Ruby's POV
"Is he going to be alright?" I asked Dr. Smith, my voice shaking with fear. Earlier, Dr. Smith had told me that Julian now had amnesia because of how bad the accident was. The shock of it all had messed with his memory, leaving him lost in his own mind. I couldn't help but think that maybe Julian had been trying so hard to remember what happened that his body just gave out, and that’s why he had collapsed into unconsciousness. “He’ll be fine,” Dr. Smith said, his voice calm but firm. “You don’t need to worry about him right now. The most important thing is that he’s alive.” Alive. That one word brought a mix of relief and fear. He was breathing, but who would he be when he woke up? Would he even know who I was? Dr. Smith suggested I go home and rest, though the idea of leaving Julian’s side made me anxious. I hesitated, not wanting to go. But he reassured me, promising that they would take care of Julian while I was gone. After a long moment, I finally gave in. I left the hospital, feeling like I was leaving a piece of myself behind. The ride home felt endless, and when I finally walked through the door, the house seemed too quiet, too still. In the living room, I found Logan, sitting there so casually, as if nothing was wrong. He wasn’t pacing the floor, he wasn’t calling to check on me. He just sat there, comfortable and calm, while my world felt like it was falling apart. "He’s still the same," I thought to myself, bitterness swirling inside me. What more could I possibly expect from someone like him? Someone so cold, so heartless. A man without the soul of a human being. This was the same person who had plotted with my sister, Sophie, to take everything from me. The same man who had tried to destroy me, to burn me alive. As soon as Logan noticed me step into the house, his eyes widened. “Honey? What… you’re home,” he stammered, his voice shaky. He got up and started walking toward me, reaching out to grab my hand. I pulled away, refusing to let him touch me. The disgust in my chest tightened as I watched him. I hated the way he was acting, pretending to care, like he hadn’t betrayed me in the worst way. Deep down, I was sure of one thing. Either Logan or Sophie, or both of them together, were responsible for what happened to Julian yesterday. The accident couldn’t have been a coincidence. They were capable of anything. “I’m fine. Just leave me alone,” I said, my voice cold and sharp. I didn’t even try to hide the ice in my words. Without another glance at him, I walked straight to my room. I needed to get away from his lies, his fake concern. As soon as I got in, I quickly took a bath, trying to wash away the anger and exhaustion clinging to me. Afterward, I went downstairs to get something to eat, though the thought of food barely made sense. But I needed to stay strong for Julian, for myself. Logan had already prepared something for me to eat. The sight of it made me feel sick, but I forced myself to hide the disgust twisting in my stomach. I couldn’t let him know how much I hated him, not yet. So, I pretended like everything was normal, like I didn’t have a reason to despise him. “Are you enjoying it?” Logan asked, sliding his arm around my shoulder as if we were a happy couple. The touch made my skin crawl. I wasn’t comfortable with how close he was getting, how fake he was acting. Without thinking, I pushed his hand off my shoulder. The sudden movement surprised him, and for a moment, he just stared at me, confused. I went back to eating, though every bite felt like a burden. My appetite had disappeared completely, and the food tasted bland. I wanted nothing more than to throw it all away, to get rid of any trace of his effort. But I couldn’t. I knew if I showed him how much I’d changed, he would get suspicious. I had to keep pretending, at least for now. Suddenly, my phone rang, cutting through the awkward silence. When I glanced at the screen and saw Dr. Smith’s name, my heart skipped a beat. Without thinking twice, I snatched the phone and quickly answered. “Hello? How is he now? Did anything happen?” I asked, my voice rushed and anxious, not even giving Dr. Smith a chance to speak first. I stopped eating the moment I answered the call, my heart pounding in my chest as I waited for the doctor’s reply. Every second felt like it stretched on forever. “He seems to be fine now, Mrs. Ruby. You can come to the hospital if you’re able,” Dr. Smith said, his words like a lifeline pulling me from the edge of fear. “Thank you so much, doctor,” I replied quickly, relief flooding through me as I ended the call. A sense of calm washed over me, but I knew I had to keep my guard up. Across the room, Logan stood silently, watching me with suspicious eyes. He was clearly wondering who I had been talking to and what had me so anxious. His curiosity was obvious, but I couldn’t let him know anything. Without wasting another moment, I grabbed my phone and headed upstairs to get my bag. I could feel his gaze burning into my back as I walked away, but I kept my face blank, trying not to give him any reason to doubt me. When I came back down, ready to leave for the hospital, my heart sank. Logan was standing right in front of the door, blocking my way. His eyes were sharp, filled with questions he wasn’t hiding anymore. “Where are you heading, Ruby?” he asked, his voice low and controlled, but I could hear the tension underneath. “Does it even matter to you?” I snapped the moment he asked the question, not bothering to hide the anger in my voice. I tried to pull my hand away from Logan, but his grip was like iron, too strong for me to break free. His fingers dug into my skin, and I could feel the pressure building as he tightened his hold. “Who is he?” Logan demanded, his voice sharp and cold. His eyes burned with rage, but I refused to meet them. I didn’t care about his anger.I just needed to get away. My mind was racing, searching for a way out, but all I could focus on was freeing myself from his grasp. I struggled harder, twisting and pulling, but he wasn’t letting go. His hand remained locked around mine. Out of pure instinct, I leaned forward and bit down hard on his hand. Logan yelled out in pain and immediately shoved me away. I lost my balance and fell hard onto the ground. Pain shot through me, but I barely had time to recover before I saw him coming toward me again, his face twisted with fury. “You’ll never change!” I shouted, my voice trembling with both anger and fear. “You’re still the same, heartless!” Logan’s eyes narrowed, and I braced myself for whatever was coming next. Watching the anger in Logan’s eyes, it all came flooding back. The terrible memory of how he and Sophie had left me to burn to death. He hadn’t changed at all. He was still the same cold, heartless Logan, incapable of feeling anything like a human being. I knew, deep down, that if I didn’t act fast, he would hurt me. I could see it in the way he moved toward me, the way his anger was boiling over. As he started to kneel beside me, I realized this was my only chance. Without thinking twice, I swung my fist and punched him hard in the face. The force of it surprised him, and for a second, I saw the shock flash across his face. Without wasting a moment, I scrambled to my feet, grabbing my bag as quickly as I could. “Ruby, get back here!” Logan roared, his voice filled with rage. I turned to look at him for a brief second, my heart pounding so hard it felt like it might burst. My body was trembling with a mix of fear and fury, but I couldn’t let him trap me again. I had to get out. Just as I turned to leave, something happened that I hadn’t expected. The door suddenly opened. Sophie stepped into the house, and the moment her eyes landed on me, she froze in shock. Her eyes widened, filled with confusion and curiosity, like she was staring at a ghost. Her lips parted as if to speak, but no words came out. She just stood there, staring at me like I wasn’t supposed to be standing in front of her. Her expression was strange, almost unsettling. I couldn’t understand why she was reacting this way. It was like she’d seen something impossible, something she never expected to see again. I didn’t have time to figure it out. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Logan struggling to get back on his feet. Panic shot through me.I couldn’t let him grab me again. I had to get out, now. “How… How are you alive?” Sophie finally managed to mumble, her voice trembling.Ruby's POV“What do you mean by that?” I demanded, my voice trembling with both anger and disbelief as I stared at Sophie.Could it really be true? Was I right all along about who was behind the accident? My mind raced.Struggling to understand how she, my own sister, could do something so cruel to me again.I looked deep into Sophie’s eyes, searching for answers, though my heart already knew the truth. Her silence, the shock on her face,it all pointed to one thing. she was the one behind it. Before Sophie could respond, Logan stepped in. “You’re mistaken. You didn’t hear what she said right,” he said, grabbing hold of Sophie’s hand as if to shield her from my accusations.Didn’t hear right? The words echoed in my mind. I knew exactly what I heard, and no matter how much he tried to twist it, I wasn’t going to back down. Seeing Logan stand there, defending her, made my blood boil. How dare he? He wasn’t just protecting her, he was holding her hand right in front of me. It was too
Ruby's POV. "Why is he staring at me with that smile? This isn’t like him at all," I thought to myself, feeling my confusion grow. Julian never looked at me like this before, except for yesterday and it was hard to read his face, like he was holding back something.“You’ll need this,” I said quietly, handing Julian his phone. My eyes were still searching his face, trying to figure him out.“Why don’t you go home and get ready for tomorrow? I’ll send my assistant to pick you up,” he mumbled, his voice calm but distant.Pick me up? From my house? My thoughts raced. But he’s never been to my house before. Is he going to ask for my address now?I stood there, waiting, almost holding my breath, expecting him to ask for my address. But nothing. He didn’t say a word about it, like he already knew. My chest tightened with unease, but I tried not to let it bother me too much.Maybe because Logan is his cousin, Julian already knows where I live? I mean, since Logan and I were both married. I
Julian's POV“It’s an important occasion, and I have to attend it!” I insisted, my voice firm as I explained to Dr. Smith.I had been begging him for what felt like hours now, pleading with him to let me go. But he remained unmoved, his expression serious, as he continued to insist that I couldn’t leave the hospital yet.All I could think about was Ruby. The thought of being there for her, helping her, was consuming me. I had already rented the hall, made all the arrangements, and told my assistant to go get her this morning. Everything was set, but the one thing that kept me from being there was this damn hospital bed.I couldn’t even remember what my old self had discussed with Ruby before, but that didn’t matter. All that mattered now was being close to her. This was my chance,a second chance I never thought I’d get. I wouldn’t let it slip away. Not this time.“Please, doctor. It’s urgent!” I pleaded, my voice stronger now, frustration mixing with desperation.Dr. Smith shook hi
Julian's POV"It's not a crime to be here before you," Ruby said to Sophie, her voice steady but her smile clearly forced.I watched as Ruby tried hard to keep that fake smile on her face. It was obvious we were going to have to act like we came here just for the party, even though something darker hung in the air.Logan’s eyes locked on me, and I couldn’t quite read the look on his face, but it was intense. His brow furrowed deeply, and I knew he was wondering why I was here. His confusion was clear, but so was something else, something heavier.“I thought you didn’t want to come?” Logan asked, his voice louder than it needed to be. He wasn’t even looking at Ruby when he said it. His eyes stayed glued to me, sharp and piercing, like he was trying to figure me out or see through me.The way Logan stared at me was enough to make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I could feel his hatred, thick and heavy, almost suffocating. It wasn’t just in his eyes, it was in the way he stood
Julian's POV“Sophie!” Ruby shouted, her voice filled with fear as she saw the metal flying toward us.In a split second, Ruby pushed me aside, trying to shield me from the projectile. But I couldn’t just stand back and let her take the hit. My instincts kicked in, and I ran forward, throwing myself in front of her just as the metal struck. The impact hit my back hard, a sharp pain searing through me. I winced, feeling a wave of agony ripple across my skin. Thankfully, it missed the spot where I was already injured, but the pain was still enough to make me gasp. I clenched my teeth, fighting to hold back a cry as I tried to endure the hurt.“Julian!” Ruby exclaimed, her eyes wide with alarm as she turned to me. The worry on her face was palpable, and I could see the panic rising within her.She noticed my pain, and it tore at my heart to see her so frightened. I wanted to reassure her, to tell her I was okay, but the words caught in my throat. Instead, all I could do was hold my b
Ruby's POV. “What is this?” I managed to ask, my voice barely steady. My heart pounded as I stared at the receipt, my name printed clearly at the top. Why was my name there? I didn’t make that payment. I hadn’t arranged for any of this, especially since the car was supposed to crush me up first, not Julian. None of this made any sense.I glanced over at Julian, hoping for some kind of sign, something that might explain this strange mix-up. But he looked just as confused, his eyes narrowing as if he was trying to piece together a puzzle with missing pieces. He might think I planned it all. And worse, he might think I had something to do with the accident. My stomach twisted. Julian didn’t remember anything about that night, so what was he supposed to think now?Just then, the driver’s voice broke into my thoughts, sharp and accusing. “You’re not going to lie now, are you?” he sneered, a smug look on his face.I felt my blood boil. I shot him a cold, hard glare that could cut throu
Ruby's POV.“Sign the divorce papers,” Logan threw the divorce papers at me with a sharp, dismissive gesture. The papers fluttered through the air before landing on my lap. I sat there in my wheelchair, feeling a deep, unsettling shock. “You know I don’t appreciate this kind of joke,” I said, trying to laugh, but my voice trembled. It was a special day; how could he be so cruel as to end our marriage now?“This isn’t a joke,” Logan’s voice was harsh and cold. “Just sign the damn papers. It’s over between us.”As I looked up at him, the coldness in his eyes hit me like a punch to the gut. He wasn’t kidding; he was serious. “Stop staring at me with that pitiful look and just sign it,” Logan’s tone was icy, his words cutting through the room. His detachment and finality left me numb, struggling to grasp how everything had happened so quickly.“It’s our fourth wedding anniversary,” I said, my voice breaking as my heart raced uncontrollably. “You can’t do this. You can’t just divorce me
Ruby's POV."Can't you hear me?" Sophie asked, her voice carrying a mix of frustration and worry.I was still grappling with confusion, trying to piece together what was happening. My last clear memory was a blur of pain and despair; dying because of Logan and Sophie. But now, everything felt strangely altered, as if I had been transported to another reality."Why am I wearing a wedding dress?" I wondered, my mind racing. I wasn't dreaming was I? I thought briefly and just then, I thought of one possible chance; REBIRTH!Sophie’s voice broke through my spiralling thoughts again. “Hello?”I blinked, trying to focus on her face, which seemed to be filled with a blend of concern and urgency. My heart raced as I stammered, “What year is this?” My voice was tinged with panic, and I could feel my eyes widening in disbelief.Sophie’s gaze remained fixed on me as she moved closer. She knelt beside me, her face inches from mine, and gently placed her hand on my forehead. Her touch was warm a
