I knew the kiss with Lucius was lasting longer than a “fake kiss” should, but my desire to pull away from him was nonexistent. I was completely intoxicated by his lips, his touch, and the way he made me feel. Still, all good things must come to an end.

“Um, excuse me, lovebirds, we’re still here,” Amanda said, her voice tinged with awkwardness.

At her words, Lucius and I pulled apart, turning to face her. And not just her, but the rest of my family. I wasn’t sure who looked more upset, Andrew or Amelia. They were definitely in competition. “We know you’re here, sister. It’s just… we got caught up in the moment…” I said, turning to gaze into Lucius’s eyes, as if we were connected on a deeper level.

“Completely caught up,” Lucius agreed, his hand still resting on my back, almost touching my butt. I laughed, playing the part of a perfect actress.
