Chapter 43

Not even my intense hatred for Andrew made me want to kill him. And I certainly didn’t want Lucius getting into trouble over that idiot. I had to put an end to this scene before anyone saw us, so I went straight to my fiancé and grabbed his arm.

“Stop, Lucius! He’s drunk! He doesn’t know what he’s doing!” I pleaded.

“Yeah, that’s what they say. But guys like him always know what they’re doing,” Lucius muttered as he stopped pressing down on Andrew’s neck and stepped back.

Andrew, for his part, lay on the ground, coughing and spitting up blood. He struggled to his feet, swaying, and I took no pleasure in seeing his shirt stained red or his eyes lost in a haze of anger and alcohol.

“You’ll pay for this. Both of you will,” he spat out as he staggered away.

Back at the apartment, I rummaged through Jenna’s closet for the first aid kit. I found the white plastic box and took it out to tend to Lucius. He was on the sofa, his jacket discarded, and a glance at his hand made me worry.
