Uncomfortable Vera

For the next few minutes, Vera remained silent. Perhaps, she has suddenly run out of words... I really can't tell. Or Maybe, she was still thinking about the right answer to present to me concerning my humble request.

"You are not talking, Vera!... You are not saying anything... Why did you suddenly become quiet?"I asked while expecting her to reply to me immediately. She never did.

Vera began walking away from me. I did not try to stop her. I let her do what was on her mind at that moment. At first, I thought she was going to walk out on me. I was wrong, she never did. Instead, she walked only a few meters and stopped.... about four meters so to say.

She was still turning her back on me. I guess she was going to say something after pausing her movement abruptly.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you again, but I can't go with you to the banquet at the king's palace."

I countered immediately. "And why will you say that?.... I ask you again, what's the problem?"

"I can not go to the palace of a
