Mara's POV

I was about to walk away, trying to keep my steps light and silent, but my foot caught the edge of a lace curtain, pulling it down with a clatter. The sound echoed through the hallway, and my heart dropped.

I stayed silent hoping he didn't hear the crash but I wasn't lucky seeing his tall frame walk out the door.

The spy… the rogue turned sharply, his eyes locking onto mine. In a flash, he was out of the room and grabbing my arm before I could escape.

"You!" he hissed, his grip tightening. His eyes bore into mine, cold and calculating.

“I knew you were trouble” he snarled.

I struggled, panic rising. "Let go of me rogue!"

“Ha!” He laughed. “I won't let you blow my cover" he snapped, pulling me towards the room frightened I shoved him with every strength I could muster.

He stumbled backwards, almost slipping but he managed to get his footing using the wall for support.
