Rhys' POV

My heart dropped to my feet as she dropped the bombshell, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Mara, pregnant? It felt like the ground had shifted beneath me. I had to steady myself against the wall, my mind racing.

How was that possible?

No this can't be true!

My anger towards Mara disappeared and was replaced by regret.

"Why didn’t she tell me?" I demanded, my voice sharper than I intended.

The maid looked down, wringing her hands. "I-I don’t know, Alpha. She found out recently I don't understand why she left suddenly. I don’t know what to do."

I ran a hand through my hair, trying to calm down my thoughts a mess. If this was real I just made a terrible stupid mistake.

"Don’t tell anyone about this," I said, my voice low but firm. "Do you understand?"

She nodded quickly. "Yes, Alpha. I won’t say a word."

I needed to do something. I pulled out my phone and dialed Duncan’s number. He picked up on the second ring.

"Rhys, what’s up?" he asked.

"It’s Mara," I sai
