Chapter 92

CILLIAN

When I had finally scrubbed the last remnants of chocolate off the countertop, I stepped back, admiring my handiwork. I glanced around the kitchen, looking for any further stains or smears that I had to clean. Only when I was absolutely positive that the kitchen couldn’t get any cleaner, I polished the stainless steel until it shined and dropped the dirty rags and mop in the laundry room.

The rustle of the wind through the canopy caught my attention as I passed the bay windows. I wiped my hands together, pleased with myself as I stared out of the window, watching the trees sway and dance. Deep within me, I felt my wolf calling and prodding at the edges of my being. It had been forever since I’d let him out to play.

The sound of footsteps coming down the stairs made my ears perk. Bartholomew would probably find some fault in my cleaning skills. Before I could get ensnared into doing more work, I bolted through the side door and took off toward the trees.
