Julian's POV
“It’s an important occasion, and I have to attend it!” I insisted, my voice firm as I explained to Dr. Smith. I had been begging him for what felt like hours now, pleading with him to let me go. But he remained unmoved, his expression serious, as he continued to insist that I couldn’t leave the hospital yet. All I could think about was Ruby. The thought of being there for her, helping her, was consuming me. I had already rented the hall, made all the arrangements, and told my assistant to go get her this morning. Everything was set, but the one thing that kept me from being there was this damn hospital bed. I couldn’t even remember what my old self had discussed with Ruby before, but that didn’t matter. All that mattered now was being close to her. This was my chance,a second chance I never thought I’d get. I wouldn’t let it slip away. Not this time. “Please, doctor. It’s urgent!” I pleaded, my voice stronger now, frustration mixing with desperation. Dr. Smith shook his head, still looking worried. “But you’re not fully healed yet. What if something happens again? You’re not ready.” His concern was understandable, but my mind was already made up. “Nothing is going to happen to me,” I insisted, my voice steady despite the frustration building inside. “Once I’m done, I’ll come back for a check-up. Please, just do me this favor and discharge me now.” The doctor hesitated, his face a mixture of concern and doubt. I could see he was struggling with the decision, but I refused to show any sign of giving up. Finally, after a long pause, Dr. Smith sighed and reluctantly agreed. “Alright. But you better come back for that check-up like you said.” His tone was stern, but I knew he could see how serious I was. I got discharged and went straight home. As I stepped through the front door, I couldn’t help but take in the sight of my house. Everything was so different from what I remembered. The place was well-furnished, elegant, and spacious. Nothing like what I had lived in during my past life. In my past life, everything I had was stripped away from me by the Thompsons. They took it all,the wealth, the luxury, even my sense of security. I felt a surge of determination rise within me. This time, I would claim what was rightfully mine, no matter what it took. I wouldn’t let the Thompsons take everything from me again. I made my way to my room, the quiet of the house giving me a moment to collect myself. After a quick shower, I dressed quickly, my mind still on Ruby and the plans we had set. I grabbed my phone and dialed her number to remind her of everything. "Everything’s going according to plan," I muttered to myself as I hung up. It felt good to know I was able to help Ruby, and it made me happy to see the pieces falling into place. “I can’t wait to see her,” I said softly, a smile pulling at the corners of my mouth. I drove myself to Chris Hall, needing to make sure everything was in order. As I arrived, I saw workers moving quickly, arranging chairs and decorations, making sure every detail was perfect. The hall was beginning to look just like I’d imagined. What really made me smile was that Sophie and Logan had no clue about the plan Ruby and I had set up. They didn’t know what was about to hit them, and I felt a strange satisfaction knowing they were walking into this blind. The workers were too busy with their tasks to say anything to me, but I could feel their eyes on me as I walked through. As I scanned the hall, I couldn’t help but be impressed. The place looked incredible. Logan and Sophie had truly put in a lot of effort for this event. It was everything they had worked for, everything they had planned. “Can’t wait to see their faces when I break the news to them,” I whispered to myself, a small smirk tugging at my lips. The thought alone made the excitement surge within me. I was going to enjoy every moment of this. Then, I noticed a car pulling up outside. Curiosity piqued, I moved closer to the window, trying to catch a glimpse of who it was. It was my assistant, pulling in as expected. But then, Ruby stepped out from the back, and I froze. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from her. My breath caught in my throat as I took in her appearance. She was more beautiful than I remembered, even more stunning than she had been in my past life. They started walking toward the entrance of the hall, and I knew it was time for me to meet them. I stepped out, moving swiftly, and caught sight of them just as they approached. Ruby looked happy, and I could see it clearly in her face. There was a certain glow about her, a quiet excitement that seemed to radiate from her. She was eager, just like I had hoped. “Thank you for bringing her here,” I said to my assistant, my voice low but filled with genuine gratitude. He nodded and took his leave, disappearing quietly as I turned my full attention to Ruby. She was smiling, and when our eyes met, I felt a flicker of excitement. “Are you ready for it?” I asked, my voice soft but with a certain intensity behind it. “Because the game has just begun.” Her eyes sparkled with determination, and without hesitation, she replied, “Of course I am.” We both entered the hall, and I watched as Ruby’s gaze swept across the space. The look of amazement on her face was exactly what I expected. Suddenly, a question that had been nagging at me since the first time Ruby mentioned her desire for revenge slipped from my lips. I needed to know the answer. “Umm... I need to ask,” I said, my curiosity getting the best of me. “Why are you getting revenge on your husband, Logan? What did he ever do to you?” The moment the words left my mouth, I saw her expression change. Her eyes flickered, and she stared at me as if weighing how much to reveal. I could tell she was choosing her words carefully, almost like she wasn’t sure whether to trust me with the truth. “You won’t believe me if I tell you,” she said, her voice quieter, more uncertain than before. I wasn’t about to back down now. I leaned in a bit, my tone more insistent. “Just tell me. I promise, I’ll understand.” Before she could answer, something caught my attention,a sound. The echo of heels clicking sharply across the floor filled the hall. Both of us turned at the same time, instinctively looking toward the entrance. “It's Sophie,” Ruby whispered under her breath, her voice barely audible. The moment felt like pure drama, and I couldn’t help but appreciate how everything was unfolding. It was like a scene out of a play, the tension thick in the air. But what really caught my attention was Logan. His face, full of shock, said it all. He hadn’t expected to see me, and the confusion was written all over his expression. Both Logan and Sophie looked completely puzzled, their faces showing a mix of surprise and uncertainty as they tried to make sense of the situation. They were staring at Ruby and I, clearly wondering what we were doing here, so early, and together. “Ruby, what are you doing here so early?” Sophie asked, her voice edged with confusion.Julian's POV"It's not a crime to be here before you," Ruby said to Sophie, her voice steady but her smile clearly forced.I watched as Ruby tried hard to keep that fake smile on her face. It was obvious we were going to have to act like we came here just for the party, even though something darker hung in the air.Logan’s eyes locked on me, and I couldn’t quite read the look on his face, but it was intense. His brow furrowed deeply, and I knew he was wondering why I was here. His confusion was clear, but so was something else, something heavier.“I thought you didn’t want to come?” Logan asked, his voice louder than it needed to be. He wasn’t even looking at Ruby when he said it. His eyes stayed glued to me, sharp and piercing, like he was trying to figure me out or see through me.The way Logan stared at me was enough to make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I could feel his hatred, thick and heavy, almost suffocating. It wasn’t just in his eyes, it was in the way he stood
Julian's POV“Sophie!” Ruby shouted, her voice filled with fear as she saw the metal flying toward us.In a split second, Ruby pushed me aside, trying to shield me from the projectile. But I couldn’t just stand back and let her take the hit. My instincts kicked in, and I ran forward, throwing myself in front of her just as the metal struck. The impact hit my back hard, a sharp pain searing through me. I winced, feeling a wave of agony ripple across my skin. Thankfully, it missed the spot where I was already injured, but the pain was still enough to make me gasp. I clenched my teeth, fighting to hold back a cry as I tried to endure the hurt.“Julian!” Ruby exclaimed, her eyes wide with alarm as she turned to me. The worry on her face was palpable, and I could see the panic rising within her.She noticed my pain, and it tore at my heart to see her so frightened. I wanted to reassure her, to tell her I was okay, but the words caught in my throat. Instead, all I could do was hold my b
Ruby's POV. “What is this?” I managed to ask, my voice barely steady. My heart pounded as I stared at the receipt, my name printed clearly at the top. Why was my name there? I didn’t make that payment. I hadn’t arranged for any of this, especially since the car was supposed to crush me up first, not Julian. None of this made any sense.I glanced over at Julian, hoping for some kind of sign, something that might explain this strange mix-up. But he looked just as confused, his eyes narrowing as if he was trying to piece together a puzzle with missing pieces. He might think I planned it all. And worse, he might think I had something to do with the accident. My stomach twisted. Julian didn’t remember anything about that night, so what was he supposed to think now?Just then, the driver’s voice broke into my thoughts, sharp and accusing. “You’re not going to lie now, are you?” he sneered, a smug look on his face.I felt my blood boil. I shot him a cold, hard glare that could cut throu
Ruby's POV.“Sign the divorce papers,” Logan threw the divorce papers at me with a sharp, dismissive gesture. The papers fluttered through the air before landing on my lap. I sat there in my wheelchair, feeling a deep, unsettling shock. “You know I don’t appreciate this kind of joke,” I said, trying to laugh, but my voice trembled. It was a special day; how could he be so cruel as to end our marriage now?“This isn’t a joke,” Logan’s voice was harsh and cold. “Just sign the damn papers. It’s over between us.”As I looked up at him, the coldness in his eyes hit me like a punch to the gut. He wasn’t kidding; he was serious. “Stop staring at me with that pitiful look and just sign it,” Logan’s tone was icy, his words cutting through the room. His detachment and finality left me numb, struggling to grasp how everything had happened so quickly.“It’s our fourth wedding anniversary,” I said, my voice breaking as my heart raced uncontrollably. “You can’t do this. You can’t just divorce me
Ruby's POV."Can't you hear me?" Sophie asked, her voice carrying a mix of frustration and worry.I was still grappling with confusion, trying to piece together what was happening. My last clear memory was a blur of pain and despair; dying because of Logan and Sophie. But now, everything felt strangely altered, as if I had been transported to another reality."Why am I wearing a wedding dress?" I wondered, my mind racing. I wasn't dreaming was I? I thought briefly and just then, I thought of one possible chance; REBIRTH!Sophie’s voice broke through my spiralling thoughts again. “Hello?”I blinked, trying to focus on her face, which seemed to be filled with a blend of concern and urgency. My heart raced as I stammered, “What year is this?” My voice was tinged with panic, and I could feel my eyes widening in disbelief.Sophie’s gaze remained fixed on me as she moved closer. She knelt beside me, her face inches from mine, and gently placed her hand on my forehead. Her touch was warm a
Ruby's POV.“Are you going crazy or something? You want to take revenge on the man you just married?” Julian’s irritation was evident as he reacted to my proposal.“That’s not the point,” I replied firmly. “I want to know if you’re willing to get revenge or if you prefer to watch your company collapse in the next three years.”Julian looked increasingly perplexed, clearly struggling to understand my offer. All I wanted was for us to work together.“How would you know what will happen in the next three years?” he asked, his voice tinged with scepticism.“That’s not important right now,” I said, emphasising my urgency. “Just join forces with me so you don’t lose your company.”He seemed to be weighing my words, his silence suggesting deep contemplation. I could see the conflict in his expression.“I’m sorry, I can’t,” he finally muttered, shaking his head as he began to turn away.Desperate not to lose this chance, I reached out and grabbed his hand, halting him in his tracks.“I know h
Ruby's POV.I stood by the window, sipping my coffee and gazing out at the world outside. The frustration was building inside me, especially since Logan hadn’t even checked on me the previous night. The more I thought about it, the more I felt frustrated by him. Even after our wedding, he hadn’t cared about how I was doing. Instead, he was busy cheating on me with Sophie.“Oh Ruby, how could you have been so naive in your past life? I need to be smarter this time to avoid falling victim again,” I muttered to myself. My phone buzzed, pulling me from my thoughts. I picked it up and read the message: “Grandma wants to see you.” The reminder hit me hard; Grandma was still alive now.I felt a pang of longing for her, remembering how much I missed her after her death; planned by Logan and Sophie.“Those heartless bastards. I won’t let you hurt her again,” I declared with determination.I quickly dressed, eager to leave, but as I was heading out, I ran into Logan, who was alone in the living
Julian's POV. "I wish I had you," I whispered quietly to myself.Sitting alone in my office, I held a picture of her in my hand. My chest ached with how much I missed her. I wanted her so badly, wished she could be mine, but she belonged to someone else. I thought about her so deeply that I didn’t even notice my assistant enter the room.“Sir? Sorry to interrupt, but we have work to handle,” he said, pulling me back to reality.I let out a heavy sigh and stood up, placing the picture gently on my desk. The photo was in plain view now, and my assistant’s eyes immediately caught it.“Still thinking about her, sir?” he asked quietly, staring at the photo. I stayed silent, unsure how to answer him. What could I say? As I reached for my suit jacket, he spoke again, and this time, his words hit a nerve.“You know you can’t have Mrs. Ruby, sir. She’s married. Maybe... maybe it’s time to move on.”His words made sense, but they cut deep. Move on? How could I? Ruby had married Logan, someo
