123. Farthest from him

Lucien was about to get into a car when I called his name. Picking up the pace in my steps, I hurried toward him. He shoved his bag into the back seat before he turned around to look at my approaching figure, a determined look etched on his face.

“What?”

“You can’t possibly think she means what she said.” I said, “You of all people should know that she is clearly lying.”

“Honestly, I don’t care.” he said, “Because no matter what the truth is, Marcus is never going to let me be with her. I was willing to fight for her until my last breath, but if she refuses to admit her love for me infront of her own family, then perhaps I deserve better.”

Maybe it will help for Marcus tell us how Lucien killed his father. Maybe he did it to save his dad. She wanted Marcus on her side with her dad but doesn't give him a chance to explain. It runs deep when someone kills your parent and she of all people should know that.
