Rhys' POV

The next morning, I was still reeling from the vision of Mara’s last moments. The pain was fresh, but the anger burned brighter. As I was getting ready, a knock drew my attention.

"Step in" I ordered and a guard stepped in with a bow.

"Alpha" He greeted.

"Yes what is your message"

“Alpha Rhys, the elders have called an emergency meeting. They need you there immediately,” he said, his voice tense.

The elders? I questioned within a part of me wanted to decline and told him to tell them it could be postponed but I knew it wouldn't look good especially what happened the last time.

"Do you know why this meeting is called for?" I questioned.
