Ruby's POV.
"Can't you hear me?" Sophie asked, her voice carrying a mix of frustration and worry.
I was still grappling with confusion, trying to piece together what was happening. My last clear memory was a blur of pain and despair; dying because of Logan and Sophie. But now, everything felt strangely altered, as if I had been transported to another reality.
"Why am I wearing a wedding dress?" I wondered, my mind racing. I wasn't dreaming was I? I thought briefly and just then, I thought of one possible chance; REBIRTH!
Sophie’s voice broke through my spiralling thoughts again. “Hello?”
I blinked, trying to focus on her face, which seemed to be filled with a blend of concern and urgency.
My heart raced as I stammered, “What year is this?” My voice was tinged with panic, and I could feel my eyes widening in disbelief.
Sophie’s gaze remained fixed on me as she moved closer. She knelt beside me, her face inches from mine, and gently placed her hand on my forehead.
Her touch was warm and surprisingly soothing, yet it did little to quell the storm of questions and fears swirling inside me.
“Are you sick or something?” Sophie demanded, her voice tinged with irritation. “It’s the 26th of June, 2024… your wedding day! Just stop all this drama and go get married to Logan.” she said like she wanted me to.
The name "Logan" hit me like a jolt of electricity. My mind struggled to catch up with her words. “Getting married to Logan? And I walk?” I asked, my voice trembling with a mix of hope and fear.
Sophie’s exasperation was palpable. “You must be kidding me,” she snapped, grabbing my hand and yanking me upright.
As soon as I was on my feet, my heart began to hammer in my chest. The pounding was deafening, almost as if it was trying to ground me in this bewildering reality. I felt the shaky strength returning to my legs, and a rush of disbelief flooded my senses.
I stared at Sophie with wide eyes. The realisation of what was happening hit me with full force; I had actually been REBORN.
The reality was still so confusing that it was hard to grasp. After being burnt by the fire set up by Sophie and Logan, I got reborn, four years before my death.
I was reborn four years before everything began to happen. I wasn't crippled, I wasn't vulnerable, I wasn't weak.
Sophie’s perplexed expression only deepened as she watched me gaze around like a lost bride. I needed confirmation that this wasn’t some twisted dream.
In a frantic gesture, I pinched her hand hard, bracing myself for any sign of illusion. But the sharp pain that followed was all too real.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” she screamed, her voice cracking with frustration.
Sophie’s frustration was evident as she snapped at me to get ready, her anger evident in every word. Without waiting for a response, she stormed out of the room, leaving me alone.
I stood there, a mix of disbelief and excitement swirling within me. “I have been reborn,” I whispered to myself, trying to wrap my mind around the reality of it.
“That means I have a chance to fix my past mistakes and get my revenge on Logan and Sophie for what they did to me.”
The thrill of opportunity coursed through me. This was a second chance I wasn’t willing to squander. Determined, I stormed out of the room and made my way toward the exit door.
As I approached, I heard the faint murmur of voices coming from a nearby room. Intrigued, I crept closer, straining to catch the conversation.
“Don’t worry, everything is working as we planned,” Logan’s voice came through clearly.
“I can’t wait to see her tremble and lose everything to us,” Sophie’s voice followed, laced with malicious satisfaction.
“She has always acted like she’s someone special. I hate her so much,” Sophie said, her voice dripping with venom.
The words struck me like a blow. I was stunned to hear that they had been plotting against me even on my wedding day. The realisation that they had been planning from the very start made my blood run cold.
“No… I can’t let this happen again,” I muttered under my breath, my anger rising. I was determined to escape and stop whatever their plan was.
In my haste to leave the hotel, I unexpectedly collided with someone. Startled, I looked up to find a man glaring at me, clearly waiting for an apology.
But as I met his gaze, I was taken aback by his striking appearance; his chiselled features, full lips, and piercing icy blue eyes made him look almost otherworldly.
“Excuse me? Where are you off to wearing a wedding gown?” he asked, his confusion evident.
Caught off guard, I stumbled for words. “I… I’m sorry,” I said, taking a step back, trying to regain my composure.
I took in his full appearance and quickly recognized him as Julian Thompson, Logan’s cousin. I recalled that in my previous life, Julian hadn’t been at my wedding. Their relationship had soured after Logan sold some of Julian’s company stocks, which led to the company’s bankruptcy and eventual shutdown.
Julian’s presence in this moment was startling and intriguing, pulling my focus from my anger and determination.
“Hello?” Julian’s voice snapped me back to reality.
“Oh, I’m sorry for bumping into you,” I said, my voice tinged with embarrassment.
“Next time, watch where you’re going,” he replied curtly as he began to walk past me.
A sudden impulse made me grab his hand before he could leave. He looked at me, puzzled by the sudden contact. I struggled to find the right words, my mouth opening and closing without sound.
“Can I help you with something?” he asked, his tone a mix of curiosity and impatience.
I was going to ask him for a favour but I wasn't sure how he'd take it.
“Ummm, nothing,” I stammered, finally letting go of his hand. I watched as he walked away.
“Since this is my fate, I won’t let Logan and Sophie take the upper hand. Why don’t I lure them to their downfall and take my revenge?” I resolved, feeling a surge of determination.
I swiftly made my way to Logan’s room, ready to let him know I was prepared. Together, we headed to the venue, which was conveniently located in the same hotel.
The ceremony went off without a hitch, and once the vows were exchanged, the event concluded. As we prepared to leave, I noticed two cars parked and waiting for us; an SUV and a Mercedes.
“Why don’t you take the SUV, and Sophie and I can take the Mercedes?” Logan suggested with a smug grin.
I was about to climb into the SUV when a wave of déjà vu hit me. I froze, recalling a vivid memory from my past life; an accident on our wedding day that had left me severely injured and crippled.
‘No, not in this life' I said inwardly.
“What’s wrong? Aren’t you coming?” Logan asked, his voice tinged with impatience as he noticed my hesitation.
“I… I forgot something,” I stammered, desperately trying to mask my fear. “Why don’t you guys go ahead? I’ll catch up later.”
Sophie’s expression shifted noticeably when I mentioned that I’d catch up later. I caught a glimpse of her reaction, but I chose to ignore it, focusing on my own concerns.
Logan persisted, trying to persuade me to get into the SUV, but my decision remained. I refused, determined not to let the same disaster from my past life repeat itself. I insisted they should leave without me.
You think I don’t know your plan, Logan? You’re trying to set me up for an accident. I thought bitterly, as Logan continued his insistence.
“No, I still have some things to take care of. You can go ahead without me,” I said firmly, dismissing them.
As soon as I’d spoken, I turned and re-entered the hotel, my mind racing with strategies and plans for them.
As I walked into the hall, I unexpectedly came face-to-face with Julian. I approached him with a purposeful stride, my gaze fixed and intense.
“Why are you always showing up?” Julian asked, his tone a mix of annoyance and curiosity.
An idea struck me, and I moved closer to him, lowering my voice as I spoke with confidence. “I can help you reclaim your family’s name,” I offered boldly.
“What are you talking about?” he asked, clearly puzzled.
I smirked, noting his confusion. “I know you’re seeking revenge against the Thompson family as well… and I can assist you in that quest. All I need is your help in return,” I said with a knowing smile.
“Let's get revenge together on everyone that insulted you and your family!”
Ruby's POV.“Are you going crazy or something? You want to take revenge on the man you just married?” Julian’s irritation was evident as he reacted to my proposal.“That’s not the point,” I replied firmly. “I want to know if you’re willing to get revenge or if you prefer to watch your company collapse in the next three years.”Julian looked increasingly perplexed, clearly struggling to understand my offer. All I wanted was for us to work together.“How would you know what will happen in the next three years?” he asked, his voice tinged with scepticism.“That’s not important right now,” I said, emphasising my urgency. “Just join forces with me so you don’t lose your company.”He seemed to be weighing my words, his silence suggesting deep contemplation. I could see the conflict in his expression.“I’m sorry, I can’t,” he finally muttered, shaking his head as he began to turn away.Desperate not to lose this chance, I reached out and grabbed his hand, halting him in his tracks.“I know h
Ruby's POV.I stood by the window, sipping my coffee and gazing out at the world outside. The frustration was building inside me, especially since Logan hadn’t even checked on me the previous night. The more I thought about it, the more I felt frustrated by him. Even after our wedding, he hadn’t cared about how I was doing. Instead, he was busy cheating on me with Sophie.“Oh Ruby, how could you have been so naive in your past life? I need to be smarter this time to avoid falling victim again,” I muttered to myself. My phone buzzed, pulling me from my thoughts. I picked it up and read the message: “Grandma wants to see you.” The reminder hit me hard; Grandma was still alive now.I felt a pang of longing for her, remembering how much I missed her after her death; planned by Logan and Sophie.“Those heartless bastards. I won’t let you hurt her again,” I declared with determination.I quickly dressed, eager to leave, but as I was heading out, I ran into Logan, who was alone in the living
Julian's POV. "I wish I had you," I whispered quietly to myself.Sitting alone in my office, I held a picture of her in my hand. My chest ached with how much I missed her. I wanted her so badly, wished she could be mine, but she belonged to someone else. I thought about her so deeply that I didn’t even notice my assistant enter the room.“Sir? Sorry to interrupt, but we have work to handle,” he said, pulling me back to reality.I let out a heavy sigh and stood up, placing the picture gently on my desk. The photo was in plain view now, and my assistant’s eyes immediately caught it.“Still thinking about her, sir?” he asked quietly, staring at the photo. I stayed silent, unsure how to answer him. What could I say? As I reached for my suit jacket, he spoke again, and this time, his words hit a nerve.“You know you can’t have Mrs. Ruby, sir. She’s married. Maybe... maybe it’s time to move on.”His words made sense, but they cut deep. Move on? How could I? Ruby had married Logan, someo
Ruby's POV“No... No, Julian!” I screamed, my voice breaking with fear.I ran as fast as I could to where he lay, collapsing beside him. Grabbing his hand, I felt the warmth of his blood, and my heart shattered. He was bleeding so much, his body limp and lifeless.Seeing him like this was horrifying. Panic surged through me. I didn’t know what to do, how to save him.“Please... Please stay with me!” I cried, my voice trembling with desperation.Tears streamed down my face, and I couldn’t stop them. I sobbed uncontrollably, not caring who saw me. All I knew was that I couldn’t lose him,not like this. My eyes scanned around, searching for help, but the crowd of people just stood there, watching from a distance. No one came closer.“Help! Please, someone call an ambulance! Do something, please!” I screamed, my voice cracking with terror.I looked down at Julian. His eyes were fluttering shut, and his body was motionless. He wasn’t gripping my hand anymore, and his chest barely moved. F
Ruby's POVDr. Smith’s words hit me like a wave, crashing over me and leaving me gasping for air.“We tried our best. I’m sorry for your lost,” he said, his voice low and filled with sorrow.I stood there, frozen in shock. The news he delivered to me pierced through my heart like a knife. My eyes widened in disbelief as tears rushed to the surface. A suffocating pain gripped my chest, and I felt my body go numb.It was because of me. If I hadn’t dragged Julian into this, he would still be alive. The weight of that thought almost crushed me. I could barely stand under the guilt, knowing that he was gone because of me. “No... No, it can’t be. Julian!” I screamed out in anguish, my voice cracking. I ran toward the emergency room, my feet stumbling as I fought to get inside. My heart pounded in my chest as I tried to push open the door. My body was shaking, and all I could think about was seeing him, just one last time. The nurses inside quickly blocked my way, their hands gripping my
Julian's POV My eyes slowly fluttered open that early morning, the dull light of the room greeting me. The moment I tried to move, a sharp pain shot through my body, like fire spreading under my skin. As my eyes scanned the room, it took a moment for me to realize where I was in a hospital. The steady beeping of machines and the smell of antiseptic confirmed it. I blinked, confused, my mind still foggy. That’s when I noticed someone beside me. They weren’t on the bed, but they were close, slumped in a chair next to me. Slowly, and with great effort, I shifted, my body protesting every movement, to get a better look. Who could it be? My heart skipped when I saw the familiar face. Ruby. Her soft breathing told me she was fast asleep. “What... What is she doing here? How is this even possible?” I thought, my mind racing. As I stared at her, bits and pieces of what happened began to flood my mind. The memories were hazy at first, but they started to come together, each one hit
Julian's POV. After few minutes, the door opened. Ruby came back into the room, but this time she wasn’t alone. A doctor followed close behind her, his face serious.“Mr. Julian, can you not remember anything that happened yesterday?” the doctor asked, his voice calm but his eyes full of concern.I shook my head, confusion weighing down on me. “No,” I replied, my voice hoarse. I couldn’t remember a single thing from yesterday. My mind was blank, like someone had erased parts of it.The doctor sighed deeply, exchanging a look with Ruby. His eyes lingered on her for a moment, like they shared some unspoken understanding. It made me uneasy, like they both knew something about me that I didn’t. I stared at them, trying to piece together what was going on, but everything felt like it was slipping through my fingers.Ruby and the doctor left the room, their quiet conversation fading down the hall. I lay there, still trying to make sense of what Ruby had said. How could I not remember? T
Ruby's POV"Is he going to be alright?" I asked Dr. Smith, my voice shaking with fear.Earlier, Dr. Smith had told me that Julian now had amnesia because of how bad the accident was. The shock of it all had messed with his memory, leaving him lost in his own mind. I couldn't help but think that maybe Julian had been trying so hard to remember what happened that his body just gave out, and that’s why he had collapsed into unconsciousness. “He’ll be fine,” Dr. Smith said, his voice calm but firm. “You don’t need to worry about him right now. The most important thing is that he’s alive.” Alive. That one word brought a mix of relief and fear. He was breathing, but who would he be when he woke up? Would he even know who I was?Dr. Smith suggested I go home and rest, though the idea of leaving Julian’s side made me anxious. I hesitated, not wanting to go. But he reassured me, promising that they would take care of Julian while I was gone. After a long moment, I finally gave in. I left
Sophie's POV. I fell hard onto the cold floor, my cheek stinging from the slap Logan had just given me. For a moment, I was too shocked to even breathe. He had actually hit me. I couldn’t believe it. My face was hot with pain, and my mind raced, trying to understand what just happened. All because of that stupid contract. Something I hadn’t even touched or ruined. But Logan didn’t care. He blamed me anyway. When I looked up, I saw Ruby staring at us, her eyes wide with surprise, and even my grandma was frozen, unable to hide her shock.“You hit me over this worthless contract?!” I yelled, my voice shaking with anger and hurt. Logan glared down at me, his eyes filled with fury. “This is your fault! How could you be so careless, Sophie?” he shouted, his voice full of blame.I glanced over at Ruby again, and her expression had changed. She was smiling now, a small, twisted smile. She looked almost happy to see me like this, crumpled on the ground and broken. Seeing her smile made m
Ruby's POV. “I… I…” Sophie stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. Her lips trembled as she struggled to form the words, but nothing coherent came out. A slow, satisfied smile spread across my face. This, this was exactly what I had been waiting for. Everything had unfolded perfectly, and Sophie had walked right into my trap, just as I had planned. My grandmother’s face was etched with deep worry, her brows knitted together as she glanced from Sophie to me. Her frail hand trembled slightly in mine, and I gave it a reassuring squeeze, silently telling her I had everything under control.Sophie still stood there, rooted to the spot, her eyes wide with shock and confusion. The silence in the room stretched, heavy and suffocating.“Look at what you’ve done!” I suddenly shouted, my voice cutting through the stillness like a blade. Without thinking, I surged forward and slapped Sophie across the face, the sound of the impact echoing in the tense room. She staggered back, clutching
Ruby's POV. “Yeah, that’s what I thought. You’ve made a good decision,” Logan said, a smug smirk spreading across his face.A good decision? My blood boiled at his arrogance. I would never let him take my company, no matter how convincing he tried to sound. I stared at him, my face a mask of calmness, refusing to give him the satisfaction of knowing my true feelings.“So let’s get things done,” Logan added, his tone casual, as if he were discussing something as simple as the weather.Get what done? Did he really believe I would let him sign a contract and hand over everything I had worked so hard for? I stood there, glaring at him in silence, my thoughts racing.Suddenly, an idea flashed in my mind, igniting a spark of hope and mischief within me. I couldn’t help but smile as I pictured how this could turn out in my favor. It was a risky plan, but if it worked, it would put me back in control.Logan frowned slightly, clearly puzzled by my sudden change in demeanor. “What are you s
Ruby's POV. I could feel it.something was definitely up. Give you everything? Over my dead body. I would never hand over my company to him, not in a million years.“Why do you want it?” I asked, keeping my voice steady, though my patience was wearing thin.He went silent, his face unreadable as he stood there, clearly searching for the right words. I watched him, waiting, though each second of silence made my irritation grow. Finally, I turned away, deciding I didn’t care to hear his answer. I walked to my wardrobe, pulling out my night dress, already done with this pointless conversation.Just then, his voice cut through the quiet. “I’m supposed to have the company. I’m a man,” he said, his tone almost entitled.I froze, feeling a wave of anger and disgust rise up inside me. Because you’re a man? He actually believed he deserved the company that I had worked so hard to build, something I had poured my heart and soul into.Without turning around, I spoke, my voice cold and firm. “
Ruby's POV. “What is this?” I managed to ask, my voice barely steady. My heart pounded as I stared at the receipt, my name printed clearly at the top. Why was my name there? I didn’t make that payment. I hadn’t arranged for any of this, especially since the car was supposed to crush me up first, not Julian. None of this made any sense.I glanced over at Julian, hoping for some kind of sign, something that might explain this strange mix-up. But he looked just as confused, his eyes narrowing as if he was trying to piece together a puzzle with missing pieces. He might think I planned it all. And worse, he might think I had something to do with the accident. My stomach twisted. Julian didn’t remember anything about that night, so what was he supposed to think now?Just then, the driver’s voice broke into my thoughts, sharp and accusing. “You’re not going to lie now, are you?” he sneered, a smug look on his face.I felt my blood boil. I shot him a cold, hard glare that could cut throu
Julian's POV“Sophie!” Ruby shouted, her voice filled with fear as she saw the metal flying toward us.In a split second, Ruby pushed me aside, trying to shield me from the projectile. But I couldn’t just stand back and let her take the hit. My instincts kicked in, and I ran forward, throwing myself in front of her just as the metal struck. The impact hit my back hard, a sharp pain searing through me. I winced, feeling a wave of agony ripple across my skin. Thankfully, it missed the spot where I was already injured, but the pain was still enough to make me gasp. I clenched my teeth, fighting to hold back a cry as I tried to endure the hurt.“Julian!” Ruby exclaimed, her eyes wide with alarm as she turned to me. The worry on her face was palpable, and I could see the panic rising within her.She noticed my pain, and it tore at my heart to see her so frightened. I wanted to reassure her, to tell her I was okay, but the words caught in my throat. Instead, all I could do was hold my b
Julian's POV"It's not a crime to be here before you," Ruby said to Sophie, her voice steady but her smile clearly forced.I watched as Ruby tried hard to keep that fake smile on her face. It was obvious we were going to have to act like we came here just for the party, even though something darker hung in the air.Logan’s eyes locked on me, and I couldn’t quite read the look on his face, but it was intense. His brow furrowed deeply, and I knew he was wondering why I was here. His confusion was clear, but so was something else, something heavier.“I thought you didn’t want to come?” Logan asked, his voice louder than it needed to be. He wasn’t even looking at Ruby when he said it. His eyes stayed glued to me, sharp and piercing, like he was trying to figure me out or see through me.The way Logan stared at me was enough to make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I could feel his hatred, thick and heavy, almost suffocating. It wasn’t just in his eyes, it was in the way he stood
Julian's POV“It’s an important occasion, and I have to attend it!” I insisted, my voice firm as I explained to Dr. Smith.I had been begging him for what felt like hours now, pleading with him to let me go. But he remained unmoved, his expression serious, as he continued to insist that I couldn’t leave the hospital yet.All I could think about was Ruby. The thought of being there for her, helping her, was consuming me. I had already rented the hall, made all the arrangements, and told my assistant to go get her this morning. Everything was set, but the one thing that kept me from being there was this damn hospital bed.I couldn’t even remember what my old self had discussed with Ruby before, but that didn’t matter. All that mattered now was being close to her. This was my chance,a second chance I never thought I’d get. I wouldn’t let it slip away. Not this time.“Please, doctor. It’s urgent!” I pleaded, my voice stronger now, frustration mixing with desperation.Dr. Smith shook hi
Ruby's POV. "Why is he staring at me with that smile? This isn’t like him at all," I thought to myself, feeling my confusion grow. Julian never looked at me like this before, except for yesterday and it was hard to read his face, like he was holding back something.“You’ll need this,” I said quietly, handing Julian his phone. My eyes were still searching his face, trying to figure him out.“Why don’t you go home and get ready for tomorrow? I’ll send my assistant to pick you up,” he mumbled, his voice calm but distant.Pick me up? From my house? My thoughts raced. But he’s never been to my house before. Is he going to ask for my address now?I stood there, waiting, almost holding my breath, expecting him to ask for my address. But nothing. He didn’t say a word about it, like he already knew. My chest tightened with unease, but I tried not to let it bother me too much.Maybe because Logan is his cousin, Julian already knows where I live? I mean, since Logan and I were both married. I
