in your explanation? I still don’t understand what you are talking about and certainly doesn’t know how to help you?’’
“The journey is still far.”
“What does that mean?”
“It means, this is not the right place to discuss,’’ he remained silent for a while before resuming again. “You need a detailed plan of what I want you to do for me.”
“If I may ask wolf, where in the hell are you taking me to? You are making me to feel like I’m your hostage.”
“I can sense fear in every word you say witch. Well, I’m taking you to a place where you will not be burned on stake at least; instead, other death options will be available for you. Now, how about that? Am I not being kind enough to you? Huh?” He smiled.
I remained silent without saying a word back to him. I was still scared of my life and wouldn’t like to do anything to piss him off. Whatever mockery he makes to me tonight does not matter. If not for him I would have been burned to ashes by now. Therefore, somehow I felt grateful but, remained nervous about his plans. A plan I’m yet to find out.“Who were those men and why did they prefer to burn your body on a stake when they could have sent you straight to hell with one cut or slice on your throat?’’
I cursed myself for I was powerless and couldn’t do anything other than to absorbed his unkind words and still give him the reply he wanted.
“They call themselves the Revolutionists.”“And what about them huh?’’“Like their name suggested, they declared war on witches and sorcerers after accusing them of several murders. The tall one I believe is Brady. He leads the movement sought to wipe off my kind. According to what I was told by Gia before her death at their hands, Brady allegedly lost his parents at a very young age to a witch. Now he has come back for revenge. That explains why he is so brutal to any one accused of being a witch.”
“That sounds pathetic! So you are actually paying for your crimes huh? I could have turned you in then. But, don’t worry I have a better plan for you,’’ the alpha wolf grinned to remind me how miserable my condition was before, he rescued me.
We walked until we were almost out from the forest perimeter when unexpectedly, we bumped into two dark figures standing in our way just about five meters apart. Because I was leading the way but, on his direction, I saw the dark figures first. The moonlight is our only source of illumination therefore, I could barely tell what or who they were. I stopped at once in frightened.
“Look at those figures!’’ I pointed one of my fingers at them. “What are they?”
“Are you scared witch? If I could save you from the mob who sought to have you killed, why should you be scared of just two men? Do you think I can’t handle them?’’
I quickly answered to his tune to avoid incurring the wrath of the alpha who had saved me in an exchange for something. “No sir! I know you can handle them perfectly,’’
“If you believe I can then, continue moving forward!’’
“Yes sir!’’ I began moving forward again. I looked backward few seconds later to see if the alpha is walking behind me but, reverse was the case. He hasn’t moved an inch away from where he stood previously.
“Keep going and never look back again!” He barked at me like a dog.”
I didn’t concur verbally to his order nevertheless, I walked on like a zombie irrespective of the possible danger in my front. ‘Why is he doing this? Not long ago, he saved me from the salvages and now he is letting me walk into harm’s way, all for what? Could this be the better plan he had for me?’ I asked myself, while getting closer to the danger that lays ahead.“Stop right there!” One of the tall, dark figures commanded.I stood like a frozen fish, unable to decide for myself. Should I obey him or the alpha wolf that had I instructed me to move forward?“What took you so long Eric and Drek?’’ The alpha asked. “Doing our job of course!’’ the one I suspected to be Eric answered.“Oh I see Eric. Did you finish what you started?’’“Yes we did,’’ Drek steps in.“And their leader?’’Eric begins to walk even closer to me, “he swore never to cross our path again. He ran like a coward.”“I guess that means you spared his life?’’ said the alpha.Drek like Eric, begins to come closer to me. “What’s the need of killing the coward when we got what we sought? We killed many of them before he surrendered and I’m sure it’s going to be a long time before we meet again.’’“We got the witch that’s what matters. Now, you can claim what is rightfully yours,’’ Eric added.I wondered what I have got to do with all they were saying. Could it be they are echoing w
“You mean, Deborah could have mistaken you for another person?’’ Asked Ammon as he walks closer to me. He seized my hand and grabbed my hair just like Drek had done earlier. “Listen bitch, Deborah can never lie and will never deceive us. Your name is Louis. The daughter of Mahandra the great mistress of the witches. Margarita is your only mother’s extant sister. She betrayed your mother and let the vampires kill her in one of their bloody clashes, years ago.” He spread one of his palms across my face, totally insensitive to the torment he is putting me through.I responded only when he eased his grip on me, “Margarita also told you that? How can I believe all you have said?’’“Yes witch, she did. That was how we found you. It’s either you do as we say and come with us to prepare the ritual that will break the spell or you perish right here in the middle of the forest. The choice is yours, Louis.”We arrived at a small cottage deep in the forest and far from any human contact. I was he
The wolves were caught unaware by my demand that they should leave me and the Alpha alone in the house if, the spell-breaking ritual must work. They both looked at each other except Ammon whom I guess, was keen to see me do my job rather than showing any interest in the demand I had made."Now tell me one thing why we should leave witch?" Derek began walking closer to me. His eyes were filled with rage as he inches closer. Only he knew what he had in mind at that moment. He held me by the neck, "tell me why we should leave?"For the first time, Eric appears to come to my aid. "“Easy on her! Slow down brother," he told Derek. “Let's us get the clear message she is trying to deliver," now turning to me, he continued, "Are you saying we are unworthy to witness the ritual procession, is that what you mean by ‘we should step outside?”“The words never came out from my mouth but yours. The sooner you adhere to the instruction the quicker we go with the spell-breaking ritual.”I could tell
“Oh no! Look at what you have done now! How could you, after all the warning I gave to you?”I knew what was coming at once and I quickly acted like I was the victim to reduce any possibility of him laying his hands on me with his rage.Like magic, it seems like my trick on him worked. He refrained from raising his voice at me or doing something stupid. "I'm sorry about that Louis. Believe me, I had opened my eyes to remind you about one of the essential parts of the ritual which was missing,” said the Alpha.“There is no point in apologizing because you have ruined the ritual.” we broke the body contact we had through our hands. I watched his face change from moderate to complete sadness. “I only opened my eyes to remind you that no blood was spilled. Practically speaking your blood. It is needed for the ritual according to what Deborah had told us.“That doesn't change anything right now! You ruined it," I insisted.“If this curse of mine can't be broken tonight, then you will not
Quickly, I closed my eyes, folded my palms, and began to cast a spell. No one can hear the words I said, only my lips moved. I cared less to listen to what the wolves were saying at that critical point in time of my life.“Thy hand who strike thee, hand fall short. Fall uncontrolled, ground shall stuck! Breath paused, air blend to water, so mote it be.” I opened my eyes immediately and behold, Derek's right hand was already raised and was set to strike me. Exactly the same time, the empty bottle of the whiskey he had drank earlier shattered into pieces with a bristling sound. His coat was pulled off him and flown across the floor, but he was unharmed in any way. Nevertheless, he carried on with his plan to stab me before the alpha finally intervened.“Stop Derek! There is nothing more to prove, she passed the test. Are you now convinced she is the one?”At once, Derek heeded the Alpha's command and stopped, with frustrations showing on his face. I knew it would have pleased him to ki
They were boldly written on the front book, Magic-Of-The-Ancient. Now, what the hell on earth is a magic book doing in the alpha’s room? He is not a wizard and it doesn’t appear he wants to be one either. I have read so many magic books during my stay with lady Gia nevertheless, I was convinced the book I had seen arranged on the shelf may have a cutting edge over the other books I have read. The more I stared at it was the more the temptation, to hold it in my hands and read every page growing stronger. ‘Should I grab it at once and read it to satisfy my curiosity or should I just ignore it and keep thinking about my miserable life? What about the alpha? How will he react if he suddenly burst into the room unannounced only to find me going through his book?’ I don’t have the right answers to these questions but one thing is for sure, the alpha will never touch a strand of my hair as long as I’m important to him. Especially now that I have offered him a promising solution to his probl
We gazed at each other for some quick seconds with his eyes, dominating mine. “What do you think you are doing witch? I gave you a room to lay your head and now you are invading my personal property? Is that what you do?’’ He began walking closer to the shelf where I had arranged his book. He took it and held it in his palms. Once again, we stood facing each other. That long wicked looks never stopped intimidating me.“m sorry sir. I never mean to do anything that will upset you. I will never go close that again.’’ I lifted my face a bit to meet his but quickly looked down again. The alpha has not acted in the way I had expected him to respond.“Tell me, witch,’’ he began, “have you read any book like this before?’’“No, I have not.’’“Hmmm! That means, it must be strange to you?’’“Yes, but it was interesting.’’He raised his eyebrows, “did you find any piece of written paper in my book?’’‘Should I lie to him and pretend I saw nothing?’ I asked myself. ‘No, that will make the alpha
The alpha gave me a nasty reply but, I was determined. When he saw that I had planned not to go back to my words he nodded in disbelief."You asking me to have an access to our kitchen Tonight and cook dinner for us? Is that what you are saying, Witch? Oh! I knew it. You have a plan to have us poisoned so you could escape. Am I right? Is that not what you are planning to do?"His words came as a surprise to me since I never had any of those things in my mind. "No, that's not correct. How can I bear such in my mind?""It's very possible! look, Witch, we have made you stay with us without your will. We had threatened to have you killed if you don't meet our needs. The option of having you killed has not been taken off the table don forget that? We are your enemies and not your friends. Now tell me why you will poison us if you are allowed to do so?"Alpha Ammon had a strong point on me. I was held by them against my own will. I see why it's not sensible enough not to trust me with the fo
