Mathias’ POV

“Get her up!” I boomed but I was the one who bent and carried her up. I ignored the shocking gasps that echoed in the hall and made my way towards the infirmary .

Placing down on a mat, I called for a healer. I watched anxiously as they checked her.

“What happened to her?” I demanded with tension in my tone. The healers ignored, busy still examining the maid.

I gathered my thoughts and stood straight. I immediately became aware of my environment; this place was filled with my servants. And the way I was acting over a maid was questionable.

Not wanting to be the subject of gossip if I already wasn't, I decided I would go.

“You will come and tell me what exactly is up with her once you're done.” I whispered to the healer that came to my chambers earlier today.

I returned to my bedroom. I knew the servants were stealing glances at me when I passed but they dared not stare right into my eyes. Their heads would be on spikes if they let me see them.

I smashed a glass cup
