Ruby's POV.
“Are you going crazy or something? You want to take revenge on the man you just married?” Julian’s irritation was evident as he reacted to my proposal.
“That’s not the point,” I replied firmly. “I want to know if you’re willing to get revenge or if you prefer to watch your company collapse in the next three years.”
Julian looked increasingly perplexed, clearly struggling to understand my offer. All I wanted was for us to work together.
“How would you know what will happen in the next three years?” he asked, his voice tinged with scepticism.
“That’s not important right now,” I said, emphasising my urgency. “Just join forces with me so you don’t lose your company.”
He seemed to be weighing my words, his silence suggesting deep contemplation. I could see the conflict in his expression.
“I’m sorry, I can’t,” he finally muttered, shaking his head as he began to turn away.
Desperate not to lose this chance, I reached out and grabbed his hand, halting him in his tracks.
“I know how much you want to reclaim what’s rightfully yours and your family’s, and I can help with that. You deserve a larger share, so why not seize this opportunity?” I urged, my voice firm and persuasive.
Julian paused, clearly considering my words. His gaze was intense as I waited for his response.
“Fine, let's say I help you get your revenge. What would be your gain watching your husband crumble? Because trust me, when it comes to getting revenge, I dare not look back!” he asked, curiosity mingled with cautious bargain.
I mulled over the question, searching for the right answer. Suddenly, a smile spread across my face, and I met his gaze with confidence.
“No other reward than satisfaction,” I declared. “I’ll be satisfied just seeing Logan crumble, begging for mercy.”
Julian’s expression softened into a smile, and I felt a surge of relief knowing we were on the same page.
“Fine, if that’s what you want, I’ll help you,” he agreed. “I can’t let you face something this dangerous alone.”
We moved into a room to flesh out our plan. Julian settled onto a couch, while I perched on the edge of the bed, ready to strategize.
We continued discussing the details of our plan when Julian suddenly interjected with a question.
“What do you have in mind?” he asked, his curiosity piqued.
“It’s very simple,” I replied. “To take down the devil, you must first defeat its demon.”
Julian was visibly impressed by my straightforward explanation of how to deal with Logan.
“Once I have a concrete plan, I’ll let you know,” I assured him.
“You don’t even have a plan. How do you expect this to work?” he muttered, his scepticism evident.
“I will have a plan; it’s just that I got Reborn to…” I trailed off, realising my slip of the tongue. I couldn't let anyone know I had a second chance at life.
Julian’s eyes narrowed in confusion and suspicion. He was clearly puzzled by my mention of being “reborn,” and I could sense that if I didn’t address it, he might think I was losing my sanity.
I wanted to clarify, but Julian raised his hand, signalling me to hold off. I watched him take a deep breath, sensing that he was about to ask me about my strange statement.
“What do you mean by ‘reborn’?” Julian asked, his tone a mix of curiosity and concern.
I hesitated, grappling with whether to reveal the truth about my situation. ‘Should I just tell him everything? No, he’ll think I’m crazy. I can’t, I thought to myself.
Julian continued to gaze at me, waiting for an explanation. I struggled to find a plausible response, but nothing felt right.
“It’s… it’s nothing,” I mumbled, hoping to brush off the awkwardness.
The silence between us grew uncomfortable. I knew I had to do something to clear up the misunderstanding.
Just as I was about to speak, my phone rang. I glanced at the screen and saw an unknown number. Initially, I considered ignoring it but decided to answer.
“You have to hurry right now,” a panicked voice said on the other end.
“I can barely understand you. What’s going on?” I asked, my voice tinged with fear.
“Hannah has just… just gotten into an accident and her case has worsened! Hurry up,” the caller said urgently before the line went dead.
My eyes widened in shock when I heard Hana’s name. In my past life, she was my best friend until our relationship soured.
I cut ties with her after she tried to persuade me to leave Logan, revealing many of his deceitful actions. I was angry and refused to believe her, ultimately asking her to leave my house. After that, I lost contact with her.
Now, hearing that Hannah was in an accident; something I had no memory of in my past life; shocked me to my core.
I immediately stood up to leave, but Julian grabbed my hand. I tried to pull away, but his grip tightened.
“What’s happening? You can’t just leave,” he said, his concern evident.
“I have to go. Someone is in trouble, and if I don’t act quickly, she might die,” I said, my voice tinged with panic.
“I’ll help you get there,” Julian offered urgently.
I was about to decline, but his insistence convinced me otherwise. I accepted his help, and we quickly got into his car. Julian instructed his assistant to drive us to Wilton Hospital.
When we arrived at the hospital, I quickly opened the car door and rushed inside, my wedding dress drawing curious glances from the people around.
I made my way to a door and pushed it open, my heart sinking when I saw Hannah being attended to by a doctor. The sight overwhelmed me, and I collapsed to the floor, tears streaming down my face.
The sight of her in distress was unbearable. Nurses hurried in, trying to pull me away, but I resisted, unwilling to leave her side.
Julian approached, his voice steady as he reassured me. “Let the doctor do his job. Hannah will be fine,” he said, trying to calm me.
Struggling to rise in my cumbersome wedding gown, the nurses assisted me out of the room. My mind raced with confusion and dread; such an accident wasn’t part of my past life’s events.
I suspected Logan was behind this. Determined to get some answers, I started to leave the hospital but was stopped by Julian. “Where are you heading to this time?”
“I have to go somewhere, and you can’t follow me,” I said firmly.
“Why not? Let me come with you. It's dangerous for you to be by yourself!” He insisted but I didn't want him to.
I briefly wondered why he suddenly cared about me but paused at the realisation of the current situation.
“I'll go by myself.” Without waiting for further explanation, I turned and got into a taxi heading home.
As I arrived, I saw Logan and Sophie whispering together. Sophie’s eyes widened when she noticed me. She approached with a fake concerned look.
“Did you hear the news? Hannah got into an accident and…” she began, but her words trailed off as she took in my distressed reaction.
“I know you did it, you bitch!” I shouted, my fury boiling over as I slapped Sophie.
She recoiled, her eyes wide with shock. “What has gotten into you? Why did you just slap me?” she yelled, her voice trembling.
I was beyond controlling my emotions. All I wanted was to make Sophie pay for her cruelty.
“How dare you? How dare you hurt Hannah?” I seethed, grabbing her by the neck with a vice-like grip.
I tightened my hold, my rage consuming me. Sophie struggled to breathe, but before I could inflict more harm, Logan intervened. He pulled me away, his face a mix of confusion and anger.
“What has gotten into you?” he grumbled, directing his concern towards Sophie, who gasped for air and tried to recover.
He checked on Sophie, making sure she was alright, while I stood there, trembling with frustration and regret.
‘Why didn’t I see through the deceit all along?’ I muttered to myself, shaking my head in disbelief.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know Hannah would get into an accident, and I’m not responsible for it,” Sophie stammered, her voice shaky.
Despite her words, I could see the greed and anger she was desperately trying to conceal. Her eyes betrayed the same malice I had seen before, back when I was being burned alive in my past life.
“Don’t shift the blame on me. You would have been the one dead if you had been in that car instead of Hannah. So, you caused it, not me,” Sophie spat, her voice laced with venom.
“What… Stop it. Don’t say that,” Logan interjected sharply, trying to silence Sophie not knowing I was already aware of the truth.
At that moment, a crushing realisation hit me. Everything I had tried to avoid in this second life seemed to get out of control, affecting those I cared about deeply.
It was bound to happen no matter how much I tried to avoid it.
I sank to the ground, overwhelmed by guilt. “I caused Hannah’s accident. What if she ends up crippled? What if she dies?” I wept, the weight of my actions bearing down on me.
Logan and Sophie watched for a moment before turning their backs and heading into a room. Logan didn't care about me.
“What have I done?” I whispered to myself, tears streaming down my face.
Ruby's POV.I stood by the window, sipping my coffee and gazing out at the world outside. The frustration was building inside me, especially since Logan hadn’t even checked on me the previous night. The more I thought about it, the more I felt frustrated by him. Even after our wedding, he hadn’t cared about how I was doing. Instead, he was busy cheating on me with Sophie.“Oh Ruby, how could you have been so naive in your past life? I need to be smarter this time to avoid falling victim again,” I muttered to myself. My phone buzzed, pulling me from my thoughts. I picked it up and read the message: “Grandma wants to see you.” The reminder hit me hard; Grandma was still alive now.I felt a pang of longing for her, remembering how much I missed her after her death; planned by Logan and Sophie.“Those heartless bastards. I won’t let you hurt her again,” I declared with determination.I quickly dressed, eager to leave, but as I was heading out, I ran into Logan, who was alone in the living
Julian's POV. "I wish I had you," I whispered quietly to myself.Sitting alone in my office, I held a picture of her in my hand. My chest ached with how much I missed her. I wanted her so badly, wished she could be mine, but she belonged to someone else. I thought about her so deeply that I didn’t even notice my assistant enter the room.“Sir? Sorry to interrupt, but we have work to handle,” he said, pulling me back to reality.I let out a heavy sigh and stood up, placing the picture gently on my desk. The photo was in plain view now, and my assistant’s eyes immediately caught it.“Still thinking about her, sir?” he asked quietly, staring at the photo. I stayed silent, unsure how to answer him. What could I say? As I reached for my suit jacket, he spoke again, and this time, his words hit a nerve.“You know you can’t have Mrs. Ruby, sir. She’s married. Maybe... maybe it’s time to move on.”His words made sense, but they cut deep. Move on? How could I? Ruby had married Logan, someo
Ruby's POV“No... No, Julian!” I screamed, my voice breaking with fear.I ran as fast as I could to where he lay, collapsing beside him. Grabbing his hand, I felt the warmth of his blood, and my heart shattered. He was bleeding so much, his body limp and lifeless.Seeing him like this was horrifying. Panic surged through me. I didn’t know what to do, how to save him.“Please... Please stay with me!” I cried, my voice trembling with desperation.Tears streamed down my face, and I couldn’t stop them. I sobbed uncontrollably, not caring who saw me. All I knew was that I couldn’t lose him,not like this. My eyes scanned around, searching for help, but the crowd of people just stood there, watching from a distance. No one came closer.“Help! Please, someone call an ambulance! Do something, please!” I screamed, my voice cracking with terror.I looked down at Julian. His eyes were fluttering shut, and his body was motionless. He wasn’t gripping my hand anymore, and his chest barely moved. F
Ruby's POVDr. Smith’s words hit me like a wave, crashing over me and leaving me gasping for air.“We tried our best. I’m sorry for your lost,” he said, his voice low and filled with sorrow.I stood there, frozen in shock. The news he delivered to me pierced through my heart like a knife. My eyes widened in disbelief as tears rushed to the surface. A suffocating pain gripped my chest, and I felt my body go numb.It was because of me. If I hadn’t dragged Julian into this, he would still be alive. The weight of that thought almost crushed me. I could barely stand under the guilt, knowing that he was gone because of me. “No... No, it can’t be. Julian!” I screamed out in anguish, my voice cracking. I ran toward the emergency room, my feet stumbling as I fought to get inside. My heart pounded in my chest as I tried to push open the door. My body was shaking, and all I could think about was seeing him, just one last time. The nurses inside quickly blocked my way, their hands gripping my
Julian's POV My eyes slowly fluttered open that early morning, the dull light of the room greeting me. The moment I tried to move, a sharp pain shot through my body, like fire spreading under my skin. As my eyes scanned the room, it took a moment for me to realize where I was in a hospital. The steady beeping of machines and the smell of antiseptic confirmed it. I blinked, confused, my mind still foggy. That’s when I noticed someone beside me. They weren’t on the bed, but they were close, slumped in a chair next to me. Slowly, and with great effort, I shifted, my body protesting every movement, to get a better look. Who could it be? My heart skipped when I saw the familiar face. Ruby. Her soft breathing told me she was fast asleep. “What... What is she doing here? How is this even possible?” I thought, my mind racing. As I stared at her, bits and pieces of what happened began to flood my mind. The memories were hazy at first, but they started to come together, each one hit
Julian's POV. After few minutes, the door opened. Ruby came back into the room, but this time she wasn’t alone. A doctor followed close behind her, his face serious.“Mr. Julian, can you not remember anything that happened yesterday?” the doctor asked, his voice calm but his eyes full of concern.I shook my head, confusion weighing down on me. “No,” I replied, my voice hoarse. I couldn’t remember a single thing from yesterday. My mind was blank, like someone had erased parts of it.The doctor sighed deeply, exchanging a look with Ruby. His eyes lingered on her for a moment, like they shared some unspoken understanding. It made me uneasy, like they both knew something about me that I didn’t. I stared at them, trying to piece together what was going on, but everything felt like it was slipping through my fingers.Ruby and the doctor left the room, their quiet conversation fading down the hall. I lay there, still trying to make sense of what Ruby had said. How could I not remember? T
Ruby's POV"Is he going to be alright?" I asked Dr. Smith, my voice shaking with fear.Earlier, Dr. Smith had told me that Julian now had amnesia because of how bad the accident was. The shock of it all had messed with his memory, leaving him lost in his own mind. I couldn't help but think that maybe Julian had been trying so hard to remember what happened that his body just gave out, and that’s why he had collapsed into unconsciousness. “He’ll be fine,” Dr. Smith said, his voice calm but firm. “You don’t need to worry about him right now. The most important thing is that he’s alive.” Alive. That one word brought a mix of relief and fear. He was breathing, but who would he be when he woke up? Would he even know who I was?Dr. Smith suggested I go home and rest, though the idea of leaving Julian’s side made me anxious. I hesitated, not wanting to go. But he reassured me, promising that they would take care of Julian while I was gone. After a long moment, I finally gave in. I left
Ruby's POV“What do you mean by that?” I demanded, my voice trembling with both anger and disbelief as I stared at Sophie.Could it really be true? Was I right all along about who was behind the accident? My mind raced.Struggling to understand how she, my own sister, could do something so cruel to me again.I looked deep into Sophie’s eyes, searching for answers, though my heart already knew the truth. Her silence, the shock on her face,it all pointed to one thing. she was the one behind it. Before Sophie could respond, Logan stepped in. “You’re mistaken. You didn’t hear what she said right,” he said, grabbing hold of Sophie’s hand as if to shield her from my accusations.Didn’t hear right? The words echoed in my mind. I knew exactly what I heard, and no matter how much he tried to twist it, I wasn’t going to back down. Seeing Logan stand there, defending her, made my blood boil. How dare he? He wasn’t just protecting her, he was holding her hand right in front of me. It was too
Sophie's POV. “What’s keeping her so long?” I muttered under my breath, tapping my fingers against the table impatiently.I glanced toward the restroom again, but there was still no sign of Ruby. The minutes ticked by, and the more I waited, the more annoyed I became. I picked up my glass and took another sip, letting the wine slide down my throat as I tried to calm myself. She really thought I’d apologize to her after everything she did to me? How pathetic. I smirked to myself, shaking my head at her foolishness. Ruby always had this ridiculous habit of trusting too much, and tonight, that naivety would be her downfall.“She’s so dumb for falling into my trap,” I whispered, a grin of satisfaction spreading across my face. She actually drank the wine I gave her without a second thought. The thought made my heart race with excitement. Everything was falling into place. The drug I’d slipped into her glass would be kicking in soon,if it hadn’t already.I leaned back in my chair, savo
Julian's POV. I tried calling Ruby to warn her about Sophie, her sister. Something about Sophie’s behavior recently had been bothering me, and I couldn't shake the feeling that she was up to something dangerous. I needed Ruby to know now. But when I called her phone, it rang and rang. She didn’t answer.“Why isn’t she picking up?” I muttered, gripping my phone tightly. A knot formed in my stomach. Ruby had to know what was happening before it was too late. Sophie could be setting a trap, and if Ruby walked into it without knowing, I’d never forgive myself.I sat there, staring at my phone, waiting for it to light up with her name. Minutes felt like hours. Maybe she didn’t have her phone on her. Or maybe… maybe she already knew about Sophie’s plans? The thought barely comforted me. What if she didn’t? What if she was walking straight into danger? The clock kept ticking, and before I knew it, it was almost midnight. Still no call from Ruby. My heart sank. Was she that busy? Or worse
Ruby's POV“I knew you had no good reason to invite me here,” I said, my voice steady but cold as I stared at her.My mind was racing, weighing my options. If I left now, it would be too obvious I’d practically be admitting that I knew what she was planning. So, I stayed. I sat there, pretending everything was normal, even though my instincts screamed at me to run. I would wait and see how far she was willing to go.Minutes dragged by, and then I heard the sound of footsteps approaching. My muscles tensed as I turned toward the doorway, my heart pounding. It was Sophie. She walked in with a stormy expression, her anger from earlier still written all over her face.I sat perfectly still, like I had no idea what she had done or what she was about to do. She dropped into her chair, her movements sharp and irritated. Her mood hadn’t improved since the waiter embarrassed her earlier.“How is all of this my fault?” Sophie snapped, her voice bitter as she picked up the glass of wine. The
Ruby's POV:The next morning, as the soft sunlight filtered through my curtains, the first name that came to mind was Sophie. My chest tightened with unease. Why, after everything, did she suddenly want to apologize? It didn’t make sense. Sophie never did anything without a reason, and her reasons were rarely good.I pushed myself up, sitting on the edge of my bed as I rubbed the sleep from my eyes. Reaching for my phone on the nightstand, I opened the message she had sent. Her words stared back at me, simple yet unsettling.“What if it’s a trap?” I muttered to myself, my voice low as if someone could overhear me. “Nothing good ever comes from Sophie.”A strange feeling clung to me, one I couldn’t shake. It wasn’t fear exactly, but it wasn’t confidence either. It was like being caught in the middle of a storm, unsure if it would pass or if it was about to get worse. Half of me wanted to hear her out, to see what this so-called apology was about. The other half screamed at me to s
Ruby’s POV“I’m sorry about that. Shall we continue?” I said to the board members, my voice calm and composed.A confident smile spread across my face as I returned to my seat at the head of the table. My satisfaction radiated in every movement. The meeting resumed, but I could barely contain the quiet joy bubbling within me.Throughout the discussion, I couldn’t help the small, sly smile that kept tugging at my lips. Sophie had really fallen for it, and the look of humiliation on her face earlier had been priceless. It brought me a twisted sense of joy, fueling the fire of my carefully laid revenge plans. This particular part of the plan? Oh, it was the sweetest. It had unfolded perfectly, and the memory of Sophie’s embarrassment would keep me entertained for days.“Thank you all for your time,” I said as the meeting wrapped up. My tone was polite but carried an edge of triumph I couldn’t quite hide. The board members filed out one by one, their polite smiles and nods blending int
Julian's POV“What about the documents that were supposed to be submitted to the Prime Stone Company?” I asked, glancing at my assistant with a sharp gaze. My voice was calm but carried the weight of expectation.“They were submitted last week, sir,” he replied, his tone steady and professional.Hearing his answer, I felt a wave of relief and familiarity wash over me. Even though fate had rewound time and brought me back to the past, it was comforting to see that some things hadn’t changed. My assistant was still the same reliable, efficient, and someone I could count on in this chaotic second chance at life.I had avoided going to my company’s headquarters. I knew that if I stepped into that building, I would inevitably cross paths with the Thompson family. I wasn’t ready for that confrontation. Not yet. Instead, I chose to stay at home, working tirelessly in the quiet of my study.Work began piling up quickly, but I didn’t mind. Fortunately, my memories from my past life were int
Sophie’s POV“What did you just say?” I shot back at Logan, my voice sharp and trembling with disbelief.I couldn’t believe what I’d just heard. Blackmail? Was this what we had come to after everything we’d been through together? The thought made my stomach churn.“A blackmail?” I asked again, my eyebrows drawing together in a tight frown. My voice was quieter this time, but there was no mistaking the edge in my tone.Logan didn’t say a word. He just stood there, staring at me with that desperate, determined look on his face. It was like he didn’t even realize what he had just done, how low he had sunk. I felt a surge of bitter anger rise in my chest.Wow. I didn’t realize he could be this desperate. Desperate enough to use my own secrets against me just to get hold of the company. It was pathetic. And it hurt.My whole body burned with anger, a searing ache that I couldn’t shake off. Everything was piling up, weighing me down. First, Ruby had the audacity to accuse me of something
Logan's POVI stood frozen, my mind spinning as I tried to make sense of what I was seeing. Ruby and Julian? Together? What was happening between them?First, Julian had shown up at Sophie’s birthday party with Ruby. That alone had stirred something in me, questions I couldn’t shake off. And now, here they were again, together in her office, like there was some kind of secret they were keeping.I couldn’t piece it together, no matter how hard I tried. The answers felt just out of reach, slipping through my fingers like water. Yet, I couldn’t tear my eyes away. Standing there in Ruby’s office, I watched them through the transparent glass, their movements, their expressions it all seemed too familiar. Too close.“I need to figure out what’s going on between them,” I whispered under my breath, the words barely audible even to myself.I turned away and stepped out of her office, but the uneasy feeling stayed with me. The corridor was empty, and my stomach sank when I realized they were
Logan's POV"What just happened?" Did Sophie really just kick me out? My chest felt tight, my face frozen in pure disbelief.I know I shouldn’t have lost control like that. Slapping her in front of Ruby and her grandmother it was a terrible move, I admit it. But Sophie had pushed me to the edge. She cornered me, left me with no other way to react.I was furious, absolutely fuming. The frustration bubbled up inside me, making my whole body tense. What Sophie did… it wasn’t just a mistake. It wasn’t something small. She completely destroyed everything I had been working for.Everything I’ve waited for since marrying Ruby gone, just like that. It wasn’t about love. It was about that opportunity. The one thing I had my eyes set on when I walked down that aisle. And Sophie, she just snatched it away from me.Why? Why would she do this to me? What was going through her head? How could she be so careless, so cruel? The thought burned in my mind, over and over again. She knows. Sophie kno
