CHAPTER 9

Julian's POV.

After few minutes, the door opened. Ruby came back into the room, but this time she wasn’t alone. A doctor followed close behind her, his face serious.

“Mr. Julian, can you not remember anything that happened yesterday?” the doctor asked, his voice calm but his eyes full of concern.

I shook my head, confusion weighing down on me. “No,” I replied, my voice hoarse.

I couldn’t remember a single thing from yesterday. My mind was blank, like someone had erased parts of it.

The doctor sighed deeply, exchanging a look with Ruby. His eyes lingered on her for a moment, like they shared some unspoken understanding.

It made me uneasy, like they both knew something about me that I didn’t. I stared at them, trying to piece together what was going on, but everything felt like it was slipping through my fingers.

Ruby and the doctor left the room, their quiet conversation fading down the hall. I lay there, still trying to make sense of what Ruby had said.

How could I not remember? The more I thought about it, the more frustrated I became. Nothing made sense.

And seeing Ruby walk so freely, without the wheelchair she had used for years, only made it more surreal. How was she suddenly healed?

A few minutes later, Ruby returned. Her footsteps were light, and she moved with an ease that still shocked me.

I watched her closely, trying to understand how she was walking again. But before I could ask, she spoke.

“You really don’t remember how we planned to take down Logan and Sophie?” she asked, her tone almost accusing, like I should know exactly what she was talking about.

Hearing the name "Logan" sent a wave of anger crashing through me, but I clenched my fists and kept it hidden.

Logan, the man who had always tried to take everything I cared about, the devil in my life. Just the thought of him made my blood boil.

But hearing Ruby talk about revenge on him, that was something I didn’t expect. My mind spun with questions.

Ruby was married to Logan, wasn’t she? Why would she want to take revenge on her own husband? And what did her sister, Sophie, have to do with all of this?

I wanted to ask, to get to the bottom of whatever twisted plan she was talking about, but something stopped me.

I didn’t need to know what Logan and Sophie had done to her. Whatever it was, it didn’t matter.

If it meant getting back at Logan, revenge sounded like a good plan to me. A very good plan.

But as I sat there, my thoughts swirling, something caught my eye. I scanned the room and noticed something strange.

A bottle of water, sitting on a table in the corner. At first, it seemed ordinary, but then my heart skipped a beat. It was a brand I hadn’t seen in four years.

I blinked. How was it here now? That brand had disappeared, I was sure of it.

Then, out of nowhere, a memory flashed in my mind. The doctor who had come into the room earlier, his face suddenly became clear.

It was Dr. Smith. But something was wrong. He looked... younger. Much younger than I remembered. How could that be?

I turned toward Ruby, who was now watching me closely, confusion in her eyes.

She could see something had changed in me, that my mind was racing. I couldn’t hide how strange I felt, how everything seemed wrong.

“Can I see your phone?” I asked, my voice tight with urgency as I reached my hand out.

Ruby didn’t say anything, but after a moment of hesitation, she pulled her phone out and handed it to me.

My fingers fumbled slightly as I unlocked the screen and looked for the date. When I finally saw it, my breath caught in my throat.

It was the year 2020,four years back from 2024.

I stared at the screen, my heart pounding in my chest.

“How... how could this be possible?” I whispered, my voice filled with shock.

“What do you mean by that?” Ruby asked, her voice filled with concern as she leaned closer, trying to figure out what was going on with me.

But I couldn’t respond. I couldn’t speak. My mind was too full of questions, too full of fear and confusion. I felt like I was drowning in thoughts I couldn’t control.

The truth hit me like a ton of bricks,I was living in the past. Somehow, I had been thrown four years back in time, to a life that was supposed to be long gone.

This wasn’t just some strange coincidence; it felt like something far beyond my understanding.

At this moment, it seemed like I had been reborn, brought back to a time before my death. But being reborn was just a fantasy, a thing of stories.

Frustration boiled up inside me, overwhelming every thought in my head. It felt like my mind was spinning out of control.

Filled with so many questions and fears that I couldn’t think straight. It was too much, far too much.

My temples throbbed, and a sharp, stabbing pain shot through my head.

Suddenly, a memory hit me like a flash of lightning.a speeding vehicle, the screech of tires, the sickening impact as I was crushed beneath it. The memory felt too real, too raw.

“Arghh!” I groaned in pain, clutching my head, trying to push it all away.

“Julian, stop! Get a hold of yourself!” Ruby’s voice cut through the chaos, filled with worry as she tried to calm me down, but it wasn’t working.

Pieces of memories started to return, small fragments of my past flashing in my mind, but nothing was clear.

Everything was blurry, like a half-remembered dream slipping through my fingers.

My vision blurred, my eyes darting around the room as if the walls themselves were moving. I felt dizzy, like the ground beneath me was tilting.

A high-pitched ringing filled my ears, growing louder and louder until it drowned out everything else.

My head felt like it was going to explode. Nothing felt right, nothing felt real. I was trapped in a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from.

Desperate to steady myself, I tried to stand, pushing myself off the bed. But the moment I got to my feet, my body gave out.

I collapsed to the ground, my legs refusing to hold me up.

“Julian!” Ruby screamed, rushing to my side. She knelt beside me, grabbing my arms, trying to help me get up, but I couldn’t move.

I was still desperately trying to remember what had happened to me, but the more I tried, the more everything blurred.

My thoughts were scattered, pieces of my memories slipping through my fingers like sand.

Ruby panicked, her face pale with fear, and without a word, she bolted out of the room to get help.

Moments later, the doctor rushed in, followed by a few nurses. They surrounded me, trying to lift my limp body back onto the bed.

I could barely make sense of what was happening around me, my mind still spinning.

I felt the pressure of their hands as they lifted me, but it all seemed distant, like I was watching from somewhere far away.

With the nurses’ help, they managed to lay me back down on the bed. My body felt heavy.

I couldn’t shake the confusion. My heart pounded, and I struggled to stay present, to understand what was happening to me.

The doctor leaned over me, his face calm but focused, and he quickly injected something into my arm.

I felt a cold sting as the needle went in, and within seconds, a wave of drowsiness washed over me.

My eyelids grew heavier, the world around me blurring into shadows.

Everything started to fade, the room slowly spinning into darkness. The noise, the pain, the confusion,it all disappeared as sleep took over.

My thoughts quieted, and suddenly, everything turned black.
