Revenge is a dish best served cold. That should be the line I should recite over and over in this scenario. Small sacrifices that should lead to a great victory. I was on a delicate path, where I had to live with the enemy to attack from within. I allowed myself to enjoy Amanda’s martyrdom.

I had sabotaged her wedding dress, and now it was time to sabotage another element of her wedding—the venue. I wouldn’t stop until her so-called “best day of her life” became her worst.

“Ah… uh… thanks?” Amanda said, suspicious. Then she looked anxiously at Dad. “Weren’t we talking about the baby’s room before they arrived? I’ve already started remodeling it in beige tones. I have a well-defined aesthetic in mind.”

I didn’t mind Amanda’s change of conversation. She always had to be the center of attention, in every season, month, and moment of the day.

“Which room will it be?” I asked, playing along, picking up a piece of cheese.

“The one in the corner. The one you used as a study, right?” she
