SURPRISE II.

The meeting was over; Noah was still in a trance, not only at Isabel's house, where he had to tolerate it, but now at work. It seemed strange to him that Isabel hadn't mentioned anything about acquiring a share in the company and that it was in his older sister's name.

Noah got up from his seat. They toured the company, and Mr. Beltrán said his goodbyes before leaving. Noah pointed out Alejandro's office.

"Which will be my office?"

Hayami asked, approaching Noah.

"Yes, come on, I'll show you."

They walked and, after passing Ariel's desk, arrived at an office directly across from Noah's. The company offices were made of transparent glass, very elegant; everything could be seen, although they also had a blind that could provide privacy.

"This will be your office, right across from mine."

He said with a touch of displeasure. He didn't understand why she bothered him; maybe it was her personality.

"Perfect. I imagine Angelica is in front of my office, right?"

Hayami hugged the shoulders of the girl still standing next to them.

"That's right. I'll let you settle in your office. Let me know if you need anything, but if you don't, it's even better."

"Oh, brother-in-law! You're very funny, oh! Sorry... Thank you, sir."

Hayami smiled; he simply rolled his eyes and then left the office, leaving Angélica and Hayami alone.

"Miss, thank you very much for the opportunity. You'll see I'll do everything."

"It's nothing, you know? The important thing here is that you're a sweet person, and I could tell just by the smile you gave me without even knowing who I was; I know you'll do a good job."

"Yes, miss, I'll leave you alone now to get settled in your office. If you need anything, just let me know."

"Thank you, yes, I'll just sort a few things, and we'll get to work."

Angélica left the office. Hayami sat down in that black office chair and turned on the computer on the left side; she had some pending emails to check. When she turned on the computer from YouTube, she put on a song. She really liked music, especially when it came to work; it made her feel encouraged and inspired. After she put on a few songs, she opened her email and started. to answer some pending emails, not realizing she was across the hall. Noah was still staring at her in disbelief. He watched her typing on the computer; she was obviously very focused, and had a pretty profile. The morning light fell on her red hair; he thought if only she had a different personality, maybe she would catch his attention. He stopped looking at her to review some papers.

The day had ended; it had been a seemingly peaceful day. Hayami worked part of the afternoon, catching up on her department. Noah went out to lunch with some very important clients.

Hayami grabbed her bag; as she left the office, she said goodbye to Angélica, who was also gathering her things.

"See you tomorrow, Miss."

"See you tomorrow. Don't you want a ride?"

She asked politely.

"No, don't worry, my boyfriend came to get me."

"Okay, then see you tomorrow. Have a good night."

Hayami walked, meeting Noah as he was leaving his office.

—"Graduate."

He said mockingly, and she smiled back.

—Even if you find it hard to believe, I am; I studied business administration and management. Well, whatever. I'm leaving... Are you going to see my sister tonight?

—No, I won't go tonight.

—Oh! I imagine you're going to a club.

—Maybe...

He replied flatly; the two remained silent until they finally walked toward the elevator. As they got on, they remained silent. The walk to the company parking lot became awkward. As they left, Hayami walked ahead of him, but after a few steps, she stopped. Halting Noah's stride, she turned to face him. Her skirt made a circular motion, as did her hair. Her gaze met his.

—What's wrong?

He asked without taking his gaze from hers.

Her sigh was long.

"Isabel asked me to get along with you. We've gotten off to a bad start since that night, so for her sake, I'll try to be cordial with you, though I'm not promising anything."

"Sounds good to me. I'll still do my best to tolerate you."

She smiled, making Noah think that with that smile any man would fall at her feet; he quickly pushed those thoughts out of his head.

"See you tomorrow, boss."

She said, turning around and continuing on her way. She got into her car and drove off, leaving him alone. He only snorted a little. In short, she was a unique woman; he had never met anyone with that kind of personality, so explosive yet mysterious, a little conceited, daring but still alluring.

"Stop thinking about that stuff."

She told herself, and walked to her car to go straight to her apartment to sleep. It had been a very busy day.

Hayami got out of the car when she got home; upon entering, she saw her sister coming up the stairs.

"How did it go?"

"Fine, your boyfriend, he's not such a bad boss."

Isabel looked confused.

"What? I don't understand."

Hayami went up the stairs, took Isabel's hand, and continued up.

"You'll find out eventually, so I'll tell you: I'm working at Noah's company."

"What? Why didn't you tell me?"

Isabel asked, somewhat surprised.

"I didn't know until last night, and I honestly thought it was funny not saying anything; clearly I wasn't wrong. If you had seen his face, gosh! It was hilarious."

"Oh, little sister, there's no solution with you!"

"I know, I know."

Upon reaching Hayami's room, they both stopped.

"Don't worry, I'll try to get along with him for you."

"Thank you, he's a good boy."

"Mmmmmmm, if you say so."

Doubting her sister's words.

"Oh, by the way, will you keep what you once promised?"

"Me? What did I promise that I don't remember?"

"That when I got married, you'd be my bridesmaid."

"Did I say that?"

Isabel looked annoyed.

"Fine, fine, whatever my 'little' sister wants for her fake wedding."

She pressed Isabel's cheek.

"You're hopeless."

Isabel said, rolling her eyes.

"I know, but that's how you love me."

Hayami replied as she entered her room.

"I love you, rest."

Hayami walked completely into her room, and Isabel continued toward hers.
