“What took you so long Eric and Drek?’’ The alpha asked.
“Doing our job of course!’’ the one I suspected to be Eric answered.
“Oh I see Eric. Did you finish what you started?’’
“Yes we did,’’ Drek steps in.
“And their leader?’’
Eric begins to walk even closer to me, “he swore never to cross our path again. He ran like a coward.”
“I guess that means you spared his life?’’ said the alpha.
Drek like Eric, begins to come closer to me. “What’s the need of killing the coward when we got what we sought? We killed many of them before he surrendered and I’m sure it’s going to be a long time before we meet again.’’
“We got the witch that’s what matters. Now, you can claim what is rightfully yours,’’ Eric added.
I wondered what I have got to do with all they were saying. Could it be they are echoing what the alpha had slightly told me before?
Drek pulled my hair mercilessly with his right hand. I had to scream in pains not minding the fact that, he would not listen. He placed his other hand on my neck as if he is about to choke me to death. Just his intentions at that moment, I don’t know. Rather than intervening, the alpha wolf and Eric were amused by my woes.
“You are pulling my hair and its hurting!’’ I complained but, that was met with an inconsiderate answer.
“I know it’s hurting you so badly and which is why I’m pulling them witch!” He drew me closer to himself, “what’s your name witch?’’ His harsh voice echoed through the dark.
Unsure of what to answer while held in captivity, I retorted. “How am I going to answer that when you are choking me to death?’’
“What did you say witch? Was that a challenge? Did you just dared me?’’ Drek pulled my hairs even harder. His other hand on my neck chocked me harder too, that I began to cough and gasped for air.
“Enough!’’ The alpha finally intervened. “If you choke her to death then, how are we going to achieve our goals brother? Remember we got her on our side for a purpose and we should not deviate from that? Now, let her go.”
Drek shoved me to the ground, “how are we sure Ammon that, we have got the right person? This witch looks helpless. She couldn’t even save herself from the mob who was about to set on fire on a stake. How the hell on earth will she be able to carry out the more sophisticated task we have for her? She doesn’t just look like she can.’’
Approaching me Eric added, “She couldn’t resist them. I think Drek is right, how sure are we about this witch Ammon? She doesn’t even look like a witch. She looks more like a mere human girl.’’
At last I discovered the name of the alpha. The name ‘Ammon’ sounds familiar to me but, I will have to wait and find out what this is all about.
Meanwhile, alpha Ammon stretched out his hands, after walking up to me and pulled me back to my feet. “Stand to your feet at once!’’ He commanded before turning to his brother wolves. “What do you mean? That she is not the one?”
Drek looked up at him, “we are just making sure we did not have the wrong person with us.”
“Come one, she is the daughter of the great witch we were told of. Only her can help us. I believe we have the right person with us.”
“Why don’t she perform some magic tricks just to prove us wrong if, you are convinced she is the one?’’ Demanded Eric as he kicked me slightly on my butt.
“That won’t be necessarily,’’ answered Ammon.
“What have I got to do with whatever you are talking about?’’ I asked in confusion.
“Oh witch! You weren’t told?’’ Queried Drek.
Trying to sound angry and frustrated, I retorted, “Told what?”
As I watched, Drek grabbed my hair again with full force. He turned me around with his great strength in an attempt to punish me. “Listen witch,’’ Drek begun, “Ammon is the alpha of our wolf clan but, he was ousted by Milan and his collision of witches which included your own Margarita. I’m sure you know her don’t you witch?’’ He spits on my face and gives me three rounds of slaps.I cried in pains, “What have I got to do with Margarita?’’
The alpha stepped in, “because, you have something in common that we seek from you and you must give it to us.”
I reached for Drek’s tormenting hands and tried to remove them from my hair and neck but, all to no avail did I succeeded. “And after you gets what you want, what will become of me?’’
“Leave that to us. It’s ours to decide your fate.” Drek let go of my hair and pushed me again but, I regained my balance before I could fall down.
Alpha Ammon continued without minding my sufferings at the hands of his brother wolf. “Margarita used his magic power to alter my wolf-inherent powers.’’
I quickly interrupts him. “What do you mean by your wolf-inherent powers?’’
“It means he can’t do normal things like most wolves does. He couldn’t summon all his powers at his will because, they were no more with him, all thanks to the spell casted by margarita. Ammon appeared weak since he couldn’t defend his identity again as an alpha wolf. Milan lead a rebel group that saw him banished from our wolf clan. We went with him into exile. We travelled far near in search of a powerful witch who could break the spell so Ammon could return back to fight Milan and take his rightful place,’’ explained Eric.
I listened to him attentively the whole time he spoke. Although I’m still scared of what they might actually do to me nevertheless, I summoned my courage and continued with my questions.“So now, what’s my part in this long tale of yours? What has it got to do with me because, I still don’t understand the point you are trying to make here?’’
Eric looked at alpha Ammon perhaps, for confirmation of the next lines he will be saying. Ammon nodded in concurrence before Eric resumed. “After our long and many adventures, we finally found a possible solution to our problem. This has a lot to do with you.’’
“How?’’ I asked. I gets more confused with every explanation he makes. They have so far failed to quench my curiosity.
Ignoring me, Eric resumes with his narration. “We came to the southern part of the great city of Dotam. There we met a powerful sorcerer named Deborah. With her powerful powers she was still unable to break the spell, just like other witches and sorcerers we have approached in the past. Much to our disappointment.’’
“We were told she was among the most powerful sorcerers who ever lived, similar to what we have heard about you, witch!’’ Entered Drek.
The alpha wolf never said a word the whole time we talked. Ammon simply let his brother wolves to talk with me but, chose not to get involve for a reason best known to him.
“What made you disappointed after meeting with Deborah? I’m sure if she couldn’t do it then, I stand no chance to help your cause I’m a-nobody. I’m not even a powerful witch among my own kind so, why me wolves?’’“That’s not the end of the tale, witch. She said something that could help us to find the solution to our problem. It’s you witch!’’ Eric said aloud.
“I barely know about this sorcerer you are all talking about. So tell me, how the hell on earth did she knew I was the only one in the right position to help you? Like I have told you before, I’m no good at controlling my powers as a witch. I’m still an amateur. Please do me a favor and let me go. There is no way I can help you. I mean, your wolf brother (pointing at Drek) already believed I can’t perform whatever task you are planning to involve me in. His words; if I couldn’t save myself from the mob who sought to kill me then, how are my going to solve your problems? He was actually right when he said that. My powers suck! I’m not just good at them. I’m really sorry about what all of you have been through to help your alpha brother nevertheless, there is nothing I can do. I’m the wrong person.’’
Ammon suddenly breaks into laughter at my pathetic pleas. “Not so fast witch. You are not in any negotiating to position to decide what we will do with you.”
“But I can’t help you?’’ I reiterated
“Oh yes you can!” Entered Drek. “According to Deborah, only a witch which shares the same blood with margarita can break the spell. You are that one person who can remove the curse with a little spill of your blood when breaking the spell. And one more thing witch, consider this a great favor we are doing for you. You could have died if not for our quick intervention. Also don’t forget, we can also finish what they had started earlier on. My advice is a simple one, do as we say and maybe, we will consider sparing your pathetic life.”
Annoyed, I replied him. “I don’t understand what you are talking about. How accurate are her divinations that, I shared a common blood with margarita? What if you have mistaken someone else for me?’’
“You mean to say, Deborah could had mistaken you for another person?’’ Asked Ammon as he walks closer to me. He seized my hand and grabbed my hair just like Drek had done earlier. “Listen bitch, Deborah can never lie and will never deceive us. Your name is Louis. The daughter of Mahandra the great mistress of the witches. Margarita is your only mother’s extant sister. She betrayed your mother and let the vampires kill her in one their bloody clashes, years ago.” He spread one of his palms across my face, totally insensitive to the torment he is putting me through.
I responded only when he eased his grip on me, “Margarita also told you that? How can I believe all you have said?’’
“Yes witch, she did. That was how we found you. It’s either you do as we say and come with us to prepare the ritual that will break the spell or you perish right here in the middle of the forest. The choice is yours Louis.”

The wolves were caught unaware by my demand that they should leave me and the Alpha alone in the house if, the spell-breaking ritual must work. They both looked at each other except Ammon whom I guess, was keen to see me do my job rather than showing any interest in the demand I had made."Now tell me one thing why we should leave witch?" Derek began walking closer to me. His eyes were filled with rage as he inches closer. Only he knew what he had in mind at that moment. He held me by the neck, "tell me why we should leave?"For the first time, Eric appears to come to my aid. "“Easy on her! Slow down brother," he told Derek. “Let's us get the clear message she is trying to deliver," now turning to me, he continued, "Are you saying we are unworthy to witness the ritual procession, is that what you mean by ‘we should step outside?”“The words never came out from my mouth but yours. The sooner you adhere to the instruction the quicker we go with the spell-breaking ritual.”I could tell
“Oh no! Look at what you have done now! How could you, after all the warning I gave to you?”I knew what was coming at once and I quickly acted like I was the victim to reduce any possibility of him laying his hands on me with his rage.Like magic, it seems like my trick on him worked. He refrained from raising his voice at me or doing something stupid. "I'm sorry about that Louis. Believe me, I had opened my eyes to remind you about one of the essential parts of the ritual which was missing,” said the Alpha.“There is no point in apologizing because you have ruined the ritual.” we broke the body contact we had through our hands. I watched his face change from moderate to complete sadness. “I only opened my eyes to remind you that no blood was spilled. Practically speaking your blood. It is needed for the ritual according to what Deborah had told us.“That doesn't change anything right now! You ruined it," I insisted.“If this curse of mine can't be broken tonight, then you will not
Quickly, I closed my eyes, folded my palms, and began to cast a spell. No one can hear the words I said, only my lips moved. I cared less to listen to what the wolves were saying at that critical point in time of my life.“Thy hand who strike thee, hand fall short. Fall uncontrolled, ground shall stuck! Breath paused, air blend to water, so mote it be.” I opened my eyes immediately and behold, Derek's right hand was already raised and was set to strike me. Exactly the same time, the empty bottle of the whiskey he had drank earlier shattered into pieces with a bristling sound. His coat was pulled off him and flown across the floor, but he was unharmed in any way. Nevertheless, he carried on with his plan to stab me before the alpha finally intervened.“Stop Derek! There is nothing more to prove, she passed the test. Are you now convinced she is the one?”At once, Derek heeded the Alpha's command and stopped, with frustrations showing on his face. I knew it would have pleased him to ki
They were boldly written on the front book, Magic-Of-The-Ancient. Now, what the hell on earth is a magic book doing in the alpha’s room? He is not a wizard and it doesn’t appear he wants to be one either. I have read so many magic books during my stay with lady Gia nevertheless, I was convinced the book I had seen arranged on the shelf may have a cutting edge over the other books I have read. The more I stared at it was the more the temptation, to hold it in my hands and read every page growing stronger. ‘Should I grab it at once and read it to satisfy my curiosity or should I just ignore it and keep thinking about my miserable life? What about the alpha? How will he react if he suddenly burst into the room unannounced only to find me going through his book?’ I don’t have the right answers to these questions but one thing is for sure, the alpha will never touch a strand of my hair as long as I’m important to him. Especially now that I have offered him a promising solution to his probl
We gazed at each other for some quick seconds with his eyes, dominating mine. “What do you think you are doing witch? I gave you a room to lay your head and now you are invading my personal property? Is that what you do?’’ He began walking closer to the shelf where I had arranged his book. He took it and held it in his palms. Once again, we stood facing each other. That long wicked looks never stopped intimidating me.“m sorry sir. I never mean to do anything that will upset you. I will never go close that again.’’ I lifted my face a bit to meet his but quickly looked down again. The alpha has not acted in the way I had expected him to respond.“Tell me, witch,’’ he began, “have you read any book like this before?’’“No, I have not.’’“Hmmm! That means, it must be strange to you?’’“Yes, but it was interesting.’’He raised his eyebrows, “did you find any piece of written paper in my book?’’‘Should I lie to him and pretend I saw nothing?’ I asked myself. ‘No, that will make the alpha
The alpha gave me a nasty reply but, I was determined. When he saw that I had planned not to go back to my words he nodded in disbelief."You asking me to have an access to our kitchen Tonight and cook dinner for us? Is that what you are saying, Witch? Oh! I knew it. You have a plan to have us poisoned so you could escape. Am I right? Is that not what you are planning to do?"His words came as a surprise to me since I never had any of those things in my mind. "No, that's not correct. How can I bear such in my mind?""It's very possible! look, Witch, we have made you stay with us without your will. We had threatened to have you killed if you don't meet our needs. The option of having you killed has not been taken off the table don forget that? We are your enemies and not your friends. Now tell me why you will poison us if you are allowed to do so?"Alpha Ammon had a strong point on me. I was held by them against my own will. I see why it's not sensible enough not to trust me with the fo
'This is my freedom at last,' I thought. My heart was delighted shortly until I remember I knew no direction to take. The forest of Dengek covered a huge swath of land that I can't measure or determine which part of it is closer to human settlement. Therefore, fleeing at this slight opportunity will be a suicide mission. What I end up being eaten by a wild beast of the night? What if I fell into the hands of very bad people. What if I end up again in the hands-on "Revolutionists" while attempting to flee from many friendly werewolves than they were? That will be catastrophic if I'm ever caught by the zealots again. This time around, they will leave no stone unturned. They may decide to rule off burning me on the stake. After learning from their mistakes, they will never waste their time in having me killed. My head could be chopped off and paraded on the streets back in the town. A disgraceful death. If I think the other way round, with regards to the Werewolves. Should they be caugh
