Chapter eighty three

Maricela, who was happily savoring the Braised Duck and Sweet and Sour Fish, abruptly halted and her expression shifted. "Maricela, what's the matter?" Her mother inquired with concern.

Her hand, clutching the chopsticks, trembled slightly. Despite realizing it wasn't prudent to call out in a crowded setting, her body instinctively responded quicker than her mind. "Kathy!" At the sound of the voice, Kathy glanced over to see Maricela. It truly was a small world; she hadn't anticipated running into her while dining out.

"Oh, it's Maricela. Are you having dinner with your sister?" Kathy deduced that the person across from Maricela was likely her mother. Sensing Maricela's agitation without a clear cause, it was best to first steady the situation.

Maricela's mother, seated across from Maricela, was pleased by Kathy's words.

"Maricela, is this your friend? She speaks so eloquently. Young lady, I am Maricela's mother, not her sister."
