VALERIE'S POV "Valerie, come and sit with me Dear.Let's talk about your experience over there" My Dad said sweetly What does my father want me to say? I have never enjoyed discussing it with my dad because of how strict he is. "Dad, there is nothing much to say. But, I enjoy the place". Praying that he does not ask another question. "What of Ezra? How is your relationship with him?" "Very fine dad, he has been busy of late. I try as much as I can to assist him" "So, what are his plans towards you? I have been waiting to hear a good news, but no one seems to be updating me" "Uhmm, we are still in the process sir" "For how long? I mean how long will it take you two to make your decisions" "Dad, like I said, we are working on it. We are just taking our time so as to avoid making mistakes" "Alright, there is no cause for alarm. I and your mother await good news. But, Ezra should remember that you are our only child and daughter. It is because you are his mate, I would have g
My mother concluded that I won't be going to school that day. I was happy. She gave me my breakfast and I had to sleep all through the morning. I missed classes because of my foolishness but, I still didn't learn. I had a particular phone that my dad gave me to be able to reach him or my mom whenever I am left alone at home. I was instructed never to give the number to anybody, but I was very stubborn. Maya my friend has the number. She called me that Friday night to ask why I didn't come to school, I lied to her that I was sick. She told me that one of our classmate's mother was going to celebrate her birthday on Saturday night which was the next day. How was I supposed to leave the house for a party that is not my mate's? Maya told me she had a plan. That she would come to my house with her elder sister, then she will call my phone so that I could come out. She urged me to make sure I get prepared on time. I asked Maya if her elder sister knows the celebrant. She told me tha
"Dad, are you saying I am free to go?"He looked at my mom. "Yes, your dad considered the fact that your class teacher called and pleaded. We don't want you to feel somehow different from your classmates" my mother spoke"You are free to go but promise us that you will behave yourself, and represent us well" Dad asked"I promise dad" placing my hand on my chest as a sign of promise. I went back to my room, feeling so excited. I called Maya on the phone and shared the great news with her. I started preparing ahead of that day. I couldn't wait for that day to come. One of my excitements were because I was going to experience life outside home for a few days without my parents. During break hours in school, the excursion was the major topic we all talked about. I became less concerned about my studies. The night before our departure, my mom came into my room and gave me a few clothes she bought from the stores. She helped me arrange those clothes in my bag including the ones meant f
I left her and went back to my bed. The next morning, Maya came and apologized to me which I accepted. We went to take our bath. I came back to my bed, so that I could call my mother and say good morning to her but, my phone was nowhere to be found. I knew I kept it under my pillow, I searched in my bags but it was not there. I started crying. Maya came to me and asked what was wrong. I told her that i could not find my phone. "Again? Who took it?" "I don't know" I left her there, went to report to the teacher about the incidence. "Why will you be the only one looking for something? Maybe you are careless, try to be careful with your belongings" I was not satisfied. At least she should have come to the room and helped me search for it. It was then I knew that we had thieves living among us. There was no way to reach home. I knew mom would be worried. I made a silent prayer, I wish to leave here soon and save. That day, we were told that the main excursion starts immedia
I went up to my room and recalled what happened a few days back. "I thought Maya was a true friend. I am happy I went for this excursion and saw the real person I call my friend" My mom came into my room and informed me that she would be going to the supermarket. "Remember to get something for me" "Sure! Valerie, I will"Immediately my Mom left, I quickly got dressed. I had the intention of visiting my new friend whom I met at the birthday party Maya invited me. I will try and come back early before my mom. As I approached his house, I heard someone calling me. I turned towards the direction and I saw who I came to see. He directed me to come into the house. At first, I was too shy to talk with him. He is older than me by just a year. We related so well and he treated me nicely. I was happy that I have gotten another friend that would replace Maya in my life. When I checked my wrist watch, I discovered I had spent two hours with him. "Oh my God! I didn't know I have stayed this
I was carried away by the thoughts about my childhood days. I checked my time, "Ouch! It's very late. I need to sleep. I have had a long day. I heard a knock on my door. I was very tired to get up from my bed. "Did I lock it?" It has been part of me to always lock my room every night. It all started from my childhood days. "Dad! Why are you dressed in a sporty wear?" Just then, my mom showed up. "Wow! What's happening? You two are going for early morning exercise I guess" "You guessed right" "When did this start?" The two couples looked at themselves and smiled. "Would you like to join us?" Dad asked. "Not at all. I feel so tired" "It's alright, when you feel like taking your breakfast. The food is ready" Mom said. I admired them as they walked down the stairs. My phone rang and I knew who the caller was. "Hello" "Valerie, how was your night?" "Very well Ezra" "When are you returning?" How does he expect me to answer that question? "I just arrived yesterday
VALERIE'S POV One thing I like about my parents is that they carry each other along. They always do things together. My parents don't hide anything from each other. I remember while I was growing up, they always go up to the roof of the house every night, but I never cared to find out why. I came back from school, looking so exhausted. I couldn't do my assignment, so I went to bed. It was midnight, I woke up because I was hungry. I knew I didn't eat anything before going to bed. I rushed down to the kitchen, mom actually brought out my portion of food and covered it. I only had to put it in the microwave to make it hot. After eating, I remembered I had an assignment to make and I needed mom's laptop to do that. I went towards the door to their room. I knocked three times but I didn't get any response. I tried the knob of the door and it opened. I didn't see mom nor did I see my dad. I knew they must have gone to the roof again. But what are they always doing up there? I c
I cut in. "But what?" I was beginning to get upset. Why will such information be hidden from me? "We were waiting for the right time to tell you this, because we don't know how you would feel," Mom said. "We wanted you to be strong enough and be sure that you could handle the pain of transforming into a wolf" I became confused. What pain were they talking about? I was deep in thought recalling all that happened in the past, when my phone rang. It was the last person I expected that would call me. "Hello, Chelsea" "Valerie, I have been trying your line for a long time. What happened?" I knew she lied. How can she be calling my number for so long and it was not connecting? When did I travel? "I traveled" "Wow, you traveled and you couldn't tell me" "Why are you acting up as if you cared about my whereabouts? I supposed that you should be happy that I am no longer around" "Valerie, why are you talking like this? You are still my friend" "Really!" She thinks that I
