Ipulled up to the Harkness Manor and stared at its elegance. How many centuries had this house been standing in this exact spot? Time never seemed to touch it. Even the wrought-iron gates that flanked the driveway were still fresh and new. The cobblestones that I drove over hadn’t changed, nor did the building look like it needed to be updated in any shape or form.

It was astonishing to see it so immaculate in its original state—truly a sight to behold. I only wished I would be able to create something for myself that could hold up against the test of time. It wasn’t that I was ungrateful for being able to stay here with Cillian, but I wanted a place to call my own.

The fortress I’d built in the mountains was nothing to sneer at but it was a sanctuary for shifters on the run or for the use of those at Argentum. I wanted something homier and not so commercial.
